i did a little testing and i got to say the weapon is… basically useless on its own. it would be extremely hard to use. you basically need 2 of them to do anything.
also a single one is… useless really. i mean why not have it so if its a singular one dropped it will at least do a small amount of damage by arcing its electricity to an enemy? it wouldnt be much but it would help… right?
also the range on setting them up is limited. so… yeaaaah… they do do a bit of damage though when connected so its not a bad thing.
I think the punji will be like the flutes. People will try it at first and then it will disappear.
I find the punani stick has 1 major upside, that you can drive your own build through the stick itself rather than get stuck on it. Sadly on test track I can’t test if this applies to enemies as well, or if they would get stuck against the stick if they were to drive right into it.
But on a stationary target, these do some major damage and pop modules etc pretty fast, so efficient use of it would be more on trying to trap the enemy within the punji rather than try to get enemies to drive through it.
I can see the punji working really well, especially if enemies as well can pass through the sticks themselves rather than get stuck on them like against a normal turret, with a skinner or kapkan build. Imagine heavy punji skinner draggers, that do not even need to drag enemies, just get them to stay within the punji forcefield long enough to pop a generator and through that movement parts, or just movement parts. And if enemies pass through the sticks themselves as well, you can drop them in any random pile pattern and try to keep or drag people into it or even push with boosters or with a heavy build, even the few with punjis in non-optimal positions that i can find on the exhibition, just drop them into a random zigzag pile and push a test track build into that pile and watch it melt
It’s kind of like king+skinner but rather than a singular explosion from a mine, you get periodic damage in an area
i mean… the fact you need 2 of them just to make them usable is already a downside for them. its possible but idk.
i didnt even think to test that. interesting bit of info there.
this is true but there is an issue here to… do bots target the punji sticks? if thats a yes then i dont see these being used at all in anything. maybe pvp but thats a long shot imo.
i like this weapon and i like how it functions but i WOULD like something additional to them. like if they are by themselves they can let off a small electrical arc to a nearby enemy dealing small amounts of damage and giving maybe a small debuff to them? it would make sense really and it would be a good thing for people who only have 1 of them.
well in garage/range…the bots shoot the pole straight away then kill you…
so better in pvp with No Bots …
Bot Bad !
im guessing it counts as a drone then?
yes.
