The scorching sun is beating down upon wrecked cars on a desolate highway, the end of which was fenced off by a concrete wall, topped with barbed wire and a reinforced chain-link fence gate. The wasteland heat was unrelenting, with very little breeze. Off in the distance, a large, black vehicle of some kind slowly approaches…
The guy in the watchtower is sweating from the heat. The watchtower on the other side collapsed long ago, and was used for scrap metal. As the huge vehicle got closer, the guy sees it in the distance. He squints, thinking he was hallucinating from the heat. No vehicle could be that big. he thinks. He calls another guy up into the tower. The other guys sees it too. He stands there, stunned. He eventually snaps out of his shock, and quickly climbs down the ladder. “SOUND THE ALARM!!!” he yells, “WE HAVE INCOMING!!!” The old air-raid siren sounds, and people try to get ready. Everyone grabs a gun, but they don’t realize how underprepared they are until they see it. “Whoa…” one says. “Oh no…” says another. “Holy…” another says. They start shooting at the giant black blob of metal, as it slowly encroaches the base…
The metal blob is unphased by the bullets, so they switch to vehicles of their own. The gate opens, and a Humvee races out, shooting at the blob. An APC come out next, also shooting at the blob. then, a tank comes out, and shoots an armor-piercing round into the blob. It goes slightly to the right, hitting the blob’s front-left wheel. The blob still keeps going, mostly unphased still. A Chinook lifts off, carrying something underneath. The blob opens up on the side where the Humvee is. A large gun barrel pokes out, and shoots the Humvee, and it flips over sideways in a fiery explosion. The front of the blob opens up, revealing some kinds of superweapon. A yellow glow appears within the opening, and a low hum can be heard. The glow gets brighter, and the hum higher-pitched.
“LOOK OUT!!!” someone yells. Just then, the blob unleashes an intense beam of light and heat, the laser melting through everything in it’s path. On top of the blob of black, twisted metal, a round section pops up, and a long barrel extends out of it. A red light is seen next to the barrel, likely a sensor. Someone shoots it from the base. The red light goes out. and the turret powers down.
The APC continues shooting. The tank reloads. The chinook is almost over the blob. The blob releases an orange wave all around it. All the vehicles’ electronics shut down. The chinook comes crashing down in a big ball of fire. The APC stops moving and is quickly destroyed by a series of homing missiles from the blob. The tank is the last vehicle left, but it has no power. The blob readies the laser again. The yellow glow gets brighter. The hum, low at first, gets higher. The people come out of the tank, trying to run. One stays in. Another is on top. “COME ON!!!” he yells. “If I don’t make it, tell my comrades I did my best.” the guy inside says. The guy on top jumps off the tank, and runs away. within the tank, the guy sees there is still a round in the barrel, aimed right at the laser… he just needs a way to shoot it. He grabs a hammer that was left in the tank for some reason, opens the firing chamber, and starts hammering the back of the round. The round eventually fires, and shoots the laser when it was about to fire. The laser explodes, crippling the blob. The entire front section is exposed. The guy gets out of the tank and says “FIRE AT WILL!!!”. Everyone shoots into the gap where the laser was. An ominous red glow is seen within. “IT’S GONNA BLOW!!!” someone yells. “TAKE COVER!!!” yells another. The blob explodes, sending black metal fragments everywhere.
“WE DID IT!!!” someone yells. The blob is destroyed, but the military base is heavily damaged. In the coming weeks, several repairs were made to the base, new vehicles were brought in, and the people resumed their daily life, but this time, they were more cautious, and more prepared to fight whatever stood in their way.

Extra note: sorry my story is a bit long, and kinda bad. I don’t usually tell stories but my game isn’t updating and I had little else to do. as I type this ending message, the update is at 80% so I’m not sure what else to do, I might just watch another YT video.
