Steppe Spider is too good (for missiles)

I hate to complain about it, now that rockets and missiles are finally somewhat viable, but rolling all the things they needed onto a singular cabin was not it chief.

These weapons have been struggling, not from the accuracy that much, but lacking flight speed ever since pretty much the Supercharged update years ago. Especially now the modern day crossout is much more fast paced and mobile compared to the past, even with the max speed nerfs and so on, that Steppe Spider has become pretty much the only cabin to use with missiles and rockets, the only way to make them in any way viable.

Steppe Spider outclasses any other setup for these guns, excluding 2 (Heathers, Flutes but only because the perk does not affect those weapons, as far as i remember) but all the other rocket and missile weapons are pretty much not good enough without a Steppe. Boosting raw damage or reload speed does work somewhat, explosion radius not felt at all in general, but Steppe Spider just instantly fixes all the problems most rocket and missile users have with the weapons, mainly projectile flight speed. And also accuracy on top of that if you were struggling with that aspect.

Rockets and missiles were struggling so bad, and many of them would need specific case to case looking into to readjust these forgotten weapons (they kinda did it with the Locust line at least) but they just can’t because 1 Steppe fixes everything 2. Because Steppe exists these weapons would become too good with it

It’s just too many weapons pretty much tied into a singular cabin. Like there even does not exist any legendary cabin to compete with Steppe when it comes to missiles and rockets in general. Hell Steppe feels more like a legendary cabin compared to some other legendary cabins purely out of just how good and necessary it is for rockets and missiles

Honestly they should tone down the increased speed of projectiles the perk gives, give all rockets missiles etc across the board some more stock projectile speed (and remove the minus speed from Dusk completely, nobody uses this pos). Like the Steppe Spider perk of 35% more projectile speed is a massive buff that all rockets seem to need, instead make it something like 20% for the cabin perk and give the rest 15% to all missiles and rockets across the board.

And of course it’s a pack only item to boot

but you will

I think pretending the cat does not exist is a way worse thing than bringing the obvious cat to the table for all to see

Only “OP” with Nests. Usually paired with goliath tracks.
I use my 3 Crickets on a Kensei cab, tried steppe but wasn’t working out.

’ I Did ’

You want a medal or something?

I wouldn’t say the cab is op, missiles and rockets are still missiles and rockets and explosion damage/effect is still a wet fart for the most part (Humongous damage numbers from time to time yet you never really blow off much parts or seem to drain overall build hp comparable to how much damage the numbers are saying you did, you just don’t see it anywhere), but it’s just too much of a fix-all for an entire group of weapons (missiles/rockets) that are mediocre at their best, only slightly above that with this cabin on a good day but still aren’t super popular or effective, and fall below mediocre for the most part on other cabs, and can not be universally buffed because Steppe Spider exists

They just rolled too many fixes the weapons needed, onto a singular cabin and perk. Like Nests nobody used until Steppe Spider happened. Now they can’t buff a Nest to the point it can function with a cabin other than Steppe Spider, because then Nest + Steppe would be way too good compared to what kind of effectiveness they want to insist missiles/rockets should stay at

um. . . yes! and i didn’t understand anything about the Cat ! :kissing_heart:

idk how to feel about the steppe spider. i used it before with missiles and it was stupidly good. i just wanted to try it and its really good with them. personally id prefer the hadron for the reload speed but if you had them fused for reload then yeah the steppe spider is perfectly fine for them.

dusk however is a disaster of a cabin and honestly i feel that this cabin shouldve been the one for the missiles but sadly it wasnt.

on another note they need to add more co-drivers to. i would like a co-driver for ice weapons and there could even be one that boosts missiles to. its just a shame the co-driver mechanic is not going to be touched anymore. while the devs didnt announce theyd abandon it they might as well have said that they will. they add new features in then just completely abandon them. its a shame really.

It really is so mindblowingly bad, and the worst part is that there was no reason to make it so bad, it would have worked fine as it originally is, but the only reason they made the new perk such horse-ass is because they wanted to give the old function of the Dusk cabin (sideways pyre builds) also to the Steppe Spider just to make it even better and the only cab for missiles and rockets.

The decreased accuracy and flight speed is just so bad it breaks all of the weapons this cabin is supposed to be used with, especially all homing ones. It’s like your build is the only one functioning at 15 fps 300 ping while everyone else works and plays normal.

And the perk, it just is not enough. The main thing is a +25% damage boost to your missiles etc, but there is just so many cabins that do the same, or close enough, of a damage boost with less downsides, on top of being more universally usable on all weapon types, especially now after the Photon and Quantum change. And things like Aggressor and Mars exist, or you can simply just go full reload speed buffing and you put out more damage through faster dps than the Dusk could ever offer.

The damage buff should be something like +35% to even be a considerable option, heck the Steppe gives +35% more parameter with it’s perk, but I imagine that the perk works so that the 25% also translates to the negatives (so +25% damage but -25% speed and accuracy) so if it was 35 then the rockets would just be completely broken. Not sure if that is how big of a debuff it gives, but it sure feels that way. And the lessened target acquisition range and less maneuverability is a leftover from the original sideways pyre perk it had, but it just makes the rockets so slow and bad you can’t even use it to sideways pyre at all, while Steppe turns a sideways pyre “reusable lances” playstyle into “reusable lances but they’re also long range and homing”.

They just tried to cook with the most minimal attempt imaginable by making it some kind of an opposite Steppe Spider, but with a stock weak damage buff perk slapped onto it that was already outclassed when it originally came out, even more so now in the current day.

And it has horrible power and mass while Steppe Spider allows for a lot more build variety and beefier builds.

They really need to take another look at this cabin and make it an actually functional cabin with missiles and rockets in it’s own way, and the usage of it with any kind of homing missiles needs some serious rework because it just does not work and breaks any kind of a homing rocket weapon right from the get-go.

the problem to is on the sideways pyre build with dusk, half the time the missiles just faceplant into the ground and half of them dont even look like they hit, they explode just above or near the car. i tried testing it in the garage with the one on the packs (didnt buy the pack just test driving it) and the missiles just faceplanted in the ground half the time. it was rare that i even get half the missiles to hit. out of 10 launches at least half only had 50% of the missiles hit while the other just had at least the other half faceplant into the ground. there was even one missile that missed… MISSED COMPLETELY! and it tried to turn around like “ahh you sneaky devil!” and hit a wall.

also… who in the heck runs pyres sideways? its one of the easiest weapons to disarm…

that being said though 25% more damage isnt alot… maybe they gave it that cause half the time the missiles just eat the dirt? idk.

they tried changing the perk to just to compensate but i feel like they made it worse…
