It’s not so much the controls but mainly the way in which the whole build is now automatically stabilised into a perfect forward facing position, taking all the skill out of keeping the build straight enough on target to take advantage of such firing angles. Factors like this greatly impact the effectiveness of omnidirectional builds in battle and it seems to have been severely overlooked when implementing this change.
It’s not that it’s simply easier, the mouse aiming automatically stabilises the build into a perfectly forward position - creating a huge unforeseen advantage
I’m sure no one would have an issue with controls being solely easier to use, that’s always a plus in games - I remember playing rocket league on an xbox controller and X used to be the air roll button by default, later changed to LT so you can easily press all the buttons A, B, LS and LT (and sometimes LB) at the same time, these things are welcomed.
I’m not sure they are 100% unforeseen.
The fact is - The old version of movement was suppose to be removed from the game and this new system was going to replace it. The dev team has also mentioned that they are still thinking about which version will be in game.
It is the players that pushed the dev team to keep both.
If they had their way, then the new controls would be the only controls in game.
So for the few of us that decide to stay with the old controls have given ourselves a disadvantage on purpose because we also have the option to change controls. (Even though I personally still think the old controls are better)
I would say that in the future their is a good chance the old controls will be removed completely.
from the current updates that are being pushed out it seems like crossout is getting transformed into a mobile game for pcs. that is with the contect, interface design, and especially the controls that feel like they came directly from a mobile game. it is not about “us old players staying with the old controls purposely giving ourselves a disadvantage”, its about giving anyone and everyone the advantage to bunker weapons into the build, which would normally allow a more skilled player to use a more skillful build, harder to use but more durable, but now any player can just download a build with annoyingly hard to hit weapons, and take 0 skill to be able to use it, with the vehicle perfectly snapping to wherever youre aiming
I’m pretty sure it was, the game now acts almost as if you have an aim-lock for the entire build… I’m sure nothing like this would have been foreseen before this change was implemented, after all the directional movement hasn’t been altered before in all these years.
Players want it because of old habits, naturally. I wouldn’t say its a disadvantage, depending on your weapons and even platform it may even be better suited the the old controls - I can see it being easier on a controller to be able to look around your build with the old controls, while on mouse and keyboard it’s much easier and faster to lock your aim and look around via mouse aim; there are enough factors to take into account but the reality is that the builds that benefit from the new control scheme do gain quite a hefty advantage.
They may take aspects from mobile games but they have Crossout Mobile already so turning Crossout into a mobile version I think would be a mistake; why split those markets.
The new UI has grown on me to the point that I don’t really care much anymore, it’s clean and simple even if it doesn’t suit the gritty aesthetic of the game itself - or how gritty it used to look and feel compared to now.
The new aiming system only gives its advantages to 3 movement parts, hovers, onmis and legs. I don’t think it would have been a problem if hovers weren’t already so prolific and controversial in the first place, coupled with the other ‘soft’ buffs they received at the same time; just not great foresight in terms of balancing.
I didn’t get mad at you for saying drones are easy. Nope. Didn’t happen.
You overestimate my ability to comprehend what some people post!
I think the new controls are crap for people who struggle to blink and breathe at the same time, and lamers who’d push their mom down stairs to get a microscopic ingame advantage.
I also don’t see the link with p2w (you still need those fused hovers and Punishers lmao), or care enough about this dumpsterfire of a game to voice my opinion… I’m just as confused at OP’s point regarding p2w than you are.
The old controls are not a disadvantage to me. I am missing part of my right hand. I spent immense effort to learn to use controls. Control changes should always be opt in not forced.
Fastest way to get me to QQ is force control changes on me.
Its just normal first person shooter controls man. Like calm tf down…oh no controls people have been famiar with for decades! Oh noes easy modes! Dont be so backwoods. Old xout controls arent great.
Ps youll save money on buying new controlers if you use them too. But ok…u keep playing your controller breaking controls set up.
The fact that you compare it to ‘normal first person shooters’ already rules out your opinion, the only one breaking their controller is you it seems, maybe get those hands checked out… stop gripping it so hard
If it effects Augers (?), 4
True I forgot about them lol
What a predictable response. I was hopeing you wouldnt be so short sighted. Eeeeeveryones controller gets messed up by crossout. Everyones. Your either newer to crossout of full of crap.
The joysticks have buttons sure. But they werent designed to be used how xout old controls uses them. Like…it doesnt matter how gently you push down.
The game isn’t made primarily for console though…
Thats why those controls were added though. And its fairly easy to have quick hover turning on old controlls too. Your just complaing that new controls arent tedius basically. Get over it. Get gud.
I really think the core issue with both hovers and the controls is that hovers rotate the rig so much dramatically faster than every other movement part in the game.
Every thread that gets started on either one of these bounces around that issue. Honestly, I would think people would get bored of talking about it. But to each their own.
When there’s a problem that’s never fixed, people are going to keep bringing it up
the ui just looks so bland and boring to me, like from a free futuristic space shooter game. i wouldnt say it fits this game since its supposed to be like a post apocalyptic world in the desert, building cars and weapons from scrap and trash, the previous ui looked better, more original and also actually matched the theme of the game. turning crossout into a mobile game is fine, but it might have been a mistake cuz clearly the developers now really want to make the pc version into a mobile game, with all the recent updates. and the aiming system as i said, it just practically gives any unskilled player the ability to have unstrippable weapons on a tanky build, and yeah considering players were already complaining about higher level players having op hovers in lower ps, this will now be an even bigger issue
the old controls were not “tedious”, the new ones are just skillless and only inflate the overpowered hover issue
But it is and has been shifting that way for years.
The dev team has stated before that the largest market share for XO is PlayStation and Xbox combined.
Sure you are correct that PC has more players in a single platform, but with a money grubbing company like this if you don’t think they are going to push console super hard then your wrong.
Money will always win.
