I saw a bunch of people in Gen chat today talking about the forums shutting down soon (potentially). I’m not sure when it is supposed to shut down, but I am making this topic to say goodbye. Soon, we will start a new Era of XO, one without the forums. Most of us will mourn the loss of the forums, and some may never fully recover, but we will (hopefully) still have XO itself. May the XO forums Rest in Peace, and may its users continue on.

If anyone has any final words before the forums shut down, please post them here.
If you cannot post anything, I’m afraid you are too late.
Well if it does shut down, it’s been fun guys. About 2 years ago the “World Of” forums were also shut down and moved to discord or reddit, iirc, with biblical wailing and gnashing of teeth. I didn’t migrate with them because I know nothing about discord and wasn’t interested in learning, and the few times I looked at reddit, seemed like all it was about was posting cartoon images. I don’t think it means the end of the Crossout game; but it may be a liabilty issue for the devs considering the political system they live under.
Dont be silly, thats kreml propaganda! The costs for running this forum are completely negligible for targem or gajin. Besides that, game forums, or reddit for that matter, are basically never profitable and dont have to be either.
It doesnt matter anyway. I meticulously recreated this forum:
One and a half cripples used the forum. Everyone else uses the more convenient discord and soyddit or vk. Why would a (extremely greedy btw) company maintain something that is frankly rudimentary and useless?
I feel like message boards are seen as a bit old fashioned now. I suspect most people under 40 would probably prefer the Reddit or discord.
The other potential reason could be liability stuff. Different countries have different laws about whether a website can be held responsible for what the users post. They may see it as better to let Reddit and discord being the ones on the hook, rather than run their own message boards.
Also, gaijin might be getting a little nervous about how the War Thunder forum is now famous for users repeatedly posting classified military documents to win arguments. The more recent leaks were Russian stuff, which might be a bigger problem for them than the US and UK stuff that had been leaked there in the past.
Have they said anything about closing down the War Thunder forum?
Yea the war thunder forum is way more active in like at least 20 times more active minimum but I still wouldn’t count this forum out yet just because the russian one was closed. They might be trying to get everyone all in one place and decided to go with the english one instead. To be fair the war thunder forum don’t have a russian section either I don’t think so they could be attempting to keep everything all in the one language.
I think I might ask over there if they even got a russian speaking section just to ease your minds a little, if they don’t well it could be simply gaijin keeping everything simple with one language.
Anyways I found a section called national communities but it is more like a subsection of the main forum, maybe that’s what they are planning on doing and making english the primary language and the russian language would fall under national communities I dunno.
as much as nobody cares about this forum, its way better than discord. you will never achieve anything on discord, everything will be flooded by messages and nobody will read anything
…works just like we use this forum. Its all in discussion, so one main thread with posts in it. Discord isnt right for this.
Liability? I dont know. I do know you know what kind of stuff has been posted and sometimes not moderated here. I think youve said so yourself.
Nobody has ever posted anything remotely as crazy as classified information on this forum or the old one. Have you?
anyways,
My issue is that if I start using Reddit for this, I’ll also start using it for other things, and then I’ll be on Reddit all the time. Too much internet for me.
No, this game isn’t realism based, so no one is going to post tank manuals to win arguments. My theory was more that Gaijin might be dealing with some problems from the War Thunder board, and I could see them getting spooked and deciding to kill off all the forums they’re responsible for and let Reddit deal with the liability risk.
With this forum, you occasionally get stuff that could be considered hate speech in some countries, but I doubt we’re big enough for anyone to take note of it. But laws are constantly changing, and some countries are getting more assertive about regulating sites. That growing complexity might be a small factor, as I’m sure Gaijin doesn’t want to spend any money on keeping this forum clean, at least when they could pass it off to discord and Reddit.
