as much as id like a mastodon to complete the mastodon set i dont think it would be good for me as i dont really have a build that can use them effectively. ive always wanted 2 rippers because i like the gun and how it plays. that and i feel i could make an incredibly powerful build out of it and i have a really nasty set up that id want to try out.
thing is… i always keep forgetting how big these dang things are! i always think they are smaller then what they are lol.
i was thinking of getting a ripper first then a mastodon later on when i save enough coins again 10 years from now… ok i joke but not really. getting a relic weapon takes a very long time. i think im only going to get a few more before i call it quits on the whole relic thing.
the guns i want:
1x ripper
1x mastodon
1x typhoon (possibly)
x2 helicons (maybe because these things are brokenly op and i might get tired of them pretty quickly)
1x flash (compliments a melee build so why not?)
2x scorpions
3x punisher
1x devourer (possibly. i mean its just to complete the first one i got and have a set so nothing to weird there)
so all in all 10 relics i want. perhaps 9 after i get the one im getting… but yeah i highly doubt ill get all these in a meaningful time… thing… but yeah lol.
yeah i understand that and i agree. for me though its just about having fun and if i have the coins then i do want to get one of my favourite weapons. im not going to do this all that often, i mean the last time i got a relic was… uhh… i forget how long ago lol…
this i think would be a nice change of pace where you can bring relics only into raids and whatnot to get better rewards, even other pve modes for increased rewards.
i tried using the devourer i have in pve and it did really poorly. ever since they nerfed it it just doesnt have the damage needed to get past certain things. i ran it with 2 arbiters and it did so poorly. so yeah i dont think it would be ideal to get a devourer even though they are quite a bit cheaper… though i will keep it in mind as i would like another to complete the set though i would like another ripper to.
I’ve never used a devourer, but it seems to me like people use them differently than the other miniguns.
They remind me more of how lucifer works, where it’s better to wait until you can unload a devastating full volley at a target, rather than laying down a lot of suppression fire.
A Flash might be fun, but do you play melee much? Although if you combined it with a couple Sparks, you might be able to make an effective PVE car without resorting to melee.
I could see a Flash working with a couple Skadi too.
Ill chime in! I say get either ripper or devourer!. Devourer is the cheapest relic on pc and ripper works well at low ps. I don’t necessarily like devourer that much(i only bought them because they were cheap and I am waiting for the price to go up to make a profit) but I do use them from time to time and do reasonably well with them(unlike my breakers that has a mountain of dust piling on top lol)
Now rippers are my second fave relic after porcupines and you can fit 2 on the jackie module and seeming it is only 5 energy each then you can also combine it with hadron/king plus the jackie for an absolute potent killing machine and you don’t even need odin to make that happen so you don’t have to worry about ps bloat where you be waiting 5-10 minutes to find a game. It takes skill and time to learn but it also a very fun rewarding weapon. Soo my pick would be ripper or devourer but mainly because the devourer is cheap and can be rewarding as well.
Sidenote: Jorms use to be fun as well until devs butchered them but I still like them way better than breakers.
Sidenote2: It will be much easier to make your coin back from the cheaper relics. Devourer ain’t getting no cheaper so if you don’t like them then you can always sell them later and maybe even make a profit while weapons like mastodon/ripper are probably at the their respective price ceiling and may net you a loss.
Besides porcupines and rippers I am not keen on the rest of the relics but that is just my personal taste. I got a build with the flash plus skadis which is very fun but besides that I find the rest of them all very boring. I finds myself just playing the same handful of builds over and over. I got a inventory value of over 1 000 000 coin if you include battlepass stuff plus upgraded legendaries and 95% of it is just sitting there doing absolutely nothing. Why I laid off the the game and moved away from the forum the past 7 months because I got nothing left to grind and working for just that, nothing.
well there is going to be a new relic cooming out to but… knowing how new relics are i will NOT be able to afford one thats brand new. its going to be most likely around 70k when it first comes out and depending what it is it might stay that high for a long while.
and yeah i love porcs to, the thing is i was thinking, if the next BP doesnt have what i want i can sell off all the mini battlepass stuff i have and just buy a devourer to since i have roughly around 20 or 25k worth of junk sitting there rotting. i sold a small portion of it as is and i also sold all my engraved casings for a bit over 2k each per 1000 casings. made a hell of a profit off them. i was contemplating keeping them but they are just collecting dust and this was a good opportunity to chuck them out and get some coin for them. idk what the devs are planning on doing with them but honestly i waited long enough.
i do see rippers drop in price from time to time so ill wait for a good opportunity and then try to buy one for a cheaper price. im in no rush though.

I wouldn’t count on rippers drop in price. Apparently the reason why rippers are so pricey is because they are a very niche relic so not many players craft them so there are not many floating around. I can see mastodon dropping in price but not rippers because there’s more mastodons floating around then there are rippers but that will only happen if it gets nerfed. If rippers get nerfed the price will probably drop but not has much as say if the mastodon got nerfed.
mastodons are like 43k while rippers are at around 41k on ps5. scorpions are around where mastodons are and typhoons are roughly 44k. devourer went up slightly so ill wait till it drops a little. they usually sit around… maybe 27k or so.
I like to play it safe with my relic purchases. I like to buy the really cheap relics and wait for a buff. For instance i bought a flash on pc for 20k and now that same flash is worth 36K on pc. Same happened with the firebugs. I bought 2 firebugs for 20k and sold them for 30k each. I bought 2 of my jorms for 20k each as well and now they sell for 29k. The only exception I made was with the rippers because they were always expensive so i kind of had no other choice.
Soo if 27k is close to the bottom then don’t worry about it. Pick a price to what is close to the bottom end of the relic price range of what ever platform you play on then you would be a fool to lose coin on it. On pc the bottom end of the price range for a relic is 20 to 21k. That is the price where it pretty much can’t get no lower and that is what i buy most of my relics for and just stake it out afterwards waiting for the price to go up.
I personally want Punishers but if i were you +1 devo. Ripper is great kinda so up to you.
Games very p2w tho if we want relics. I’ll get an odin F2P but i don’t know if I’ll ever be able to save 600 uranium lol. Maybe in Years if i’m lucky
I wouldn’t get too sucked into this game at this point. This game is not really meant for new players even tho those are the ones that pay the devs bills. I mean i got nearly 10 000 hours invested and I only got the inventory that I got by grinding the market every single day for years so I got a kind of sunk time fallacy thing going with me but for anyone new to the game I would definitely advise against relics and only play this game very casually. Find a few legendaries that you like and stick with it. Truth be told most relics suck actually.
For example I does way better with reapers than devourers and I find reapers way more fun has well so relics ain’t really has op has you may think and a lot of them actually are massively outclassed by loads of legendary weapons and epics even.
