The developer team answers for the Q&A session about balance in Crossout. Part 1 (30 October 2024)

they mentioned nerfing the speed of bricks

Wheeled builds are always going to be strongest with close range builds, as it is built into their weaknesses/strengths.

Nerf the durability, and wheels will just be irrelevant completely.

Omnidirectional parts will always be better for ranged weapons than wheels, because of the nature of how aiming works in Crossout. But wheels have the speed advantage, so they’ll always be the best choice for close range builds that need the speed.

Crossout is all about choosing the right tool for the right job. There’s no way they can turn wheels into the best option for longer range builds. And even with their durability, they still get knocked off pretty easily in collisions. Make them even less durable and CC is going to be even more dominated by cyclones on legs/omniwheels.

I wanted to call BS on this too (I love wheels)…then I went and looked at their durability stats (I mostly use relic Racing Wheels). Wow?

A single NS Titan has 810 points of durability. The Humpback (an Epic heavy cab) only has 470…seems a little skewed-up? Even a single NS Bigfoot has 670 points.

You probably have a point. It looks wonky to me too…just stay the hell away from my Relic Racing Wheels (a measly 160 durability points) with that nerf-hammer, please. We’re fine over here in the cheap seats, thanks.

The cab durability seems a little irrelevant since the durability of the vehicle takes into consideration the armor durability as well.

This bonus is actually really good.

i used chain wheels and they are so weak its like they are made of wet cardboard. a bullet even grazes the wheel and it falls off. im not asking for much but wheels should be a little more durable then that.
also god forbid a fricken harvester hits your wheels. itll take every wheel it hits off in one shot. not so much on bigfoots but on other wheels? yep.

chained wheels are blue light wheels, i dont see how they could ever be close to bigfoot in durability

I don’t care about everything else, I just want omni and atoms get buffed, so they will be good, right now they just not worth using over most epic movements

BTW, “omni and atoms slides like they are on ice” was mine question, at least they going to think about omni and atom grip to surface buff, maybe even buffing atom characteristics

Ok fine, maybe I want bricks be slower too, 80 speed for 5k hp cabin is too much…

yes they are blue, im not asking for them to be as durable as bigfoots but as far as wheels go they feel like they are made of cardboard in comparison to other wheels. also their grip leaves much to be desired… i know they arent built for grip but still. +25% more traction should be 25% more traction, not like im skating around on ice.

i dont use onmis because they arent for me, but i see other people using them and… they seem fine??
i use atoms on my heli build for added defense but yes they are indeed slippery… quite so. a little more then what i wouldve thought those wheels would be.

I still can’t figure out how you guys are getting omniwheels and atoms to skid. They handle like they’re glued to the ground for me, even at top speed with Golden Eagle.

I’m starting to suspect that it’s not that they’re skidding, but more that people are expecting them to have a tighter turning radius. If you use strafing in combination with steering, you can get your turns tighter, and if you momentarily release the gas while turning you will pivot very quickly, as if you’re doing a handbrake turn.

maybe its because im using it on a medium / light cabin?? because usually the increased speed for me on a smaller lighter cabin causes me to skid and slide around ALOT. or maybe its cause i have them on a copter build? idk its hard to describe for me though.

I only use them on light/medium builds.

But maybe it’s the helicopter blades making you top heavy? I do find that if I go over a bump and lose contact with some wheels, things will get squirrelly, but that is to be expected with movement parts like this. So maybe the mass of the blades is making some wheels lift when turning at speed?

Do you use camera steering or traditional steering with strafing parts? And are you usually combining strafing with steering, or just steering alone?

i dont know i think it might be that. ill have to test them. i do love the wheels though and want to get maybe 2 more for a big set of them. i think i have 8 of them as is.
