The most infuriating weapon function

Is the whole gimmick of weapons stopping their firing sequence into a wall once you aim at your own build. On a singular gun this is useful (Kaiju, you can pretty much just keep it at full charge at all times by charging it up fully and then aiming down at your own build and letting go, not firing at all) but even then you could potentially completely interrupt your own firing by accidentally driving over a bump.

But the most infuriating this is on charge2fire weapons, like Waltz, Varun, Astraeus and Snowfall off of the top of my head. Though you rarely run into this problem with the snowfall on how the physical model of the gun is, but it also can pull it off.

Basically, using the Waltz as an example, if you at any point while holding your firing button down and waiting for the missiles to finally launch out of your gun, the whole firing sequence can be interrupted at any point if terrain or an enemy tilts your build enough so that your guns are aiming at whatever structural part on your own build, and on guns as “low riding” as Waltz, you could have them mounted 2 blocks higher than any parts on your own build, and still run into this problem lots of times. Especially infuriating when for example being pushed around by an enemy and being tilted just enough or there being a terrain bump at very convenient points on the map, that you can get soft locked into being just pushed forward and your guns trying to fire but miraculously getting “bumped” to aim at your own build repeatedly just as they would fire, even if your own build was not in the way of firing at 90% of the time as this is happening.

This also messes up the rhythm of firing with Varuns, makes you miss Astreus shots that already take way too long to charge up and so on. Nothing is more infuriating than holding down your firing button and letting go expecting to shoot, and managing to not fire a single shot because of this functionality of the guns, and usually it ends up in a loop of trying to fire and not managing to for multiple tries in a row. Especially infuriating on the Waltz because these things scream to be protected in some way because of the hp, and you can’t make use of the fact that they rotate that well because any car gets screwed over by terrain bumps and tilts, and even playing them on omnidirectional movement parts and treating them like a fixed angle rocket launcher rather than a rotating one gets screwed over by the usual build bopping up/down while moving and coming to a halt (hover) or terrain (any on-ground movement part)

try using a waltz on battlewalker legs LOL i bet it would be impossible from how much they bounce.
still the whole charging and firing thing is just useless to me. waltz to me is just unplayable. the rockets are so ridiculous in the pattern they fire in. some people can get them to work, but no matter how much i practiced with them i can never get them to work.

happens to me as well with my fortunes to. heck it happens with alot of my weapons.

charge to fire is just… idk… i guess it works ok with the kaiju but on bots its just broken and irritating to deal with. considering the bots stalk you to no end…
but yeah some features havent aged well imo.

got a build in exibit…

true true…just tapping button and then the weapon charges up and fires…though it would require timing sense…or smt…

i agree that some shooting methods are somewhat ridiculous…but…in some cases it does have a meaning…or smt…

ohhhhh nooooooooo

some weapons are hard to use though. lets take the kaiju for example. once you hit that fire button your screwed and have to commit to the attack. it wouldnt be to bad if you could hold the charge for good, but that isnt the case and once that timer is up then your gun wastes a shot to only reload then ready itself for the next charge shot. idk how i really feel about this because some guns like miniguns require a spool up time to fire which can help save you. mgs are just hit the button and fire alongside most of the guns in the game. some weapons to me are just at a disadvantage.

I still miss the old Kaiju, holding the charge forever but moving at 40km/h was way better than this modern day run and gun timing boogaloo business, I hate the new Kaiju over the old one

i have to agree honestly. i like the old kaiju mechanics more. the kaiju is a powerful gun to dont forget, on a bot its absolutely broken. slowing the build down should be the downside to the gun that it needs. this whole “it only holds its charge for 4 seconds” is bullcrap because once you pull down that trigger your screwed and just wasted ammo so you better find something to shoot at before you lose it. at least the one before let you hold it down and keep the shot for when you need it even if it slowed you down to 40km/h.

While infuriating, there are options around this : The main one is to put pieces directly under the barrel. A weapon that cant mecanically lower itself wont stop firing.

Aside from that there are not many solution to fix that for the devs :
-Keep it
-Have the weapon still fire and damage your own build
-Have the weapon still fire and do no damage to your build
-Have the weapon fire through your build (exploit galore)
-Have the weapon be incapable of looking at your own build (people would be furious of how clunky your weapon are)

I feel that the first solution is the best. People should just build in ways that reduce the time it happens (or prevent it). If you hide your weapon inside your build its normal using it will be clunky.

Might as well put limited charge holding into here as well, or no charge holding at all. Prime examples, Kaiju and Astraeus. Kaiju’s already been talked of so on to the Astraeus, imagine how good this gun could be if you could hold the maximum charge for some time, rather than instantly firing it once you’re at full charge. Playing this hunk of junk is a surefire way to just getting frustrated to the point of rage because the enemy manages to be in perfect aim for you for multiple seconds but your guns fire whenever they want to and you end up costing hp + missing shots left and right

Another one is finger-rapers, like the old plasma emitters, that were so notorious for causing aching fingers (while possibly providing a rather nice workout that peoples girlfriends might enjoy) that they changed how they work. And then what they do, roll out the Varun, peopel do not want to wreck their fingers with the Varun, people play with Macros, they nerf the Varun to oblivion because of it. And still keep the finger straining firing mechanism that also requires a very stable server connection, which this game is notorious for. I never play Varuns now, and I used to like them a lot when they came out. And now I am getting older and I can’t fingerfuck the mouse for hours like the game expects people to do just to play a lackluster 250 coins POS overnerfed hunk of junk.

I dislike all of the charging mechanics for weapons.
I want to just pull a trigger and shoot!
