New season in Crossout. Part 1

I read this as “you can still shoot yourself in the foot to your heart’s desire”
Thing is, I don’t particularly enjoy shooting myself in the foot for others’ enjoyment.

Ah, but there’s a great deal of joy to be had in destroying someone’s ugly meta that doesn’t look like anything while you’re using something that looks cool… or better yet… silly.

I tend to think “damn that guy was really bad to get caught like that in a hover” and enjoyment isn’t really there, besides the sadistic pleasure of honking a meta sucker who’s burning on the ground. I prefer my gaming experience less filled with negative energy (^%

Yesterday I was playing a game where we were getting rushed by 3 red arrows on the minimap. I pinged, I honked, and in the end I had to literally ram the shit out of an ally that was standing next to me sniping across the map, honking and spamming “GREAT” to get him to pay attention to the fucking game.
Every hover who dies in PvP is that guy. Even hovers don’t fix a complete lack of map and situational awareness.

Then our job is done here

Lol :joy:

Cheers to you sir.

I think many of us read that the same way.

Art builds used to piss me off to no end. (And still do a little, I’m not going to lie)

But these things are out of my control, so now instead of getting bent, I just think of those players are poorly designed bots and mark them as dead on arrival.

You can look at your team and know if your going to have to put in extra work or not to compensate.

I think of it as a challenge or mission -

My Daily Mission - Survive and Win PvP matches “Solo” with the worst team mates possible.

Just to clarify… I only bring silly builds into Patrol. I will bring an art build into PVP, but only if it’s a GOOD art build. If I can’t get an occasional PVP with it, it’s relegated to Patrol or raids. I’m not here to rain on anyone’s parade.

I feel like in mid PS (which I define as 8-10kPS), it’s currently harder to predict performance from the look of a build.
Yes, the horseshoe DPS hovers are strong, but a lot of the people running them at that PS are often not as skilled as the people driving similar builds in high PS. And at that PS, four wheel builds aren’t at as much of a disadvantage.
All of the epic wheels are durable enough to get away with two ST and two non-ST at that PS, which makes for the fastest vehicles. If you’re good at driving those types of cars, you can really take advantage of the speed. And you can still get a decent amount of armour on that type of build, in a relatively small footprint.

This is fair. I don’t really play that PS.

Side note: This is also one of my arguments for 14k+ being the best bracket - match making stops trying to split PSs at this point.

So because of this large PS swings are common. If your playing at 14k+ normally you have to have your :poop: together… or your going to have a really rough time.

I have always felt like ultra high PS skill level greatly increases when playing random PvP.

I’m willing to bet most players hit that level with un-fused builds with mismatched weapons & get very discouraged.

It’s a wake-up call… no matter how good you are, taking a mismatched unfused POS tipping the scales at 14k against a veteran with a fully fused meta is going to be U G L Y.

That threshold probably get reached a lot sooner. I remember people complaining about rare and epic upgrades not to many years ago having too much impact.

I enjoy down to about 8k. Under 8k games are too fast to “enjoy”, it’s more kamikaze rush and see who wins. 8-12 is more of a mid paced game, with quite a bit more strategy/sparring with above 12k being a fairly slow paced game… until it isn’t.

The real sweet spot for me is about 10-11k. Most all the weapons are played and there is still variety in builds.

16k+ is fun when my builds naturally turn out there. But I’m bored with the same 3 hover builds (basically) that I have played since my first crickets.

I like that the game has variety and niche’s like this.

Agreed 100% - it’s always good to give people options.

There is not right or wrong answer to what PS is best to play at. This is a personal preference that most games don’t give you the choice to make.

Yeah, I get that. On the bright side, if you wanna rack up MVPs, it’s easy to do down there with a good long range build & a very tiny amount of patience.

Edit… plus, too, and also… those light builds are good for wiping out challenged really fast if you need to.
Example…
All you have to do is hit - not even destroy 15 baddies.

This is the lightly molested “Hold My Bear” build @145971359 Charlie posted a while back. I swap out whatever weapons I need at the moment.

Those are triple storms. It’s super easy to sit back & snipe a round or two into every player at that level because most players just run around like lunatics. I’ve knocked out this challenge multiple times in only two matches.

Agreed 100%. If I could get MM to somehow magically let me sit around for matches where we’re all in that bracket, the game would truly be amazing.

Alas, my 10k builds are never in matches with other 10k players. Nearly 100% of the time, it’s me at the bottom fighting against guys who top out at 17k. That’s a huge insurmountable difference in PS. Guys with builds this heavy typically know what they’re doing.

OTOH, if I’m in a 5K build & matched up against 11ks, a lot of those duded don’t have a clue, and I’ll still do well.

I googled OTOH, I’m now caught up.

That is all.

This is why I hate all the match maker threads.

Don’t really mind different PS, this said, the mm could do two things better (and it actually did one of those earlier, wtf Targem?):

1 Mirror bots. Some bots are trash, others are beasts.
2 balance the teams’ power scores. I’m okay with being 11k in a 14k game, I’m not okay with being in a 11k team against a 14k team :stuck_out_tongue:

That one is easily balanced by longer queue time.

That’s quite a coincidence when everybody described this game as post apocalyptic.
Despite the lore this game is loosely based on Ex Machina and it precedes Ex Machina which has scifi energy weapons and aircraft, except in that game its all done way better. The Scifi stuff is clearly known as Oracle/Njeri in origin and its not excessively spammed. Flight is limited to NPC’s from non-playable factions. The Oracle has a VTOL and the Njeri have antigravity craft and a mothership.
Instead in Crossout we have these ridiculous hovers that use 4-8 turbine engines to hover 2 meters above sand using space age weapons against vehicles using tech from WW2 up to modern day in maps where everybody is living in scrap shanties in ruins of seaports and industrial buildings after the oceans and rivers evaporated. There is a complete & total contradiction here.
