Back then the core game was fresh and still interesting. Now it’s old and stale. We still have the same stuff now as we did back then… pvp matches, raids, brawls and pve. the only “new” thing is the heli’s and legs mode which tbh is just a different (and crap) pvp mode. Nothing new has come along at all.
But the game is still new to all the new players. It might be stale to us vets but for new players the experience is still fresh. My clan is entirely made up of new players but the devs is just letting these players slip because the game leaves an awful first impression very quick. It will take one hell of a makeover for crossout to feel new again to the veterans. I say the best way to retain new players for minimum effort is to increase the rewards and decrease the time it takes to reach level 30. There’s always new things to do in game be it brawls or whatever but none of it seems to be working to keep new players around.
This is one of those games that soon after trying any reasonable thinking person would run for the hills so the dev’s need to hand out has many carrots as possible and add a bit more value to peoples time because it is quite obvious they have definitely overreached their market cap. You know what businesses does when something ain’t selling? they decrease prices that’s what they do, even permanently and that’s what crossout needs, a raise for everybody and the population might eventually start to grow a little when everyone is getting rewarded.
