1: i agree that athenas are overpowered for what they are.
2: they are a gun that is in limited supply. they havent been available to make for years.
3: slap these on a bot and they are absolutely busted.
4: these things run for 12k - 15k PER GUN… thats absolutely insane.
5: on top of being unable to make, the devs buffed them because, and i quote “its an unpopular weapon”. i wonder what 300 iq genius wrote that statement… they havent been available for years, no blueprints of them came out apart from events and nobody uses them because who in their right mind is going to pay 15k per fricken gun?
let me guess, the wallet warriors defending their dying game cause they are like the reddit mods, power tripping and hate anyone who disagrees with them. i really hate the crossout community minus a select few people who i know are chill. the majority of the playerbase is like “everythings fine! we dont need changes or new modes or blah blah blah!” and its also these same people who seal club beginners, talk trash and insult others in the chat and also whine “the playerbase is to small to add anything new”. gee, i wonder why people dont want to stick around and play this game. i could say more but i feel that one of the visitors here might get their feelings hurt and report me for being such a meany pants. i think you can tell by my response though how i feel about this community and the wallet warriors / whales who defend this game.
it depends what builds are used.
if a 5 imp car sneaks up on a corax, it will probably win.
but if the corax has a team or knows about the car and has range or can run away from it, i think it could easily win.
the damage of the bolts is high, and the explosive bolts are pretty extreme. with its firerate it should be very easy to strip 5 imps.
i cant say how OP aspects are because i dont face them often but i can see theyre not weak
Corax is strong in the hands of someone who’s been playing scorpion hovers for years, but not very strong if you’re not a skilled sniper. Most players are not skilled snipers (I know I’m not).
I’m getting killed by a lot of Corax players in CC lately, but they’re the same ones who killed me with scorpions or Charons, or Kaiju, or any other weapon with a lot of range and accuracy.
I really don’t think they’re much stronger than their alternatives. They’re just popular right now because they’re new.
Translation: I have a feeling that this is not the case! That’s one thing, who should I gather here… I’ll give it to my wife to take care of it and I’ll get it sorted there
the damage output is very high, it doesnt take that much skill to play.
you need to be able to aim, but thats the same as all the other snipers.
try to shoot it in test drive, i think it would be really easy to wipe everyone in CC with almost no skill involved apart from being able to point your crosshair at the enemy.
i would test it, but i wont buy a weapon that will get nerfed at an unknown time sooner or later
Just use an explosive charged shot instead of a regular one. ~900 alpha damage stock, you basically get two full PS scorpio builds in one. Fair and balanced
A single Corax explosive bolt does 900 damage? It hasn’t felt like they’re hitting me that hard, but I haven’t tested them on the range.
Semi-related, does it seem like explosive weapons in general are hitting harder than they used to? I’ve been getting some crazy damage numbers lately, but maybe I’m just getting lucky. Was there an explosive damage change I missed?
That’s not so scary, especially since that’s spread out in an explosive radius. The non-explosive sniper weapons are a lot scarier to me, as they’ll easily degun you before you even see them (if the sniper is skilled).
There are lots of explosive weapons that can do a lot more than that. I’ve been playing a snowfall build that averages 1500 damage for a full volley, and occasionally hits above 3000. 900 is decent, but not OP to me.
And I’m saying this as someone who is not good at sniping, and is more likely to be the victim of Corax players. Doesn’t seem any scarier to me than many other long range weapons.
Considering that two Scorpios have 542 alpha damage, you have two CW Scorpio builds focusing you every two seconds so yeah, it is scary
“spread out in an explosive radius” only matters if Corax player is dumb (or not skilled) enough to not focus cab / weapons, which take all of that blast damage
It could be even a 1000 damage if the part is big enough, bigger part = it catches more of the blast damage
And there’s no Jackie, Satori or whatever else could boost that damage, so yeah, it’s not OK for a legendary weapon to deal 4 relic weapons worth of damage every 2 seconds
whats weird to me is people saying they seen 1600 - 2000+ damage on commits but i never seen damage that high unless it was from heating parts. commit was strong but not as strong as people say.
the commit did about 700 cabin damage but it had high energy consumption.
also in some pve matches bots with mammoths / typhoons can hit behind your cab even though it hit it from the front of the cab… ask me how i know…
I swapped my lighters for a second Corax yesterday, because it’s currently the most expensive of the BP weapons.
I still think I’m going to enjoy the other two more, but I’ll just buy them on the market, since none of them are super expensive.
My first impression is that it’s slightly better than I thought, but still not as OP as some people are saying.
The explosive bolt can hit pretty hard, but it can also do almost nothing if it attaches itself to anything far away from the juicy bits. Sometimes both will land perfectly and they’ll explode for 800 damage, but other times they attach to a low durability part and only does double digit damage when they blow up. And because the explosive bolts still do decent impact damage, they sometimes destroy the part they hit, which seems to cancel out the explosive part.
In general, it doesn’t seem worth it to wait long enough to activate the explosive, unless I’m targeting a stationary target. Keeping the firing rate high seems to work better, and you end up shooting some explosive bolts anyway by accident.
The new charging module makes a much bigger difference than the reload modules, and because of the high energy cost of the guns, most people are unlikely to use both modules.
Don’t get me wrong: the gun is fun and reasonably powerful, but I get a lot more MVPs with other weapons.
If the stats tell the devs it’s over performing, reducing the explosive damage a bit would be fine. Wouldn’t ruin the gun, but could tame it if needed.
So far I’ve only tried it on wheels. I’m sure it will perform better on omnidirectional movement parts, but the PS cost will mean I’ll have to reduce my armour, or swap to a normal radar instead of a detector to get it into CC range.
My yongwang pancake can hit pretty hard and destroy most BfU builds in 1 burst by dealing 2,5k total damage. But it can do almost nothing when i drive into the wall. Of course, that means yongwang is a weak weapon and it should be buffed, not because i have a skill issue or anything
People told me that heating up parts is good but i didn’t notice that. There’s some sort of red parts on the enemies, and i’ve not been shooting at them, my damage is the same or even less. Why people are saying that heating up boosts your damage?
And the kinetic damage… And the charge time… And the reload time… And the HP…
