I know jbrider did a video as well where he used adapter, hadron and thyrus but it was on legs. Deadman is good too even tho I don’t own it but I think it is really important to have a cab that increases your reload for this weapon just because your going to be missing so many shots you kind of need all the dps you can get to compensate. That build looks nice!!!
Its not the easiest gun to use. Its easier than kaiju. Im getting used to its projectile velocity. Im starting to hit most of my shots. Its really great at chopping small mgs down to size, minus maybe the legendary version of the piercer line.
Good idea running it on deadman. It’s a great cabin for these high energy reload weapons.
Of course Hadron is better if you want to carry a lot of armour, but I suspect it’s better to be fast with a weapon like this.
Yeah, even if i burry it its still pretty exposed because of its four pronged pew pew even if only from the front of the gun. Id rather strafe faster. Also i thought about adapter hadron but decided i didnt want to mix this gun with anything. The extra 20% reload just didnt seem necissary vs deadman and all its benefits. If a king affected its reload id pair them, because that single king also does lots of damage as people chase you. Ill probably make an adapter hadron build eventually, but for now i feel no desire to do so.
Im actually really likeing this gun…it may even make it in to my top five favorite weapons. I was not drawn to it at all at first.
Im cautiouse around kaiju players when useing thyrsus. I strip thyrsus with ease on my kaiju builds. Soo…im kind of afraid of kaiju when i use it. So far im beating up other thyrsus players. I kind of single them out and strip them.
I really like the Thyrsus, it’s definitely one of my favorite weapons. It’s beefy enough to survive a few shots from shotguns and piercer style MGs. I can often strip those guns before they destroy mine, but I have trouble with some of the more nimble builds. Sometimes I just aim for the cabin and hope to out DPS them, which works surprisingly often. Especially against flame thrower builds.
If I happen to be next to corpse, then it makes for a great sniper weapon. With my particular combo, my Thyrsus shoots faster than it gains charges. I’ll also use my spider legs to cradle a corpse and take it with me, keeping my gun charged.
The downside (although this is not unique to the Thyrsus), is that it’s a big target and gets destroyed in just 2 volleys from dual Athenas or 2 volleys from triple Destructors. If my Thyrsus has charges, then there’s a 50% chance I’ll destroy the Destructors before they destroy my Thyrsus. But I have to be on point with my shots.
Athena, well, it’s just GG whenever a pair of those are in the match. They have enough hit points that I can dump all 7 shots into one of the Athenas and not destroy it. By that time, they’ve already destroyed my Thyrsis and my cabin has 10 hps left.
In lower PS I tried it on carapace, which worked better than I thought it would. The new special cabin perks has made all of them a lot more viable.
And yes, I am enjoying this gun way more than I thought I would. Might be my favourite sniper weapon (of the ones I’ve owned).
