Torpedoes

Now that most of us have unlocked them, what do people think of Torpedoes?

My first impression is that they’re really fun to drive, and feel very unique compared to the other movement parts. I don’t think they’re particularly OP, although better players than me might figure out some ways of abusing them.

So far I’ve only tried them with a dual Starfall build, and the recoil of the gun is a bit of an issue. I think it will be like hovers, where some players will find ways of using the recoil to their advantage, but most will find them easier to use with low-recoil weapons.

The acceleration and rotation are very responsive, but the drifting prevents them from feeling like they’re better than other fast movement parts.

I used two with Golden Eagle to take advantage of its new perk, and it seemed to work well. I suspect they’re going to work well with boosters and Cockpit.

I’m definitely going to get another pair to make some quad builds, but I doubt that using six will work well.

I haven’t yet because I don’t have the pass :sob:

There’s a HUGE bug to fix this, super easy to pull off, and it’s everywhere rn :sob:

I won’t say what the bug is because I don’t want people abusing it more.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say here.
Bug? Everywhere?
I haven’t actually seen many people using them yet, and I’m still figuring them out myself. The more I play them, the better I am as using the handbrake to keep control, but I don’t think that’s a bug.

I was thinking the same with golden eagle.

Try something for me if your having fun figuring them out, how do they behave when you add wheels?

The configs I was thinking about is:
Torp|wheel|wheel|Torp (and shortened to single wheel)
Wheel|torp|wheel (and reversed)
Torp|wheel (and reversed inline)
Torp with wheel centered in front and or back (out of line).
The last two should also look at distance from center i.e. hidden wheel internal to build to distance outwards from build center.

I left a few out that are strange like 2 torps centered front, 2 further out, wheels in the back.

Anything over 4 of these I think will require the Pegasus engine from looking at comparable numbers. Otherwise your kind of looking at the old bigfoot acceleration issue unless you use boosters as you suggested.

Don’t feel like you have to do all of them, it’s just a list of most of the configs I was thinking about trying.

I thought that might be an issue too.

I like them alot tbh, i only have the 2 fused tho. Really hope i end up getting +4 more at least.
8 is the limit tho, i’d like to get 8 but probably won’t be able to afford that.

yeah, not at all op, just fun, and that’s ok tbh. I just hope torpedo’s get buffed in the future.

I’ve tried a 2 Doom Harpy build, it works but not great because of the slow shots.
Then i made a Nox Kaiju 2 torpedo build. Fun but can be tricky stopping lol
And yeah the recoil is high.

I was thinking quasars would be worth trying.
And any pyres \ hurricane etc might be decent. But I don’t have homing rockets.

I don’t have Golden Eagle Engine, but Colossus engine seems like the best (and the teal version)
The extra durability for the torpedo’s seems like one of the best engines to use for me personally.

Is it because of the power score? That worries me too tbh… But i’d hope 6-8 works out.

(Edit: My biggest issue right now with MVP Torpedo, is it’s going to be Tough Farming Fuel with them.)
Also i kind wish we could move sideways, even if it was very slow

they feel incredibly awkward to use. they are a hovering part but they dont strafe and that throws me off every time i use them. i just dont feel anything for these parts and i doubt ill ever use them. as much as i like the concept of hovercraft parts… they just dont do much for me.

i havent seen anyone use them yet either…
but i will post this so everyone knows what ur talking about…

One issue with this combo is that you can’t max out tonnage on a light cabin with two torpedoes and golden eagle, but using more movement parts negates the golden eagle perk.
Finwhale may be the better choice for dual Torpedo builds, but I’m going to see if I have any light cabins with more built-in tonnage.

I may try this later, but I’m going to assume that adding wheels cancels out the full speed reverse and also interferes with the high speed pivot, which for me would kill the fun of this part. I’d be more likely to try augmenting them with omniwheels or tracks, but then you’re limiting the top speed.

That’s also my thinking, but I’m going to see how quad builds feel. They seem to have quite good acceleration, so six might work.

Acceleration is my fear, but might not be too bad with the right cabin/engine.

They just seem like a movement part that’s made more for speed, so anything that reduces that may kill the fun.

They feel closer to tracks than any other type of movement part, except more slippery. I do wish you could invert steering for reverse, as I keep forgetting they don’t work like omni parts.
The more I practice, the more intuitive they feel. Spinning around and maintaining momentum in reverse is really fun and useful.

bedlam lol! I’ve been Practicing there

True, my fear is just how easy they are to “pop”.
But if 6 -8 adds a crazy amount of ps…
8 would be 4400 Power score.
6 - 3300 ps
4 - 2200 ps
Not sure if it’s low or high. Compared to other movement parts

Haven’t unlocked anything but did get to try them out a little bit, I don’t like them personally, they’re kinda fun in a way yet also infuriating to use as well. I do love how they’re not bound to the camera steering and stuff, but in practice it’s just constantly holding the brake button and mostly just bumping into things or not being in the proper position to shoot

I don’t really see this being any kind of meta machine, sure it makes stripping guns maybe a little bit harder but at the same time you’re just a blob spinning and spazzing out and not really landing many shots either, I personally don’t see any point in using them and have not really been feeling like they’re that hard to fight when coming across them. They’re not bad but I haven’t been amazed by them when fighting them or using them. I already dislike the slippery feel of most wheels (Supercharged update and “changing how wheels behave so they are less arcade-like and more le realism meme”) and switched over to hovers at that point.

And no matter how tricky they are moving around, one good bump into a build using these seems to throw it completely out of the loop and surely this is not a game where you’re rammed into by the enemy all the time

I wish hovers would get nerfed for once.
Only advantages using hovers, far too op, much more pro’s than any cons.

Yes Torps aren’t op or meta and needs buffed.
But maybe if hovers weren’t op and meta and hovers weren’t in 85 - 95% of all matches… If hovers got nerfed other movement parts would be viable…

(Just 1 problem the game faces, definitely drives players away)

you ever thought that maybe a majority of movement parts were made bad on purpose?
the torpedos are bad yeah but idk how youd buff them. the biggest thing that throws me off is the lack of strafing.

I think what I like about them is that they’re kind of like playing drifty tracks, but they’re forgiving around terrain like hovers are.
They’re basically hovers for people that don’t like the strafing aspect of the jet hovers, and want something with more of a driving feel than a FPS vibe.

I suspect that they’ll work a lot better with fixed angle weapons than wheels or tracks do. I think I’m going to try a snowfall build once I unlock the module.
They might be good with tritons/gremlins/goblins, and I might try them with an Avalanche too.

When I get another pair, I think I’ll try some longer banana builds, but not sure which weapons.

ill post this here since i cant post yet due to being a peasant but anyways,
theres a bug with torpedos and the master cab not repairing em, i assume its something they just forgot about since the goliaths can be repaired and it would seem fair for them to be compatible with the repairing mechanic

if someone could make a post specifically about it id appreciate it

You have to post bugs on the bug tracker page: Community Bug Reporting System

Bro I feel This X100 because of Hovers.

dude just stop.
at the most i can see hovers get a speed nerf but thats it.
its not helping your case complaining about them in every forum post you go to. if you want to complain then please keep it in your own posts. nobody wants to hear you whine in other peoples posts about how hovers constantly need nerfs. im not saying this to be rude, im saying this cause im quite sure people are tired of hearing it.

Thanks we are seemingly in agreement on Any Nerf.
Speed works. They Dodge Shots SO EASY. (While never missing.)
Stop? I’ll stop when it happens. I’m doubling down in the meantime. (But i hear u, my apologies.)
Love the game. Sick of how op hovers are. Every Game I See Them. Ruining the experience for at least Hundreds. Games dwindling because of so many reasons. This one matters too. Who knows how many people quit because of Hovers.( But its definitely more than 10( that I know of btw :joy:)

Omni directional movement will always be overpowered. It bypasses the weapon rotation limits. The only way to have any semblance of balance is to remove it. The Torpedoes themselves are meh compared to hovers, but they’re still broken overpowered when compared to normal wheels.

I hope you understand that some of us have lived through years of watching the forum get spammed by a handful of players who get obsessed about hovers, and it gets really tiresome after the first few years.
Especially when hover have been nerfed repeatedly, since some players will only be happy if they’re removed from the game, and that is not happening.

Have you managed to acquire any for yourself yet? I think we’d be more receptive to your complaints if they seemed like they were coming from someone who actually had some firsthand experience with them.
