New blueprints tab

Hello!

We are currently working on a new blueprints tab. There are a lot of significant changes planned for this rework. That’s why we would like to invite you to our test server and try out the new interface we have drafted. Your feedback would be very helpful to the development team.

We remind you that all the new features described and shown in this news article are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not be implemented into the game at all. You can familiarize yourself with all the planned changes in detail on the special test server!

New features

We have removed the blueprint slots from the main screen. They have been replaced by a pop-up panel where you can add any blueprint for quick selection in the garage. Thanks to optimisation, the maximum possible number of stored blueprints has been increased to 50 (#FreeTheBlueprints).

The “Blueprints” button now opens a full-fledged tab instead of a side list in the garage. It has filters for simplified blueprints search, an option to add any of your blueprints as a target in the range, and many other features. Be sure to right-click any blueprint in the list on the right to open a submenu with various useful features.

Due to the optimization mentioned above, the process of working with blueprints has changed. The main thing to note is that now when you edit a blueprint in the garage, all changes are IMMEDIATELY saved and overwrite the saved blueprint.

In order not to lose the original blueprint, you can either create a copy of the blueprint in a new window by right-clicking and selecting the appropriate option and edit that copy, or use functions to undo/redo the last change while editing the blueprint by pressing back/forward arrows.

We have also added an option to “lock” blueprints so that you don’t accidentally change them.

The changes are significant, so we would like you to explore the new features yourselves. Be sure to check them out!

After testing the tab, we ask you to leave feedback in the comments to the news, as well as take the in-game survey on the test server. Thank you!

If you can’t see the poll, go to settings-general-privacy-check “enable polls” and click “apply”.

How to get on the test server?

If you have ever participated in testing features on a special server, then just start the Launcher from the folder with the test client and wait for the update to complete.

  • Create a new folder for the game on your hard drive.
  • Download the Launcher from this link. The file name should not contain numbers indicating that the file is a duplicate. Please note that you should launch the file that does not contain any digits (1), (2), etc. in its name. If, when starting the installed launcher, you are logged into the live game servers, you need to delete all downloaded launchers from the download folder and try again.
  • Start the Launcher and install the game into the folder you created (for example, D:\Public test\Crossout).
  • After the installation is complete, start the Launcher and log into the game with your username and password.
  • The progress of your main account will be transferred to the test server (including parts in storage and levels of reputation with factions).
  • After logging into the server, to transfer progress from your account, press the “Esc” key and select “Copy account data”.
  • Please note the schedule of the test server:
    • Friday, November 29, 2024: from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT)
    • Saturday, November 30, 2024: from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT)
    • Sunday, December 1, 2024: from 13:00 to 19:00 (GMT)
  • Any progress you make on the test server will not be transferred to the live game servers (INCLUDING ATTEMPTS TO BUY PACKS).

The public test server is intended only for testing of the upcoming update, and may not accommodate all players without exception. However, absolutely anyone can join the server, as long as there are free spots.

i like the idea…sounds promising… :+1:

…hmmm…testing spots… :worried:

I guess I’ll get to see it tomorrow as it’s taking forever for it to finish patching the test server launcher with not much time left in todays testing time range.

Being able to add them as range targets is pretty cool.

Increasing the max cap of blueprint slots should make the whales happy, I guess. God only knows what they need 50 for, but good for them. I have 13.

If they weren’t so out of touch with their own game, they’d have realized that the autosave feature is a nuisance, not an improvement, before they introduced it. Please, no. This should have never passed inspection.

What this means for me, is that I will have one less functional blueprint slot, and another additional annoying regression (autosave) for the build feature if this goes live (they made the menu narrow last time, causing much more scrolling).

 Stop breaking shit.

Wow! Does that mean that we have to grind out blueprint expansions to get there, or are they going to bump up the base amounts by a lot?

Depends on what modes your playing. If your doing full rosters for CW,CC,UW you’ll have about 9 spots right there. 3 for dailies and a rotor and a leg build brings you up to 14 spots already.

I know I’d like to be able to do some raid builds that are more PS correct for the different difficulties of raids. There’s also some different PS ranges I wouldn’t mind being able to skip around between. I just don’t do it currently as I lack the spots and have to rebuild to do that.

They mentioned there is a lock you can turn on to keep yourself from overwriting a blue print. I don’t see that as being a big deal.

My big question is how much are the garage spots going to cost. They get rather expensive right now. I don’t see any easy to spot button for adding blueprint spots. So it does make me wonder if they are actually free?

Still haven’t gotten the test launcher to move to it’s play state, seems to be stuck on copying files for the last half hour lol…

Seems like you are one of the only people on the forum that actually checks out the test server.
Thank you for your service!

I make a lot of art builds in my free time, trying to make my art abilities better, because I usually build for function instead of pretties (my actual builds for PVP look very… ugly  ) I keep running out of space for my art (after every build, I have to figure out what art/PVP build to get rid of), so this (should) help a bit with my lack of blueprint storage for art (I hope).

I’m sure if you ask @The_Purple_Snit he’ll tell you how unpleasing-to-the-eye my builds are.

(Then again, I usually last longer in PVP than him  )

Anyway, I hope these new blueprint slots help me make more art, and I hope I get more exhibition slots to post it!! :open_mouth:

There are some excluded semantics in their description of that feature that need clarified, perhaps?
One may presume this auto-save feature means said blueprint cannot be modified as long as it’s locked, and if it is unlocked, any modifications to it are immediately saved as the original blueprint.

They suggested leaving a blueprint slot open to act as a back-up to rotate any blue print that you may want to tinker with into. This is very inconvenient, IMO.

It is not time saving, nor does this modification serve the presumed overall purpose of a menu update; improving menu economy (less click and search). It’s a pain in the ass. Not an “update.” It’s creating a problem where there formerly was none.

It deserves at least a closer look, because their descriptions aren’t always perfectly informative, but I suspect this auto-save mechanic is based on the architecture of the new software they are using to re-create menus and everything else towards mobile, and cross-platform solutions. They may not have a good answer for this…who knows?

I’m sure a lot of people will be glad to buy more blueprints, and Targem will be happy to sell them.

They are right to brag about the optimization of this game. I think I mentioned that just the other day, in fact.

I didn’t have any problems with the current system (aside from the fact that extra bp slots are rediculously overpriced).

I already keep one bp slot free to swap builds in-and-out of exhibition, which I use as extra bp storage. I have 26 bp slots filled, 1 empty, and 27 exhib slots filled, all unique builds. To get an additional bp slot costs me 1200+ coins per slot. :unamused:

As Doc would say…more maps, please.

You can have up to 32 slots now, but you still have to acquire the floppy disks to get them. They wanna make the max 50, but we’re not getting any extra slots for free.

I don’t think they said that explicitly, but it’s probably reasonable to assume. I’m just not sure it’s true…and I suppose none off it’s really true until it goes live.

Ya, I’d rather they’d settle on a version of this game, then simply expanded and polished the landscape…more maps. But, if they are going to change the menu (which is a frustrating prospect all by itself), it should be towards simplification and economy. I’m not convinced this is that. The last one wasn’t…unless you were looking at it from your phone, or something?

I agree as the others, that while it’s nice to have more available blueprint slots, real good news would have been that the price of the existing 32 were cut in half so the rest of us might be able to enjoy having a few more of them too.

This is more whale grooming, IMO, a continuing focus on end game players, and ignorance to building a wider player-base, which I would think would result in a better experience for everybody, including the developers. I don’t know why they ignore the lobby.

Three minute queues are getting pretty common where I’m at. This is the signature of poor player retention.

More blueprints is nice though.

Welcome, it just finished updating so as long as I’m up early enough tomorrow I’ll check it out.

It could be they just poorly described it. It seemed to me that the way your describing it is how it will work though.

I tend to try to work like this already unless I’m full up on builds.

The favorites bar at the bottom provided it works the way I think it does i.e. letting you load a build directly from it. To me this would be time saving. I could load in my daily builds down there and not have to screw around scrolling through the builds as much. Without scrolling that gives fairly fast access to 6 builds from what it shows in the picture. Right now you can only quickly access 2 builds.

They also indicate a left and right scroller so I’m assuming you can have more than 6 in the favorites.

I’m kind of wondering what the filters will do in here. I see at the top tabs for saved, faction, packs, favorites. Then I also see a drop down menu box which I’m not sure what it does yet. As well as the standard heli, vehicle, and levi selector that we’re familiar with from the exhibition.

The one thing that I think will be inconvenient to me is that I often jump between the info boxes when making alterations between the build I’m working on and what it’s last saved state was. That I’d probably miss doing. It’s not a huge deal though even if it was useful while tweaking a build.

I’m not sure if they are trying to get the game any more cross platform then they have it now. However I’ve paid zero attention towards their mobile version outside of noticing that it was different from a video or two that I watched.

That’s one of the things I’m going to try to look for to see if they include a way add blueprints or other wise buy them. I couldn’t spot a button for it in the pictures but that doesn’t mean the icon might not have changed. @The_Purple_Snit lol, I know where the button is in the current window I mean in the photos they provided from the test server.

They didn’t mention if you are getting any for free or not. Which is why I was looking through the pictures provided looking for that + icon. I’m rather suspicious of the (#FreeTheBlueprints) tag they tossed in though.

I’m hoping that they have wised up to the issue of some people skipping events just because they don’t have blueprint slots available and are just fixing the issue. I know I mentioned to them that I often skip UW because I don’t have 3 extra slots let a lone enough to deal with PS range rotations.

I’ll hopefully get a better look tomorrow though.

The que times change dramatically across power scores and modes. I hardly ever see 1.5min pass at 9k or higher playing at night or early morning EST. Though I don’t restrict my server selections.

They related this update to “optimization.” That’s why I say that it’s to bring those platforms to a more optimal consensus.

If they are trying to trim the fat, I’d say that’s not a bad idea. I don’t know what the net result will be though. Will it be more efficient for me or them, and what’s the difference?

Remember when we seriously pretended to believe more blueprint slots are a matter of the cost of the 100kb server disk space each?

Now its magically 50. you can fly now and robots and shit and plebs can get uranium. I tell you, the end is nigh!

wait… i edit my blueprints all the time so if i want to slap on a… lets say swarm onto my build and remove my jotuns for a temporary change does that mean itll autosave it to my blueprint slot so ill need to readjust it? if so that is absolutely stupid and that does NOT need to be put in.

Maybe they won’t, but I think that is what that means.

I suppose the menu guy has to do something for a living, right? D&D is nothing but menus and it’s a pretty good game, so I think the menu guy could help this game a lot if they did it right. I don’t think this is right, though.

I’m afraid this is only the beginning.
