Why does the enemy vehicle have to die before we get our points?

Are the scoring rules and system posted anywhere? I see the little things coming up in matches, but I’m not really paying attention to them, and the wording is unclear on the ones I do notice.

Kind of makes sense from lore pov? Your scrap reward is technically slavaging the cars of enemies that have been destroyed, your share depends on how much you contributed. So if no cars have been destryoed to salvage, what would the reward be?
