Why do some people not build their own car?

Normally I don’t quote the whole post, but I absolutely agree on everything you’ve said there.
From the fighter of choice, all the way to the ‘Best game I ever hated’.

Yea, people can play what they want, but I’ve been put off by games with great gameplay just because the character/s felt off. And I’ve played games with not that good of a gameplay just because the character and atmosphere ware awesome.

Crossout is, while a shooter, ALSO somewhat of an RPG. Not much, but it is. It is a living changing world, and you are someone in it, with an evolving (albeit tiny simple) story.
I feel as though people who would play a literal heap of random shape that gives best performance would play a game that has Atari graphics. 2 white squares shooting a small square with a 1 note sound, as long as their square is optimized in performance vs that other square.
But hey, it’s their own right so go wild with building or just copy someone’s build if it doesen’t bother you.

Just that sometimes I wish of a new good looking (AND FASTER) car fighting game where building was restricted to:
Choose a base, heavy, mid or light. This is a hood slot, these are the many selections of hoods… These is the roof, pick one of he many roofs… etc for every part and detail. So whatever you make, fits the aesthetics of the game.

But Crossout is a gem just because of the no limit to what you craft. As much as we can hate it sometimes, it’s a beautiful thing. It’s like a deformed little puppy with one eye and 5 crippled legs, and God it’s ugly sometimes, but it’s your unique puppy. Sh!ts on the bed (still better than a certain someone), takes a lot of time to care for it and it’s so slow… Buuut, you love it.

Regarding how competitive builds look.

I know several guys who consistently play Silver-Gold leagues using art crafts. Not in the sense of driving a duck with Scorpion wings around, but as close to an art craft as possible. For example, a Blight+Draco build that looks like a police car, with Screeners surroundinng the Dracos like a futuristic hood. It doesn’t have anti-hover horns, but still performs very good against meta opponents. These guys also drive open Retcher and Breaker cars on Jannabi that actually look like cool sportcars. With no spaced armor. And win.
I, personally, stick to spaced armor and mainly play hovers, but also try making them look as aesthetically pleasing as possible. Literally the best aspect of this game is combining style and effectiveness. Building a well-functioning clan wars viable craft from scratch is difficult, but once you’ve seen enough meta builds, you can easily create one yourself.

Its good that you get such enjoyment from making builds. Some people in my clan HATE making builds but love the game. The game gives different things to different people.

I don’t understand people who don’t like building, but I am glad the exhibition system accommodates them.
Something for everyone!

Because having fun isn’t fun. Winning is fun. If I’m doing good in the game I’m doing good in life 🫡

So true.

But you can win AND look cool… Well some of us can

This.
What I find fun is winning WHILE looking good.

I can split fun in a game into 3 equal parts:
1- Gameplay (Both actual mechanic, exploration and things to do, as well as replay value and reward for effort)
2- Winning (Only when there is a challenge so it makes sense)
3- Aesthetics (What’s the point of good graphics if you yourself look like sh!t in the game.)

I find that the builds that look good but still perform well are low to mid PS clubbers.

And I’m not talking about the guy that brings relics to low levels.

I’m talking about the dude that has been playing for years, has all the armor, all the drivers maxed, all the parts fused, all the skills needed and still insists on playing low to mid PS.

Now I personally do not have a problem with this. If the game lets you do it, then more power to you.

But do not confuse min/maxed low to mid builds with there much lesser counterparts. These are night and day. The “Skill” level required is much less when your not on an even playing field.

Because blueprints are free and meta is pretty linear.

Some players don’t build their own cars because they are aware and more humble Concerning their own capabilities. They don’t want to turn out like Ferrarifrank and fail at any attempt to make a build that can catch a hover.

Tis true. The potential beauty of rides in this game is stunted by people chasing meta. And trying to reach for any advantage they can.

How true. And many people will never be able to build like this.

I remember way back just trying to pick a part and figure out how it fits would take forever. Now that I’ve basically memorized all the parts and where they are in my inventory as well as know how their hit boxes interact it is far easier for me to make beautiful functional rides.

Ps. I put at least some spaced armour on all my builds basically, unless it’s a super small micro build or I’m trying to fit it in two aegis bubbles center. My generators don’t get piped by scorps easy at all. They have to dig through spaced armour to get to my generators.

I’m in love with fenders. Because they help act a bit like spaced armour if you use them a certain way and they look good doing it.

Sad that the biggest concern on Crossout currently is “Why don’t people play the game the way I think it should be played?” And not the fact that most players on the PS4 (and PS5 as it turns out) platform are experiencing a crucial bug; frame drop. Why is your biggest concern that people are playing the game the way they want?

Welcome to the community K_a_T_a_R_i
The forum told me this was your first post, and asked to welcome you, so here it is.

What you might view as complaints or the crying of other people, could also be people just posting their ideas or asking questions dont you think?
no need to go all condescending in your first post here.

IDK, but the exhibition here is extensive, and there are some cool builds in there. It would be a shame to see that feature go unappreciated, wouldn’t it?

I’ve used it only a few times. Once to break open a shotgun-wedge to see what was inside, and once just to get some fresh ideas.

I retooled that one to my taste, but it’s essentially something I saw on the Exhibition.
