Boycotting Crossout because of fixed matches

I’m trying to hit everybody a little and knock their guns or wheels off to help my team mates survive (while I’m dealing with my own schit), but gddmn…I’ve got one guy who’s so over weight that even with a booster he’s still the last guy to arrive anywhere, then there’s this other guy with only two omni wheels and a pair of cannons, nobody else lives long enough for me to get a look at their builds.

They all tend to get ground up by the melee pretty fast (me too sometimes), one of whom (there’s always at least a couple) is usually my first kill, because if I don’t kill all the melee first, that’s what they do; Chew’em all up, because everybody seems to think that reverse is the hard counter to melee bricks. IDK why, but they totally do. It almost never works, but they will almost always try it anyway.

You’re probably playing against groups of 3 or 4 that are all experienced players. If you’re playing solo, the game will fill your team with random players that are likely to be less experienced and skilled. My win/loss ratio is drastically different when I’m grouped or solo.

If you are playing 10k ground vehicle lobbies solo, you will get slaughtered by roaming clans of hover sweats. You have to have a diverse array of powerscore builds. One for 2k lobbies for Scrap metal grinding, one for 6k helos, and one sturdy gun truck build for raids.
I use AutoCanons and MGs. AutoCanons are a flexible weapon that I rely on for any situation.

You must be on console? There are no 2K lobbies on PC…I mean there are, but you can’t play them if you are above level 30 engineers. Playing anywhere under 3K can result in the endless queue of doom, where you sit in limbo for an eternity.

Console and PvP experiences are somewhat different. When it comes to exposed Retchers on a tiny 4 wheeler on PC where half the population is running hitscan weapons with m&k… your mileage may vary, as they say.

The froggy helmet girl profile picture is one I always wanted but don’t have :frowning:

Even I’m not running my retchers in pvp currently… too much hassle with hitscan… I’m keeping range between myself and my opponents… only get away with the fortunes because of the Aegis.

my post reported by the community even though it was a steam pic with player count? Ha ha ha feel free to report it. Self-imposed censorship of the truth will not save this game.

Ya, kids weren’t falling for my schit so much when I tried it…at first. I did manage to pick up an MVP last night using a similar style (fast and Naked).

I can’t manage a cloak and a drone using the Manitou, but the Averter that took its seat is helping me keep my guns better…or it could be that nobody is actually using guns in PVP, and it’s all booster pigs and melee bricks. IDK.

It’s got a Grenadier in the trunk that helps maximize victim confusion a little.

I’m pretty tired of all the melee, though…so I fused some Tempuras? Ya, I did. I don’t always make sense, but they really slice through melee bricks well…it’s like buttah.

So you think a decline in Steam players means other launcher and platforms will be increasing? Lol People are obviously leaving steam for the Gaijin launcher in record numbers hahah

Yes, it does. I have bought games (back when they came on disks) that ended up using Steam to launch, so I went out and got Pirated versions so I don’t have to, just to avoid Steam.

I don’t use steam to launch this game either, so that chart doesn’t included me in it’s numbers.

Having said that, I can feel the void when I play. The game always feels like schit when the numbers are low. Also, I’ve had a few dramatically long queue times for PVP, and even some minute long queues for Patrols, which are usually almost instantaneous.

If those numbers were less severe I wouldn’t give it much consideration, but the drop from 12K to where we are now (5-6K and still falling) is spectacular, and probably indicative of a wider exodus.

To ignore a correlation between declining Steam numbers and other launchers just because we don’t have their numbers would be just ignorant, that’s all.

They certainly do seem to reflect themselves in the amount of success I have playing. It’s always more fun (not getting pwnd) when the Steam chart says the numbers are up, and when they drop, everything sucks.

It becomes really difficult as a lone stranger in PVP, probably due to a higher concentration of squads (kids loitering about for Confrontation mode), and then on top of that the long queues, just to get pwnd by a squad (again).

So, I believe the numbers are relevant, but how relevant? IDK. I’d really like some honest and straight forward numbers just for the sake of veracity, and the Steam chart isn’t really it. It’s a good clue, though, and I’d be concerned if I was depending on this game’s success for a paycheck. Those numbers are in a free fall.

They might ought to invest in some toe-jacks, work-boots, and a drywall knife over there at Targem…or they could focus on making this game more fun and less sadistic.

Trace the graph on steam looking at the data from 2017 to end of October 2023. If you do that you probably wouldn’t say it’s declining. The game has gone as low as 4k in the past and the graph is showing near 8.5k which was the high from oct 13th which was the release date for the helis. Most of the traffic normally sits between 4-7k at a time which is fairly stable for the game with a few higher peaks which might also correlate with events and similar happenings.

Regardless of the numbers there, they probably should really look at using other providers other than just relying on Steam too. Epics store doesn’t care what engine they use and they also support all the platforms Crossout is on already with a larger userbase.

That sounds like a good idea, especially considering the recent review bombing they endured for nerfing resources though Clan Wars…like they appear to be doing again with Shell Casings. Feels like they are just doubling down on stupid, if that’s what they are up to.

Anyway, I don’t think they do marketing very well, and getting out from under Steam might be a good way to re-brand this game…unless it’s too late. This game has been pretty rough on its audience. Only the nut-jobs like myself remain. I don’t think they have a very good reputation, and I could only give them mixed reviews myself.

Also we only had a 100%+ increase due to the closure of the Chinese version. I feel like people like to gloss over this for some reason… so to be where it is now after a 100%+ increase… that’s bad.

We don’t even know if they stuck around as If I remember correctly were lacking Chinese language support. I know I saw a few posts about it and know the percentage of English speakers in China only sits around 0.9%, further reduce that via gaming age. So we can’t really be sure how many of them stayed. Beyond that Chinese law has 18yo and younger limited to no more then one of per day 8pm-9pm on weekends and holidays and prohibits it during the school week. So that will also cut in to those game age stats.

It’s not that it’s being glossed over, it’s that the steam chart only shows concurrent users. So it might not even be noticeable many of the other time zones unless logging in during Chinese peak gaming hours, especially weekends, holidays.
