I know it’s been mentioned before that a lot of server sided systems are straining the server load, I’m hoping if it would be possible to change player controls from being server sided to being client sided. If it wouldn’t be possible, I would at least like to have the Asia servers be more readily available even if it has to be loaded with bots.
I’m playing the game from Southeast Asia, as of late the only servers I’m getting connected to were either NA or Europe and trying to control my vehicles with 200-300ms ping feels horrible. There’s almost a full second or two of delay in all of my inputs that results in the game being a jittery mess, driving anything feels like it’s driving on ice, my weapons take a long time to turn in order to aim as if I’m driving a tank, and firing anything is delayed like the powders were being lit up by matches. And the new Brawl “Wheel of Doom” highlights all of these problems very well, as it is nearly impossible to time my shots right with slow moving projectiles when my vehicle takes a full second or two to respond to anything.
Fixing the player vehicles to respond clientside instead of server side would fix a lot of these issues for me, I know there are concerns regarding this change opening it’s doors to hackers, but from my experience with other games that’s fully server-sided (namely APB:Reloaded), the systems being server-sided does not stop cheating issues from running rampant, in fact it only makes the cheating issue worse because relying on server sided systems to prevent cheating will create a blindspot on monitoring clientsided systems which allows cheats like macros, triggers, and aimbot to thrive. Only a good anti-cheat system could hope to prevent cheating being a recurring issue. Another concern that may arise from clientsided controls is hit registration or detection when it comes to melee weapons, it could seem unfair that your vehicle gets clipped by a melee weapon while it’s quite a distance away from the weapon hitting you, but in my opinion it’s still a fair tradeoff that you’re still able to hit your melee weapons as reliably than not being able to hit them at all because you turned half a second too late and the game registered that you didn’t turn at all.
tl;dr, would love to have player controls be clientsided, if not please allow the asia servers be more populated.
