Wheel Upgrade Smarts

Yeah. They’re good and two in the middle turn just as sharply as steering wheels and may make the rig more stable at high speed. Plus, a couple of non-steering wheels are an easy way to shave a ton of power drain off your build.

I used to build all my cars like this the first 2-3 years I played Crossout. In the last 3 years or so I can only remember making maybe 2 or 3 builds that use non-ST tires.

And even those builds I made for someone else or I made to post and not use.

I do know guys that still think the 2 non-st in the middle is the golden rule of building and if that is how they like the car to handle then that is the best for them.

To each his own - you do have to schools of thought on this.

The non-ST in the middle doesn’t handle quite the same way it did before the handbrake changes, but I still find it the best layout for maximum acceleration and tight cornering. Occasionally I’ll put all my ST wheels up front since the 2.0 update, to help compensate for mass imbalances.
I pretty much always use at least 2 non-ST, because I’m addicted to speed, and it’s the best way to get your power drain as low as possible.

Maybe this is why I fuse everything for power.

Most my wheel builds use 5-8 ST tires. (I have a few old 5 wheel Bigfoot builds I don’t play anymore)

I’ll run all power fused tires, a power fused engine and a power fused cabin.

I have some power fused wheels and cabins from various BPs, and they are even better when you reduce your power consumption with non-ST wheels.
But the reduced redundancy does sometimes result in me getting stuck driving in circles (or a straight line).

This is the main reason I don’t use them.

The first time I lose a few wheels and can’t turn because of non-STs I’m done with that car.

I use hermit non st for the middle of builds that use the electric wheels. Sometimes on sabbath builds.

But mainly i just tack a sabbath in the back. Because it turns.

You guys are convincing me on the power upgrade… sounds like it’s probably more useful than the traction.

I’ll frequently make builds with non-steering wheels in the middle. To help them corner even better, I’ll often mount a third steering wheel in the center of the front or rear (wherever it fits best). That often gives a noticeable change in how quick a heavier rig will rotate in a turn.

The added benefit of having an extra wheel if I get shot up is nice, too.

Try two non steering fairly wide apart in the front and two small steering (like landing gear or low profile) very close together on the back if you want ULTRA turning (think forklift style).

I sometimes build a frame with landing wheels, cabin and all modules, build a second frame around that with bigfoots on the outside. Armor the car like it only has bigfoots.
