[1/3] Hard Truck Apocalypse (Ex Machina) - Weapons, Cabins, Maps - Source of many inspirations!

I myself am a big fan of HTA so i kinda feel obligated to make this. Especially after the devs didn’t do much at HTA anniversary to support it’s memory~~

Shortly speaking for those who don’t know - Hard Truck Apocalypse is an old vehicular RPG game from Targem and Buka which is a singleplayer sequel for Crossout ( HTA was made earlier but it’s action takes place later in Crossout’s timeline ). HTA has many weapons, cabins, factions which could serve as an inspiration for future stuff being added to Crossout.

Some of you ( for example Blasted_Off ) know the game and it’s content, but I want to list some of the stuff from the game for those who haven’t played it ( though they should, it’s dirt cheap on Steam ).

Let’s start with the guns:

1. Weapons of size 2x2:

  • 1.1-Name: Szerszeń [PL], Hornet [ENG]

Ingame description: “5.45mm machinegun is the weakest weapon you can arm your truck with” This is the first weapon you get. Behaves similiarly to our Hornet. Weak damage, medium accuracy, medium firerate. You won’t go far by using only this weapon. Not sure if there is a point of making this a CK for our Hornet though it would make a nice addition.

  • 1.2-Name: Upiór [PL], Specter [ENG]

Ingame description: “5.45mm paired machinegun is a lot more effective than it’s one-barreled prototype” This can be your second weapon. Decent at the beginning of the game, but there are better alternatives. Normal damage, normal accuracy, good firerate. Does the name and the model look similiar to something? :wink: It could serve as a CK for our Spectre-2.

  • 1.3-Name: Sztorm [PL], Storm [ENG]

Ingame description: “Shotgun deal heavy damage in close distance” In terms of performance it works the same as our Junkbow. Alice uses this gun all the time, wchich makes you laugh when she wants to kick your butt with it. It can be useful in early stages in the game, but only in close range. Damage is decent as for a shotgun and it has more range than Junkbow.

Ingame description: “7.62mm machinegun - It will propably save you a difficult journey” A really good machinegun. You can get this gun in the early game if you decide to help locals to deal with bandits. It has great accuracy, long range and good damage. Best choice at the begging of the game. It behaves like our Vector but doesn’t have that huge spread when firing full auto. Maybe it could be a CK for our Piercer but because that is unnacurate it wouldn’t make much sense.

  • 1.5-Name: Kord [PL]&[ENG]

Ingame description: “12.7mm machinegun - a nice weapon to defend from the raiders” It’s basically PKT’s brother, hovewer it deals noticeably more damage, but has lower rate of fire. The range is same as PKT’s but has a bit lower accuracy. It could also serve as a CK for some machinegun.

Damage: 65 - Rate of fire: 90rpm - Fire distance: 800m - Accuracy: 100%

Ingame description: “Smallest military laser is more a decoration than the real weapon, but it has it’s pluses though” First weapon of this kind you can get if you take down a local troublemaker in second region. You can’t really compare it to our Synthesis because it behaves differently. When holding the trigger is fires a small plasma particles every second or so. It has high damage but medium bullet speed so you need to lead on further ranges. It’s a horrible weapon of choice in the begining because it cost a lot to repair after heavy battles, so it’s better to just sell it. There is no weapon of this type in Crossout so it would be a nice addition.

Damage: 400 - Rate of fire: 15rpm - Fire distance: 2000m - Accuracy: 100%

Ingame description: “N/A” - translators accidentaly copied Octopus description here. Do not confuse it’s name with that insult word, haha. It works just like a little version of Quasar but turns faster. It’s technically the best 2x2 size weapon, expensive but still. It’s too small to be a CK for Quasar so it could be a rare plasma weapon so that Synthesis wouldn’t be the only rare plasma weapon.

2. Weapons of size 2x3:

  • 2.1-Name: Wektor [PL], Vector [ENG]

Ingame description: “Powerful cannon. A good choice for novice adventurer” This is basically the same weapon in both games. It has a little bit less spread, slower rate of fire and feels kinda different in usage in HTA though. CK pls?.

Ingame description: “14.5mm machinegun pierces armor as if it were paper” My favourite 2x3 size weapon. Four barreled extremely loud monster will make you deaf especially if you have 3 of those mounted on your vehicle. High rate of fire, good damage and good accuracy. Imagine a double Spectre-2 with being twice as loud. It is a great example for a new weapon in Crossout.

Ingame description: “This minigun sends thousands of bullets towards its target” Remember when Equalizer used to be called Vulcan? Now you know why. It performs pretty much the same but has constant damage and lower bullet travel distance. It could serve as a CK for Equalizer.

Ingame description: “20mm long-range cannon will let you attack from far” It works kinda like our Little Boy but has no bullet drop, instant bullet hit, infinite ammo and high turn speed. Damage is pretty low as for a cannon. I never really used this in my playthroughs. This being a weapon in Crossout could be a bit op, so at least it could serve as a CK for Little Boy.

Ingame description: “Heavy shotgun will blast anyone who dares to get too close” One of the most powerfull weapons in the game. Imagine a Nidhogg but as a Slug ( one big bullet ) ammo type, long range, hitting targets instantly and 3 times as big damage. Flag creates an impact shockwave at the impact point damaging all things around. Three of those is pretty much an insta kill for most enemies. Due to the shockwave damage you could kill your allies without angering them if you shoot next to them instead of shooting directly at them :smiley: . Slug shotgun should be in Crossout. Flag’s model could be a good example for it.

Ingame description: “Strikes a large area with high speed and damage” Middle game mortar weapon, not that effective but still fun to use. Big damage, infinite ammo and slow rate of fire. It kinda works like our Impulse but instead of grenades it fires mortar shells. They don’t create fire in impact point though. It would make a nice addition as a blue version of Mandrake with low damage or at least as Impulse’s CK.

Ingame description: “20mm quick-firer is a nice selection for a two legged beast hunt” It fights for the place of being most powerful in the game. There’s no weapon like this in XO. Imagine an extremelly loud triple barrel full auto insanely accurate mid-long range shotgun with instant hit creating a impact shockwave similiar to Flag’s. People often use this weapon due to it’s devastating power. When you equip weapon upgrade modules the Rainmetal becomes so overpowered it’s straight up broken. With 4 upgrade modules the game can’t even play the sound of this weapon correctly. Please add this to Crossout :DDD

Ingame description: “Good to get rid of numerous weak enemies” It’s kinda better version on Bumblebee if you miss a lot. You can get this weapon in middle-end game. It fire about three times as fast than it’s one barrel version. It kinda works like Retcher but fires one shells quickly instead of four at the same time. It could be an epic mortal weapon or at least corrected CK for Retcher.

Ingame description: “Spectacular and destructive weapon” It’s a better version of Maxim and that’s about it. With firerate upgrade modules this weapon is really deadly. It could be added into Crossout as a epic plasma weapon, so that Prometheus V won’t be alone.

Ingame description: “Energy weapon” It’s like a pink Quasar with similiar size. Behaviour of the weapon is the same though it turns faster and has infinite ammo. It is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, three of those can carry you out of any situation. Often choiced by players. It’s can serve as a CK for Quasar.

3. Weapons of size 3x4:

  • 3.1-Name: Cyklop [PL], Cyclops [ENG]

Ingame description: “37mm long range cannon” This is a turret cannon, with great accuracy, moderate reload speed and medium damage and infinite ammo. It works similiar to our Little Boy or Mammoth but it’s bullets have no height dropoff with distance and hit the target instantly. It could be used as a CK for Little Boy or Mammoth.

  • 3.2-Name: Kalmar [PL], Octopus [ENG]

Ingame description: “20mm rapid-fire canon can shake down an aircraft” This four barrel extremely loud machinegun. Basically KPVT but bigger. Very similiar to our Punisher. Still a CK of it would be nice.

Ingame description: “Ultimate argument on the battlefield. One hit can burn to ashes a middle sized truck” Basically BFG. This is an endgame monster, pretty rare but it’s on the edge of being broken OP. Though you can get one from Alex midgame. Having two of these mounted on can oneshot most of the enemies in game. This weapon behaves similiarly to our Pulsar with the projectile behaviour, though it is bigger and has infinite ammo.

Damage: 306 - Rate of fire: 54rpm - Fire distance: 600m - Accuracy: 100%

Ingame description: “Fires a burst of missiles” Rarely seen rocket launcher only purchasable in few major towns. It can fire 24 missiles total. Then you need to buy ammo for it in towns or fuel stations. It has a lock on system that could be implemented to our Hurricanes. It behaves differently though so it could be a new rocket launcher in XO.

Ingame description: “Deal a lot of damage on enemies within certain radius” Also rare rocket luncher. It works similiar as HTA’s Hurricane, same lock on system and one rocket each time. Hovewer it can shot 18 missiles at max before needing to resupply ammo for it. Idea for a new missile launcher for Crossout or a CK.

Ingame description: “N/A” Weapon permanently put on Tank’s AI enemies. You cannot get this weapon in normal gameplay without cheating. The cannon is really good though. In gameplay it feels like Cyclops but has more kick to it. Good CK idea for XO’s Elephant or Fatman.

Ingame description: “Most powerful rocket launcher” Most common rocket launcher but still rare to find. It can fire 8 shots ( 16 missiles total / 2 missiles per 1 salvo) at max before resupplying. It’s different from the launchers the Hunter AI vehicles have. Either new rocket launcher for XO or just a CK.

Ingame description: “Damages all cars to the right and to the left of your truck” Very rare mortar weapon. It’s not very usefull in battle. It can fire 2 shots ( 12 mortar shells / 6 shells per 1 salvo ) at max before resupplying. It’s aim is fixed so it’s difficult to hit something unless you’re surrounded. Not sure if such weapon fits Crossout but whatever.

Ingame description: “Lightning hits all enemy cars around” Very rare weapon. It’s the only plasma weapon with ammo limit. It can fire 4 shots at max before resupplying. It divides the damage across surrounding enemy vehicles. It’s good at killing many weak cars or single big cars that have no additional resistance to energy weapons. Same as Mars, not sure if it fits Crossout.

Ingame description: “For use in extreme situations only” Propably rarest rocket launcher and most devastating. It kinda behaves like vertical XO’s Hurricane with autolock. It can fire 3 shots ( 36 rockets in total / 12 missiler per 1 salvo) at max before resupplying. It kills anything without much problem. Either make XO’s Hurricane be only able to be placed horizontally and make Hail a new verticall missile launcher or just simply make it a CK for our Hurricane.

Ingame description: “It deals a good amount of damage over a short period” The only place i saw that weapon exist was in colloseum battle. I’m not sure if it can drop but i haven’t seen it anywhere else. This rocket launcher can fire 14 shots ( 28 missiles total / 2 missiles per 1 salvo ) at max before resupplying. New missile launcher for XO?

5. Vehicle weapons / Gadgets 2x1:

  • 5.1-Name: Jeż 2 [PL], Hedgehog 2 [ENG]

Ingame description: “More dangerous mine” Minelayer weapon that can place 20 mines max before resupplying. There are 3 minelyer weapons in HTA: Hedgehog 1, Hedgehog 2 and Whirlpool. The difference between them in mine’s damage. I could not find Whirlpool mine layer anywhere but it is definitelly buyable. Either new weapon or CK.

Ingame description: “Smoke screen will not allow enemies to catch you too fast” This can be purchases at some bigger towns. Overall the most useless “weapon” in the game. It can fire 20 shots before resupplying. A better version of this in XO for tactical crossing like in shooter games?

Ingame description: “Certain way to outrun your enemies” It creates an oil “circle” behind your vehicle. When you’re on it you can’t turn. Not much use of it either. It can fire 20 shots before resupplying. Not sure if it fits XO.

Ingame description: “Stops enemies for several seconds” It deploys nails behind your truck that stops enemies that drive on them. Maybe a new weapon for XO or at least as a spikestrip?.

Ingame description: “Increases your truck’s speed for several seconds” Most useful gadget in the game. It gives your vehicle a short kick in acceleration and max speed. Very usefull in travelling. It can be used 26 times at max before resupplying. A 1 energy module for XO would be great. I know we have boosters but they’re kinda lame. We’re making cars, not space rockets with wheels. Such module would work like a nitro in racing games that let’s say- every 20 seconds we can get amazing acceleration and a bit higher max speed for 5 seconds or so.
