Looking for Advice on Effective Vehicle Builds for Mid-Tier PvP

Hey fellow Crossout survivors!

I’ve been playing Crossout for a while now and have recently moved into mid-tier PvP (around 5,000-7,000 PS). I’m trying to refine my vehicle build but keep running into some issues, and I’d love some advice from more experienced players.

My Current Setup:

  • Cabin: Photon (I like energy weapons but open to switching)
  • Weapons: Two Spectre-2s and one Aurora (experimenting with synergy)
  • Chassis: Six wheels (balanced for speed and durability)
  • Modules: Chameleon Mk2, Engine Booster, and a Radar Detector

Issues I’m Facing:

  1. Durability – I seem to get destroyed too quickly, even with decent armor placement. What’s the best way to improve survivability without making my vehicle too slow?
  2. Damage Output – My Spectres work well at mid-range, but I struggle against tanky melee builds and shotguns. Should I swap in a different weapon set?
  3. Mobility vs. Armor – I want to keep a balance between speed and tankiness, but I find myself either too sluggish or too fragile. Any suggestions on chassis adjustments?

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Are there any builds you’d recommend for this power score range that are effective in PvP? Any must-have weapons, modules, or movement parts that could make a big difference?

Thanks in advance.

Your problems are everyone problems.

Durability - plows and high durability parts as often as you can. preferable with resistances characteristics,
Which is the most problematic faction ( parts ) for you?
Whatever may be, build your build towards facing that.
PHOTON it’s pretty slow and sluggish for a medium cab, so if you want to keep it, might as well optimize the tankiness aspect of the thing ( IMO )
And change your gameplay ( whatever it may be ) to try to go with the flow and be in the second line, a build like yours can’t face a tank build, specially if the other build it’s heavier than yours and ,often, lighter builds than yours are too fast for you to be able to bully them.
If you are using spectres you are not taking advantage of your cab’s perk.
It says in the “tin”
energy weapons that are mounted on the car deals 30% more damage to heated parts
Spectres aren’t energy weapons… so…
That synergy is yet to complete if you want cab+ weapon + aurora to work

It would be nice if you posted a screenshot of your build.

If you have a issue in a particular section of your build it would be better if you revised that section from the ground up.

??? Need I be flattered or concerned?

Don’t bother with the aurora/mg setup outsider of pve, it’s rarely that effective especially on a slow build. Even pve now it’s not brilliant. I found mixing synthesis or prometheus with aurora is better but not popular for some reason. I personally would take triple synthesis on a quantum over what you have. Stick it on some hovers and go nuts!

If you want to keep the photon switch to twin gravastars and go for short range tankiness, these can be super effective, if you can work a build to have skinner all the better (or kapkan if they ever fix them so they work!).

Photon’s perk isn’t doing much on your setup, but if you swapped the spectres for plasma emitters you’ll do more damage.
The aurora/mg combo works best with miniguns in my experience. Spectres are better for tap firing, which doesn’t work great with aurora.

Another option would be to get a couple more auroras. I’ve seen people do ok with those on a photon, although it’s not that popular.

The most powerful weapon to use with photon are gravastars. Just two on a photon with enough rads/coolers can be very effective at 9kPS.

As far as durability goes, that’s always the tough part. You could try using more pass-through parts (buggy floors, gun mounts, etc) on the interior of your build, and then attach your heavier armour pieces to them. Basically make a roll cage and then cover it.

If you’re not that invested in using Photon, maybe consider a cabin more suited to your spectres, and replace the Aurora with another MG. Lots of options there, depending on your playstyle and tastes.

Personally, I don’t tend to use a cloak on mid-range builds. I usually only use one on close range builds and some long range ones. You can use that extra energy for more cooling, or a radar detector, or a better engine.

If it’s close range builds killing you most often, more armour isn’t going to help much. Mobility will help more. If you never stay still, close range builds are a lot less likely to catch you.

Other strategies to counter close range attacks: radar detectors will help you see them coming better than a normal radar. Oculus or verifier will alert you to cloaked enemies. Kapkans can help guard you.

Edit: just noticed that you didn’t list any coolers/rads in your setup. You definitely need some with those weapons. The rare coolers and rads are cheap to fuse, and are pretty good when fused now. The epic and legendary ones are better of course, but if you don’t have the resources just fuse the rare ones.
Also, what engine are you using?

That’s a joke right

Kapkans don’t do shit!

Kapkans are definitely easier to break free from than in the past, but when I’m playing close range builds they are still one of the things that can screw up my attack and lead me to get killed without accomplishing anything.

They’re not as OP as they used to be, but they definitely still work.

They’re most effective when more than one of them are dropped. If you get grabbed by two or more, you aren’t moving. So if you are only running one, pay attention to your teammates and drop one near where they dropped theirs. I also see a few players running cars with multiple kapkans, and while they might not score high, they can win the match for their team.

If I’m playing flamethrowers, melee, or shotguns and a Kapkan grabs me, even if I break free it has screwed up my approach. A good player can take advantage of that momentary stop. But less skilled players are less able to use those moments.

ya just use what everyone else uses kaps with kings or use what i use i call it the lazy grind 16 boom sticks (no lances) and a cloak

Is your tonnage max? If not, switch to heavier wheels. You can go max speed all the way up to 1kg under mass limit, you just need the tonnage.
