You know what would be really cool for winter? Sea Smoke! It would be cool if there was another map that had a large body of water nearby, and there would be smoke rising from it in the winter months.
I was a relatively early Twitter adopter because I used to work in media, so I had to have an account. Got kind of addicted to it, and had a few thousand followers eventually.
But it’s been truly impressive at how quickly Musk has completely destroyed his own myth since he took over. No one who has seen how he’s run the company into the ground can believe that he’s smart anymore. Literally just a rich kid who got lucky, and who has some skill getting government subsidies to keep himself afloat. It’s shocking how many truly dumb things he does each day over there.
That makes sense, but at the same time makes the developers look weak for not implementing more maps. I have a hard time rationalizing why there are so few maps, and why Adventure mode is so completely discarded, because in my mind that seems like the more enjoyable and simpler end of development.
I think they would get the most bang for their buck in this area of development (maps), and man-hours spent there would be very productive in turning this game into a more interesting experience. Instead we get menus.
I like the new menus, but at the same time I don’t find they enhance my game experience much. In some cases I feel like it makes things worse, like how Wall Mart rearranges the furniture every few months to confuse the customers and make them wander around lost in the store longer. It’s hard to appreciate…but I do like the latest graphics and sound FX (other than the paints being off color)…I don’t like the new build menu much either.
If building more maps doesn’t put significant weight on the servers, then they should stop screwing around and get on it, IMO.
Losing traction doesn’t matter when camera steering just corrects your mistakes like a toddler with training wheels
What does camera steering have to do with wheel traction?
The new controls are only for strafing parts, which already have tons of traction. Well, except for on slippery hills, where some strafing parts can come to a standstill.
Yeah you’re right lets advocate to screw over the already least viable movement part
I don’t want any more traction available to my wheels than what can be achieved through fusion. I like wheels that drift, and it feel like it’s an even more useful feature now, with all the other kids on omnidirectional movement parts.
I’d like better acceleration, as has been a common request for over a year now, and seems even more relevant today.
That old hand brake trick wouldn’t be unfair to bring back either, in light of all the other more advantageous movement parts recently introduced…has nothing to do with winter maps, though.
If they introduced more winter maps, my only request would be that they continue to use the subdued lighting. The white light is hard on my eyes, and I’m glad that the Volcano features very soft lighting. Marble Quarry is just ugly, but that’s JMO, and besides the point.
What are you talking about?
I feel like you’re having a conversation with someone else, but quoting me for some reason.
Camera steering has nothing to do with wheel traction. Whether wheels should have more or less traction is a totally different conversation than anything to do with strafing parts.
Anyway, don’t you run racing wheels because you like sliding? If you don’t like sliding, maybe it’s time to graduate to epic wheels?
One of examples players not understanding what they wish for.
Snow is just bright white. Makes it hard for eyes. Need to make it either dark time or loaded with other details and/or rather partially snowed, either of which losses that snowy ambience. As they did for ravager chase event and we actually have a snow map. Takes some extra effort and gpu costly things to bring details that would make snow feel snow and not just blinding white boring thing.
For hoevers to have even more advantage? Not a fan.
Besides, we have chained and studded wheels, should they have different grip setting… would make sense but I don’t like making movement hard for wheels, they been mediocre movement option for years, why punish them even more?
I do think the devs need to adjust the settings for terrain traction differences.
Makes sense to slide around on ice, but the sand, snow, and wet settings are too slippery to feel real, and effectively nerf wheels for those surfaces.
Also, I wish they would undo the last change they made to handbrakes. It was a response to players who only use ST wheels and were used to handbrake providing a full wheel lock, but now handbrake is too sticky for anyone who was used to a mix of ST and non-ST wheels, and also doesn’t give the all-ST players that speed boost on release that they were used to. Reverting to the original 2.0 handbrake would be ideal. Those who use all-ST wheels can just use the normal brake if they need a quick full stop.
I regularly use handbrake for sharper turns on my 2xST + 2xnonST builds. Kind of got used to way things are now.
If I’m not mistaking here, new handbrake was introduced with full rework of suspension and wheels, so probably there’s no going back, if there were any point in it at all.
Was sort of bug and doesn’t make sense physically.
I basically agree with you, but I do think they cranked up the stopping power of handbrakes too much when people freaked out at the original change.
Regardless, I’m used to it now too, so it’s not a big deal. I mostly only notice it when I’m not at full speed, and that’s fair. I just think the original 2.0 rework was better than the “fixes” they added after some users got mad.
And yes, that speed boost thing didn’t need to be there, and it’s fine that it’s gone.
Sure it did; clutch popping and gear shifting simulation. It’s the closest thing this “car” game ever had to gears and a clutch (if you used 2 ST and 2 non-ST)
Any wheel config actually.
It didn’t had any sense because this effect only worked if you had like 100 km/h speed, and stopped with handbrake.
It didn’t gave any boost if the car was stationary and started moving.
So it worked like KERS gathering kinetic energy while braking and storing it in spinning flywheel and applying it as boost when you go. That actually perfectly makes sense, and can actually be idea for a module. But I’m rather sure devs didn’t intend every vehicle to have kers a standard issue back than.
I have played the game over 6 years. I am well aware of what I ask for. I even know how it would look in the game, because we have had winter maps in the past.
White doesn’t place any more load on your gpu than any other color. What you talkin bout Willis? This game isn’t Cyberpunk or Starfield… it doesn’t require a 4090 to play at high fps.
I that supposed to be proof of expertise?
White doesn’t gives much feeling of snow rather just annoys eyes. Quarry isn’t snow but already rather unpleasant.
Yes, direct experience in fact is a qualifier in just about everything in the world. Or do you think I never drove a single map in 6 years and 40,000+ games? Experience matters.
I find it illogical and wonder what qualifier you use to rate your experience above mine or to completely disregard experience at all.
That is not what you stated previously.
As far as your worries about hover advantages, they could make it a “wheels only” 30 day event with some trash fused stuff . I do not mean they should make a permanent change to maps.
But I do want extra slippy/slidy map or event for winter.
Also if white bothers you really bad, make sure you turn down the blue on your monitor/tv. Or if you have a gygabyte M27Q (first model that is bgr instead of rgb), get a different monitor.
