I’ve seen matches where one or two dropped, and only one where a lot of people dropped. That’s crazy. Are you seeing that a lot?!
The only match where I saw a bunch of people drop was just yesterday… All but two of the players on the other team were in the same clan.
Within a minute or so, my team had me, another human, and a bot. . Randos have no chance against a team like that.
We still managed a respectable score… Something like 3500. I mean, that’s not bad considering. It was a city map. I was using pyers and the little chameleon. Staying very low and knowing how to strafe while flying was my only hope. Honestly, they sucked. They apparently only knew how to fire while flying directly at you. That makes them easy prey for pyres.
Still, 4 on 1 odds was hopeless (I think our bot was a drake).
I am gonna toot my own horn here. I say I got a 85% win rate in this game mode no joke. Part of that is because I carry both a radar detector and rd-2 keen(both of them fused). Radar detector helps on the city map and rd-2 keen can help you spot bots to farm on the open maps or if their is bots behind a hill it will appear on radar detector . Not only that it givers you better situational awareness.
I am using 1 caucus, 3 pyres and 1 trombone and my strategy is go after weak opponents/bots or go after the most vulnerable in any given situatuion. I usually avoid the strong players but if that player is in a vulnerable spot ill take a chance. The goal is to inflect has much damage has possible and I find most opponents are weakest in the rear. Here is an example of a situation. Say there is a bot below and a player on the caucus and a pyre guy circling down below me. The bot might seem like the easier target but if i am in a situation where pyre guy is back on i might be able to one shot that player from that angle so ill take that shot then farm the bot after pyre dude is dead while i dodge caucus guys attacks. Once the bot is dead i make a get away to where my teammates are closest where hopefully we can gank caucasus player when he follows me back home. I pay close attention to the radar has that helps me dodge that player while I am farming. That’s just one example of my line of thinking in the game. Also rocket players like myself carry ammo packs that can easily blow up so they tend to die quicker unlike mg players.
So far, this is the fourth or fifth game like this, in total.
I was wondering why i was being hammered so hard and so fast, then in one of my respawns i saw the scores, then the players.
when the clock ran down to 0 there was nothing else to do.
All of these screenshots were taken today, if you noticed there is a player in two of these battles, different battles (fortunately not on my team) that bailed out in two games. (in the last two screenshot as you can see, there wasn’t nothing to lose or win, the outcome remained open until the end)
That still seems like a lot considering I haven’t experienced it at all outside of a match where it made sense people dropped.
I have a similar strategy, but part around 5k PS usually. It’s all pyres most of the time, but they’re on different triggers. I’ll harass their strongest player(s) with a single rocket, then drop the rest on bots. Amazingly effective at limiting the score of their best players while racking up points.
I’ll try to watch how their #1 responds. If it’s poorly, I may have fun relentlessly attacking him for points and to really suppress his score.
Additionally, sending a message 5 seconds before the match starts saying “farm bots harass their #1” occasionally yields a great team with clowny high scores.
It really depends on the map for me. I am not going from one end of the map to the other to chase down one bot but I go to the least guarded place with the weakest players that is nearest to me or if there is a strong player I got no way of avoiding I try and make sure there is a teammate or 2 around that can gank that player with me. Trombones work good with ganks too so your team can inflict more damage has well. A lot of it is situation dependent so you got to make on the fly judgement calls of what the best thing to do is. I say if you are playing in a group using voice chat or something harassing the number one can be a viable strategy other wise I say it is mainly best to just try and score the most points by farming bots and what not with has few deaths has possible. The vip player is only going to respawn anyways so I say best thing to do in general is just go after weakest player/bots and try and score more points than the vip instead of killing the actual vip.
I got all my rockets binned to the one button so I can’t do that.
I actually re-arranged key binds to do this when the copter thing started. After seeing other players absolutely PANIC when a rocket headed their way, I figured it’d be a good way to shut 'em down. Bot farmers aren’t always skilled at anything else.
I use argus module has well so I don’t panic when i hear the incoming missile beeper I know how to dodge them anyways all you got to do is listen to direction it is coming from if you are using headphones. When i encounter someone with argus I got a caucasus on standby to go after them but I just try and find someone easier if I can that is why I got all my rockets binned to 1 button on my ps5 controller.
The hardest players to go after with the pyre are people who have a cloak AND the argus AAAAND know how to fly.
Like you, when I run across a good player, I generally just leave 'em alone in that mode. Chasing them is just a good way to not score points I would’ve otherwise.
It’s an interesting play mode for sure. Much different than the others.
Yea you got to play your build to it’s strengths and players that are good at dodging missiles let alone having argus and chameleon equipped is not the best target to waste your time on.
First I go for the nearest bots and help clean them up, but as soon as I see flying players approaching I switch my focus to them. I usually find humans easier to kill quick with the nest/trombone/harpy combo. I tend to focus on someone until they are dead, to maximize the nest perk. Missiles on separate buttons to mess with cloakers. Argus is my nemesis.
I’m not 100% sure, but it looks like a kill doesn’t count much towards points in the mode. That’s why I started focusing on bots. There is usually more points in a bot on the ground than there is in a copter in the air. usually
Parts destruction seems to do the points. Some bots have lots of small parts and generate a lot of points, but some heavy bots have mostly large high durability parts and don’t generate many points for me.
But if I kill off the humans, they can’t kill our bots.
I spoke to soon about not having that happen… just had a match where we had 2 bots & 6 humans. 3 humans dropped within a minute or so. A 4th dropped a bit later.
Yeah it’s almost like people don’t complain about leavers because they’re snowflakes, but because leaving is douchebaggy.
Still having fun with Crickets. it’s crazy how many people lose in dogfights to crickets. I was expecting to go after bots mostly, but every enemy team has a couple players who just fly in straight line, or decide to start hovering 10m away from your nose, with Caucasus as their frontal armor.
Same… The pyres are very effective, but I like variety. It’s funny to shoot down the same player repeatedly only to see them do nothing in response. They just keep doing exactly as you say.
I also had some fun with parsers if you can believe that… And for the same reason. You just mosey up to one of those dingbats and can 1-shot some of them out of the sky.
