You can disagree but you have to explain why, just like I explained my point of view here :
You can mount heavy cabs on hovers, but either you ll have to put a lot of them, or you won’t have a lot of HP (for an heavy cab), or you´ll just be slow because of the huge power drain.
I may be wrong because I’ve never played them but I think hover builds for astra would be a good lower ps choice for people running dual mammoths on echo and hovers. Because they’re already used to having less armor and possibly die pretty easily from getting flanked, that or dying from losing your astras/blowing yourself cause mounted on the cab, I dont see much difference. Sure they’re not the most popular builds but I’ve seen some here and there and they were usually pretty decent players with such combos.
I think some of my turn off for the weapon is I look at it like a overpowered desperation gun. No one in combat wants to really use the weapon that could lose them a battle. Meanwhile the conceptual idea of it is fine and realistic however in the game our more trollie population mocks those that can’t bring home the match bacon win. To me the idea of the weapon would be better in a non-team environment i.e pve.
True but I think that’s more of a game issue than the weapon itself, like sometimes I feel like devs knows they can hardly nerf anything meta too much without too much backlash and that theyre trying to tackle the problem by adding new more (not by much but still) balanced weapons. I can appreciate the idea/attempt if thats what they’re going for but i aint sure it will work, guess we’ll see.
I would agree with you on the point of they are constrained via user complaints. I’m not sure if this is a good way to break the mold though. Some players might find the fun in how to use the weapon but others might find it frustration. To me the users mostly complain if something loses a match though. That last charged shot can be that factor. That’s why I think it’s a bad mechanic.
If they add in that a build with the weapon firing in a charged state can’t be reduced to zero durability from it’s own damage I think that would solve for a lot of my issue.
Have you ever used echo on hovers? It does not have an issue at all. You can be insanely fast with 2k hp. Or move at a decent pace and have more like 3khp. Ermak and echo have the same same stats basically.
Nice gun but regular shots do too little damage, and charge shots take too long to charge if you’re running them attached to a heavy cabin like you’re “supposed” to be. Playing a sideways hover it’s easy to attach the guns onto a cabin as opposed to other builds but then again what doesn’t perform much better on a sideways hover than on any other build ha ha.
They are fun guns though, and they aren’t absolute crap. If it stays as it is, it’s a nice medium efficiency gun. If they buff it, it’ll be much better. If they nerf it, I’m selling these right away and replacing them with tripple Median
I tested the gun and got 25 charged shot before destroying mounting points.
It destroys the mounting parts first so here is what i did. Mount the gun so it sits on :
2 x Elbows
1 x gun mount
the corner on a cabin.
If the cabin is that machinist, it just fired until i got bored of counting charged shots. Its decent damage for the rarity but i am against a weapon that damages your own build.
The Astra is in a terrible spot cause it maxes out at about 380 damage if you don’t damage yourself, while they do 570 with the perk used. This means the gun does 50% more damage 100% of the time as long as you use the perk. What weapons in this game have a perk that overpowers its base damage that much?
i just really dont like this weapon. sure its a bit strong but its… just not good enough. the damage it does to your own vehicle to is a major downside.
downsides:
charging the shot. long charge time.
missing damages your vehicle.
hitting damages your vehicle.
cars move, so precision is key with this weapon for a charge shot.
damages your cabin / any parts its attached to.
is a rail gun like the scorpion but less efficient.
i think it would be good if the gun instead restored your hp upon hitting its target and repairing itself a set amount. like restored the cabin hp but doesnt do anything else for parts its attached to. i got this due to the solar pannels on it. maybe hitting a direct shot activates the pannels which helps restore the durability of the weapon and cabin, or it uses the leftover electricity to restore its hp and the hp of your cabin.
I don’t understand the love for this gun either. It is significantly worse than the Assembler, a bad legendary weapon that is widely available at a very cheap price.
Two of them will match the damage of two scorpions when charged for a much lower price. Put them on a heavy build that packs on the HP and you’ll have a giant pile of HP you can spend on charged shots.
