Remember the thread where you and I were the only ones saying astreus was good and everyone said it sucks. I think the devs read and saw 2 people in all of Xo thought they were still good and nerfed them. I too have another set of fused weapons gathering dust.
On a hadron for it’s buff, with a flywheel and an Adaptor to set off the Hadron it fires basically like an autogun, very fast.
totally different weapon with that setup.
3 games, 3 mvps.
Thank you.
Now I got to testing it out in the 9800-11000 PS range, which I feel like is the about good ps range for these type of high energy singular guns, and I stand by what I said, I don’t think it sucks, I was positively surprised.
It’s not a supermeta click button to instantly win the game kind of a weapon, and requires more usage than just holding a button down while somewhat hovering the mouse over an enemy build, or just driving face first into an enemy while holding the fire button. But it’s not bad. It does suffer from the same limitations that all long range weapons seem to suffer from that leaves them feeling extremely mediocre in the large scale of things though.
But as a ranged weapon among the ranged weapons I like it, it’s rather nice. You aren’t going to brawl with it once someone drives right into your face, but then again that’s all ranged weapons. You aren’t going to be guaranteed grand success just for using this specific gun, but then again that’s most guns excluding the few easy cheesy metaguns where you automatically get to the 1000+ points without doing much anything.
I’d compare it to the Median, it’s like a triple median build in a single package for slightly higher ps than a triple median build can go for
I find it works pretty good with a Ghost cabin
There’s your opinion after battle usage, I still don’t agree with the though of it plain out sucking
I’ve been trying thyrsus for about ten days now and I have to say it’s been pretty fun so far. But I would like it if it held better on the body (I know it has better durability than, for example, the scorpion, which is very difficult to separate from the body). Like this, I can easily be shot down by a trio of Fidgets. I would also like a different charging method. For the above reason, it is unsuitable for close combat and therefore charging between enemies is not the best. What also doesn’t quite cross my mind is that in one game I’ll blow up a small tank for one hit, while in another game I’ll use up eight charged bullets for the same one. Overall, I think this weapon doesn’t give as much energy as it uses, but it’s still a lot of fun.
I still haven’t tried mine yet. It looks pretty fun and I love the sound that it makes when it shoots.
When I unlocked the thyrus from the battlepass last night I threw the thyrus on my levi and after I woke up this is what happened, definitely a keeper for my leviathan at least. The build I made for regular pvp/pve got an adapater on it to help me guide and hit more shots because I find the thyrus really hard to use.
its still a cool LOOKING weapon to me. but looks arent everything.
doesnt the avalanche hit harder per second? i know the avalanche has the potential for HUGE damage as well as armor piercing and a massive round with a large explosion but i think the avalanche is more dps then that thyrsus.
straight facts. honestly this weapon should not be 11 energy. if anything i think 5 or 6 energy would be more suited to it. having 2 of them would be better, but it still wouldnt do much for the damage. i just wish it didnt fire in bursts and instead fired like the punisher, only firing a burst when a charge is accumulated.
i dont have one… YET. i usually keep every weapon i get from the battlepasses incase i want to change things up and use them in a raid or something just for fun. and yeah i agree with you, the weapon LOOKS cool! but i still think the weapon should be at least 5 or 6 energy to have multiples of them. is the model bigger then the cyclone / mammoth?
keep them. they might buff the weapons again in the future. they buff and nerf things all the time so whos to say they wont buff them again?
i think the only thing the thyrsus is useful for is easy raids
5-6 energy would horribly break it (think of the PS decrease associated with it, too), but it’s bad enough to be dropped to 9 energy like Yongwang for sure
But there’s only so much devs can do with snipey weapons without concurrencing scorps. Plus it’s getting crowded with shit weapons there, Astraeus, Assembler, Thyrsus, Kaiju…
Hey! I love my assemblers!
I mean, they’re pretty trash, but I love em.
I just wish they made the tap-fire not suck
Same with Kaiju tbh, what’s the point of variable charge weapons if not charging them at 100% is not an option?
What? You don’t like completely random aiming? Snob!
The thing that bugs me about the Thyrus is you can’t choose when to use the charges. That bothers me more then a lot of the other issues I’ve seen brought up about it.
how? they are already garbage as is xD
maybe 7 energy then?
I finally paid for the pass, got the Thyrsus, mounted it, laughed a bit, removed it & put it in mothballs.
This gun is too strong to have 2. But for sacrificing all modules, id be fine with 8 energy. But semiauto 560 damage would make light work out of most every gun.
In its current state, i dont think this thing can hang at the top PS too well.
The perk of the weapons works counter intuitively with the purpose of it.
For the ones that didnt understand that, the weapon works optimaly when charged, and to recharge it you need a carcass, which means you either have to stand close to the idiot that pushed alone and died close to your team, OR push and find carcasses along the way while being lucky enough that the carcasses are close enough to the combat so you are not irrelevant while you charge.
In most games the defining part of the combat lasts 30 secs to 1 min, imagine if you spend 20% of that recharging innactive.
And while you may get your lucky games that all of the above happens in your favor, most of them wont be like that. And what defines a good weapon is consistency in performance.
I am going to try the gun but i expect nothing other than dissapointment, while hoping i am pleasantly surprised.
Nuff said.
Not counter to that, it wants you to make a choice, keep your manoeuvres low damage or risk being attacked to keep your damage high
Go tandem with a shotty/furedog and let them push. Theyll get a kill or two, youll keep them clean from other dogs and one way or another youll have a corspe around after the first fight. Optimally with a mostly intact firedog teammate with you.
Also, as mentioned, pair this gun with an adapter on a hadron and it becomes a semi auto 65 damage per bullet (260 with a charge) lead machine.
man does crossout have a stand up bar in the wastelands cause you would be amazing at it!
in all seriousness though i find the gun underwhelming and weak. idk maybe i might try different things with it but really it doesnt work for me. if anything i can use it in easy raids lol.
also dont forget that the gun reloads to and doesnt constantly fire. it only fires in bursts and not like a machine gun. 1 misfire and the guns as good as stripped. especially from my arbiters. im pretty sure 4 arbiters or 3 arbiters and an aurora would make quick work of stripping that weapon.
