The absolute Poor State of balance in this game

Isn’t that what a Tusk is all about? It’s a high risk high dmg thing. I’ve played with it for a while in the past, I didn’t find it easy to play with it and score well with it, sometimes monster score and sometimes complete failure
It’s fun to play, but not that effective.

Cerberus could use a buff, Tusk is ok imho.

Exactly.

I have a similar feeling about drones. When they do well, they’re amazing. Other times, they’re destroyed before they’re active & I get one shot killed. :joy:

Yeah, I rarely see tusk builds these days, and most of the time they aren’t very effective. But once in a while I see someone who obviously mostly plays tusk and is really good at it. I don’t mind dying to someone like that.

Its still a fast 12 energy cab, the cab is too overpowered if the user is smart enough to use it as a secondary weapon. It one shots tracks, nearly instakills goliaths, destroys augers, and on top of that it seems to zap everything on by build 5+ blocks in through plows. Nothing should be OP enough to do that unless its a weapon that costs energy.

You say it right, smart and skilled players, apparently, and fortunately, there aren’t that many of them otherwise we would see Tusk more and the suffering, for the less smart and skilled players, would be immense. :sunglasses:

The only time I was ever accused of cheating was by a tusk player who just couldn’t seem to do any real damage against my bigram/median build.
I just kept stepping to the side every time he charged, and he’d just bounce off my bumpers or legs without connecting with his actual tusks.
He was so mad.

I’m taking that personally! LOL

When I get slaughtered by a Tusk, I almost always try to go back and use it as though it’s been buffed.

It hasn’t.

The only thing buffed was that other player’s skill.

It goes back to the reality that some weapons/items in the game just take more time to master, and those who master them are rewarded.

It’s not good to give up on a play-style right away, just because you failed the first time (still struggling with cannons here). However, The Waltz it clearly not for me. But, if you can use that thing, it’s devastating, and I have no doubt that thing takes a heap of practice, and nobody just took it out and said, “Hey, this is easy.”

Anybody who has aced that thing is probably grinning.

I don’t know if this sounds very logical and if it’s correct. I have some kind of classification of items in game. I compare that to game modes. Difficulty levels like driving aids in sim racing. Easy mode to Hard mode. Funny thing is that in my assessment almost all so-called OP items belong to the easy mode, Hovers, MG, eh actually most hitscan weps and other simple, easy and failsafe to use parts/weps. A number of construction methods are also included, spaced armor, wedges, most dogstyle types. Many meta builds are often collections of easy mode parts. Just depending on my mood I go for easy mode or harder. I have much respect for players who get good results with tricky weps/builds and have to chuckle at players who brag about their skills but always play easy mode.

That is me with the assembler. I only started practicing with it because I simply do not enjoy using cannons, and needed something for the Canon daily. The assembler counts. It’s not that I’m terrible with cannons, I just don’t enjoy playing them.

Even with the assembler on the lips of the “this weapon sucks crowd,” I started practicing with it everyday to get the daily. I’m not saying it’s an OP weapon or anything. It’s not. But, it is quite satisfying to use well.

It is a fantastic weapon stripping sniper once you get good at timing and aiming the shots. As much fun as simple shotguns and machine guns are to use, there is certainly a special bit of satisfaction that comes with getting good at a challenging weapon.

The Tusk though I put it in the category you put the waltz in. I’ve practiced with it… it’s clearly not for me. LOL gives me more respect for the people who do get good with it.

This is exactly how I see the game, and I think is the big difference between those who think the game is broken, and those who think it’s actually pretty good.
Maybe it’s a generational thing? I grew up in the era when games sometimes had difficulty settings, and when cheat codes for games were widely known and not seen as scandalous. I never found playing games with cheat codes very rewarding, and while I might initially start a game on easy mode to learn it, you don’t get any real satisfaction finishing it that way.

Things have changed a lot since then, and it feels like a lot of people just value winning more than caring about the actual experience of playing a game and challenging yourself. I’m never really playing against other players, more just using them as a more challenging NPC for me to test my skills against. If they happen to have a stronger build, that just means my dopamine reward for potentially killing them is bigger.

Exactly my POV as well.

The guy over in the ‘psychology’ thread whining about how the game is irreparably broken, P2W, relics are a must have etc and is absolutely miserable with the game probably didn’t even think he’s playing on easy mode. :woman_shrugging:

I think you have a lot more fun… You know… Trying to just have fun rather than being the most winning and powerful player of all time.

If you do that, you’ll never get a lot of the joy out of the game that’s hiding below the 16k CW meta… Like skinnering someone into a pit. :joy:

Lol, I don’t play Patrol, and only ever played raids to do daily challenges.
If you look at my history you’ll see lots of losing streak PVP games, as well as some winning streaks. I really don’t care. As long as I’m capable of placing in the top three on my team, I’m happy whether we win or lose. And if I get sloppy and start consistently placing in the bottom three, it just means I either
made a bad build or drank too many beers.
I think it’s cute that you think you know me, but are so far off the mark every time.

et tu, brute? i like who i can post and 2s later someone flags it.

im not claiming to know you. im claiming this is how the majority thinks. roopull kind of said it himself, lose too much and hes out of pvp.

its based solely on my personal experiences and when looking at the business model the game seems to be following.

I’m not flagging your posts, not my style.
And I assumed you were talking about me, because you quoted me.

I’m curious how you know what the majority of players feel? I certainly don’t, although I have my suspicions and opinions.

Anyway, happy trolling!

I had to remove someone from ignore just to see who you were telling to stop trolling. LOL yeah that made sense.

im relieved to hear that and i believe you! i was fishing.

i dont know, but i think. look at all the mad people in pvp, all that flaming. the matches are so short and repetitive that after a while winning is the only dopamine drip many can get out of it.

youre a clever cow, i honestly cant tell, friend or foe?
