So I’m trying out Lucifers and Dusk in various settings, and just run into the constant problem of the builds not being that good because I can’t afford an Odin, Fin Whale or a Jackie.
The combination of Lucifers and Daze on a Dusk is very good, but your builds are left, even with all fused parts making the builds even possible in the first place due to mass limits and so on, less than desired levels of optimized, UNLESS you have an Odin or Fin Whale or Jackie and so on.
And I run into this problem a lot on all guns and builds. Especially on builds that are trying to use parts that struggle a lot in general (Like Lucifers, Dusk cabin in general, insert lots of plain bad weapons and cabins that should work in theory but the other option, like Steppe in the case of missiles, just works way better) and it just becomes more and more blatant on how much the game is trying to force you to have this must-have part that instantly fixes all the shortcoming of a build. Like my 4 Vultures build even, it could be an actual menace, and is with people who can afford an odin and use a better reload booster on it. But without it, it’s stuck below mediocrity in all around performance, yet at the same time pretty much being in the exact same PS bracket as the build on a player financially stable enough to feed by the looks of how the game is handled, the crippling drug addictions of everyone involved in running and managing this game
It’s getting really old to run into these invisible walls when it comes to builds

With rare exception, I don’t really worry about the mixing & matching of cabins, modules, and weaponry. If it looks respectable and performs decently, I don’t go nuts with it. The only exception is with the incinerators; I always use the Blight cabin because the green fire is cool!
As long as the cabin is going at the speed I want, and has enough energy for what I’m using, and is in the ps bracket I need it to be, I’m good with it. And no, I have no interest in chasing “meta”. I’m here to have fun!

Ask devs too put in a donate feature in the game. Ill gladly donate to anyone in need of a few coins, Ill call it Noblers crossout charity foundation
That is exactly the problem with having/not having specific parts like Odin for example, some builds just can’t be had any fun with unless you have very specific parts, because it has to leave out a vital component just to be able to move, which leads to no fun due to things like Lucifers with no reload boosters taking forever to reload to do anything in a battle
It’s not like oh no this build with Apollo instead of Odin isn’t going at max speed, but more it can’t even move due to mass and power drain unless you have that 1 extra energy for a better engine (also a very specific one so the build can even function to begin with), as a simplified example
And then there’s things like the jackie/fin whale combo that is pretty much needed for any gun to compete with the more meta guns, which also keeps said guns from usually getting any buff because if someone wants to use this specific gun, just use these must-use parts with them.
I remember people giving me crap for years because I used the Catalina… but I used it purely for looks and as soon as the Kami let me hit 130kmh instead of 120kmh I jumped on it weeks before the update even happened. Now the excuse is of course another part of my build instead… the goalposts always get moved by the haters

If you can’t make a good build without Odin, I think the problem is your approach.
You shouldn’t need Odin unless you are trying to play at the max PS range.

The odin is more of a glorified example for turning struggling but functioning builds into free victories compared to any configuration of the build running with 1 less energy.
I feel like too many guns in general are only good as seal club trash or need at least a jackie + fin whale or 1 more energy to run a better module than the one you’re using to even think of competing with the more functional weapons. (Like all the loving the unloved style videos I see on youtube, the only reason those builds are doing anything is because the odin+jackie+fin whale combo or any flavor of these kinds of parts, fixing the guns because the devs can’t be bothered to buff them for everyone)
Like the Omamori problem at one point before it got some nerfs, when Omamori was a must-have, victories were pretty much decided on if you had an Omamori or not. Jackie and Fin Whale got some nerfs a well and thankfully are not as definite must-have as originally, hence the Odin is a good example because they can’t really nerf the only reason it exists (1 more energy than any other generator)
Like the Lucifers and Dusk, lower ps stock 4 myriad leg Lucifer+Dusk barebones build can be super effective, but that’s not fun. If I want to play 12k+ ps Lucifers on a Dusk on a semi-art build that looks like an actual car, I am going to need to buff the Lucifers to infinity and beyond. And even then for dealing any real damage and giving the guns at least some survivability is going to need jackie+fin whale, and without them they are going to be stuck in painfully mediocre at best while you have that constant nagging awareness that if you had those parts, these guns could have survived that, or if you had those parts, these guns could have killed that, costing overall enjoyment and making you move on to some token this ps build you have, once again feeling that fun-draining feeling of “This build does not work, but it could work but only if I had X part(s) that are mostly unobtainable”
With this and your other examples, you are raising your PS a lot, so I really don’t think it means free victories.
These days in Crossout, durability actually seems to matter. Load up on fancy modules, and you have to either sacrifice durability or compete at the highest level against people who have fused everything.
You only “need” the high end modules to compete at the high end. Just play at a lower PS if you don’t have the gear. This has been the case forever.
People need to get over their FOMO about being at the top of the PS ladder. It’s really not better up there.

I have the opposite problem. Even with 3 Epic Grenadiers, two Genesis, a Thor or an Appolo 4, a Cheetah, a Maxwell, a Chameleon Mark 2, 4 Epic Wheels, a car jack, and a radio I can barely crack 10,000 PS for BFU. Now my vehicle is optimized to its maximum. But I have climbed into PS territory where my allies and enemies may be 14,000- 15,000 PS, making me terribly useless at 10,000 PS sometimes.
Now, lower down to the Bootstrap or lower generator, or no generator at all. Downgrade the wheels, the detector, the cloak, eliminate the radio and car jack, with 23 Energy I might eliminate the cloak or detector and add a common booster, and now my lower PS makes my vehicle more effective even though my vehicle is less optimized, because the MM is tighter and my enemies are weaker.
So, upgrading to all those components you need to be optimized, you have now pushed your vehicle into higher PS and thus you become less effective.
Try to create a bare bones vehicle with your chosen weapon and get better MM and fight some weaklings.
Maybe your build is ineffective because you have exceeded the optimum power score, maybe.
Stop adding things and start trimming the fat.

It’s boring as hell… I like my 13k booster truck but on PC it sometimes grabs high PS lobbies like 18k or so and they’re the most boring, cowardly bunch of trash players you’ve ever seen.

lol, I might not word it the same way, but I know what you mean.
Once you get above 15kPS, everyone plays very cautiously, to the point where I find it boring. So many matches where both teams are camping at their base, waiting for the other to make a move. I’m actually relieved when some dogs enter into the mix and try to rush, just to break up the monotony.
Once in a while I like to make the biggest build I can, because driving a building is so different from driving a fast car like I usually do. I’ve managed to break the 10k durability barrier now, which is a completely different playstyle than my usual.
But I always go back down to the 9kPS range eventually, with my little 1200 durability cars.

its true but you shouldnt need $400 parts as an entry point
Yes, yes you should, or years of grinding, your choice.
How would that be fair to the whales?
For you to get for cheap what they spent thousands on?
Im F2P and I’ve lost big on the market. Bought high for everything to go down, except the p2w bs. Btw that was buying as cheap as I can
Everyone loses in the game except for the whales who btw wouldn’t be losing anyways
exactly, they should make relics more expensive
except for never spending anything on this game, the only way to not lose is to use your irl job to buy all items. but grinding anything ingame is a waste of time
If the rich whales throw money at the game I don’t see them stopping lol.
Or especially quitting.
Pay forever type of game. Supposedly Free to play.
So yeah Everyone Loses except for the Whales. They deserve a loss for once . especially if they want the game more popular not less players.
why are you using one of the most nerfed drones in the entire game?
