It looks like it could have two firing positions to me; straight up and straight forward. Close range/long range?
There are no spaces to launch anything from the top. I do see that the part has a space about the base where it could open up to release or launch a part. It could be another mine launcher or drone launcher. Either way this part is def designed to “drop” not fire.

IF you look closely though this fictonalized version has 5 rocket tubes that you can see on the top.
Look closely at the top those are 5 rocket tube protection covers.
Not a troll, this is a launcher that was leaked a few weeks ago in its block out state, though in that state it looked more like the TOS-1 image I posted.

It’s got hydraulics, so the upper part is able to lean forward and back a bit. Whatever it is, it’s propelling some projectile upwards. It does have 5 small leads that might open up and fire on top.

I like the general design (but not the weapon type).
MLRS are mostly unguided artillery, and this is 100% a MLRS.
I’d bet more on a Mandrake-type weapon.

the new missile battery is not homing, it is going to have the same exact aiming system as the mandrake (developpers said it even)

As an MRLS it will likely completely negate the mandrake, if it can accurately hit targets the mandrake suddenly becomes useless.
ironically, Artillery = precise long range weapon, and MLRS = carpet bombing shit IRL.

Likely because modern Artillery is less accurate then modern MRLS.
a modern MRLS can fire semi guided projectiles, where modern artillery still has to worry about wind, the earth curve and other issue that a guided projectile doesn’t need.
