What was in your opinion the best state of the game?

When do you think this game was at it’s best?

For me, it was the time period just before shotgun wedges became a thing and a plague. Sure hovers were running pretty rampant, but other than that the game was a lot more fun and balanced. The hate for hovers was pretty universal as well, so matches were less about winning and more about random people ganging up to hunt down the enemy hovers like it was a miniature boss fight. Which it usually was, due to how good they were. There were no glaringly OP weapons outside the Scorps and Retchers, and this was the golden time with old maps and no Supercharged downgrade.

Honestly it’s just been a steady downhill from there in general, it might get a bit better but they always find a way to lower the bar repeatedly, always sinking just a bit lower than before. My most hated state of the game is current day, endless pass and brawl spam off of a conveyor belt with 0 thought or quality control, it feels like they’ve genuinely given up on everything outside pumping out money milking passes and mini passes. Brawl are just recycled repeatedly for the most part, all the faults in them remaining the same. Game also feels like it’s on pass money life support rather than there being any real genuine joy left

its like they dont care what happens to crossout and they just want people to play warthunder.
idk when the best point was because i came in quite a bit after hovers came in. but to me the game has been going downhill hard ever since they kept introducing battlepasses, mini battlepasses and constantly not putting in permanent blueprints… they seem to want ways to milk players for money and its getting even more greedy with the inclusion of “taunts” that are temporary. so not only do you have blueprints that are temporary but you have 3 prizes that are taunts now being timed as rewards. i dont get why people dont speak up about this and rip the devs a new one and give them a swift kick in the rear to make the game better. as much as i dont want crossout to die… what can i do? anytime i make suggestions and whatnot the reddit community usually always shoot it down with excuses and whatnot, like they dont want the game to change or improve. is this stale game really what people want? its so disappointing.

End of 2019-2020 the game felt really good… Hovers were finally culled into feeling like a nimble but fragile movement part… most things were viable and FOMO was far less than it was doomed to become.

i’ll play…

before Hovers and when Hurricanes were fun. :kissing_heart:

around…

Many of you will hate this answer, but for me the game is in its best state right now.
There’s never been more building options available, there’s never been more maps, and they finally added a competitive mode with a PS cap.
Graphics are the best they’ve ever been, and I’m getting less lag than I used to.

While there are still METAs dominating matches, there is a much wider variety of viable builds than ever before.

I hope it keeps on improving, and that it’s able to maintain enough players that I can tolerate the wait times for matches.

I think i’ll stop you there. better to rephrase that portion, because… it’s obvious… there are a lot og building options that are not available anymore.

I haven’t been playing much lately but I’d say anytime prior to to the introduction of the battle pass system. This isn’t because of OP weapons or non-permanent additions to the game even though I could complain a bit about that too…

I get busy off and on and having to do anything everyday extra during the on periods is pretty much a hassle that I can’t deal with some of the time. The system as it stands pretty much makes casual play not possible. This goes for some aspects of clans and badges as well; as much as, I do like the concept of badges and the badge exchange for higher tier parts. I would even go so far as to say they should look at converting the existing coupons and shells into badges to finish removing them from the game and swapping the costs for items using shells over to badges.

I think the system it’s fixable, it’s just going to take a bit of adjustment to rebalance daily vs casual player experiences. Especially while keeping the necessary monetary streams going to keep the game profitable for them.

When I first started playing years ago even if it took me longer to earn up to items I could still do it. Right now I can’t justify paying for an event that I don’t have time to finish. If they moved these towards more traditional DLC’s that I could finish at will, I’d still be will to buy them.

More parts = more options.

Yes, some old builds aren’t viable anymore, but that’s not what I’m talking about.

Great topic,

I liked Poony4u response. I think more options is better. I like that the game keeps adding maps. I would be worried when they stop making updates to the game.

I am not saying that balance challenges don’t exist or that it takes a while for said challenges to be placed into the game.

But I like that the dev’s are trying to add interesting content, structure parts, weapons, modules and engines.

To close… I have everything to have fun as a periodic player.

I’m not talking about old builds, i’m talking about building restrictions where before there weren’t any

I’m not sure what you are referring to.

Regardless, what I mean is that we have far more movement part types, cabins, weapons, and modules than in the past, which exponentially increases the number of types of builds that are possible.

meatgrinder, we could mount or across the build or alongside the build, now we only can mount along side the build.
tracks, caucasus, flying drones, mandrakes, reapers, so many others things

Now I am very confused. I’ve been playing meatgrinders forever, and there was never a time that you could mount them to the front or rear of the build.
I did make a few sideways meatgrinder builds in the past, but that was just achieved by rebinding the controls and driving sideways, and as far as I know, that is still possible.

What restrictions to these items are you talking about? Do you mean the changes made to prevent tilted Mandrakes from being so OP?

tilted madrakes, tilted builds in general, changes in hitboxes, parts that can be mounted only one way.
you know? at a certain point i was working on a build, the concept was, the all build would lay on a frame ( or a bunch of frames) with wheels. In those times i would be unable to continue due to lack of wheels i would press a button and carry on fighting with hovers.
I went out of my way, i made 6 hovers, made a prototype, the exact moment i put a set of wheels on it , the hovers stopped working.

Tilted mandrakes needed to be addressed, and I think it’s better that they did it the way they did than to just nerf mandrakes overall.

And I don’t recall them implementing any anti-tilt mechanism for other weapons, unless you are just talking about how tonnage now works with movement parts of different heights.

On that note though, I was under the impression that tilted builds can still use the tonnage of their small wheels, as long as those wheels are touching the ground. But it seems like that tonnage doesn’t get added to the display in build mode, so now I’m questioning that.
I don’t make many tilted builds, but I haven’t had any problems when I do, a t I see other people running tilted builds.

Changing the physical models to match the visual models isn’t really a reduction in build possibilities, at least not the way that I’m talking about. You might have to mount a gun differently, but you can still use it, and now you have a lot more armour pieces to hide it with.

There’s a big difference between increasing the number of potential builds through adding more parts (which is what I’m talking about), and changing parameters of older parts in ways that break old builds (what you are talking about).

I’m not sure what you are talking about. You can still mix hovers and wheels, and if you lose all your wheels, your hovers will keep on working.
What is this “press a button” mechanic you are referring to?
