If you have 500 ping and packet loss i am afraid a south america server wont help

I have 2 friends who play from Argentina, and they have miserable response. If no one uses the Australian server, they should move it to SA.

I play from Argentina with 50 MB. My best ping is 166ms and the worst is 224 as long as it is maintained up to that limit the game worked perfectly

There are no plans to add a South American server, according to an official reply to such questions. It was accompanied by an explanation that SA having to play on the NA server results in shorter wait times - which obviously isn’t any consolation. I don’t remember where exactly this information was posted, may have been a Q&A in the news section, or a dev stream. But this is the official position of Gaijin, the owner of the servers, which I seem to recall was passed on to us by the devs. A few months ago, there was also a news post about adding a Brazilian language version, but that’s it.

I understand that Brazilian players normally have a ping around 300 ms.

BTW, Crossout is hosted on backup servers for War Thunder, so there can be issues even in Europe. And we got proof of that when WT was DDoSed in September 2021. I was in a battle, and happened to record the moment the server I was on started to lag badly. Bad lag continued for around a week. We got something like 3 days of premium as compensation. Which was funny, because we got it after the first 3 days, or on the 3rd day - Gaijin’s way of avoiding giving us more compensation for the next laggy days.

I would advise against playing a laggy game that’s also unbalanced (in part due to negligence, in part by design - to keep certain whales happy). It’s as if Gaijin didn’t want you to play Crossout, and you’re not really missing out. This from a veteran playing for 7+ years, and a Tier 1 winner in the two latest contest marathons.

If you go to crossoutdb.com and check how the price of the “Storage expansion” changed between the 12th and 13th of October, 2023, you’ll notice a jump from around 120 coins to around 200 coins, at which level that price has been oscillating since. In the past, I used to be able to buy that item for as low as 93 coins. New players were getting it from the battle passes they were buying, and selling it so cheap to get some quick coin. Perhaps there aren’t as many new players these days to keep that price so low, or they’re not buying battle passes. Or they’re not as eager to sell it - but I doubt that. To me, it’s a sign of a reduced influx of new players.

The devs may have started taking measures to keep them logging in by making the game more attractive or less demanding in some ways since August 2021. There was a series of brawls, followed by the scopes no longer costing energy later that year. Or being able to instantly change factions since the summer of 2022. There have been more changes and events like that. And this year, entire series of brawls, one after another, with new chests randomly awarding decor that we used to have to grind hard for (e.g., the Trophy stand, or the paints Black gold and Lemon smoke).

Even if you wanted to stay, at 70K XP a day, it takes 2 years and 9 months to unlock all faction parts. So you could be deceiving yourself for that long that you have a reason to play Crossout. And after completing that goal, you might realize you don’t enjoy playing this sad, laggy affair so much, after all.

So apparently Gaijin doesn’t want you here - how do you fight that?

There was a big spender that switched from the XBox version to the PC in the second half of 2021. Spending big money in dollars, American. Gifted at least 10 basic BPs and a few packs on the PC. That player was bullied out of the game by two popular general chat patrons, after an attempted cybertheft of nearly $1000 from that big spender by one of them (7 purchases, all reverted with the bank, so ultimately no money lost). She asked one chat moderator she was friendly with for help via Discord, and that chat moderator immediately PMed the main suspect, instead of launching an investigation (because they’re all in the cool club - the moderators, admins and trolls). A few minutes later, the suspect, together with another popular chat user, started saying all kinds of nasty stuff about the person they had been very friendly towards for a few months, and whose behavior was flawless the whole time (plus the gifted BPs and packs). The victim reinstalled Windows, changed the password(s), and renamed. But that other popular player leaked her new nick a few minutes later, in the general chat. So she renamed again, and her second new nick was likewise leaked minutes later. When confronted, that player said they were monitoring the cybertheft victim on the forum - it was the old forum, one could follow someone, and, I guess, see when they renamed their account. Weird how the two of them organized persecution of one of the nicest people I’ve met in Crossout, and who was friendly towards everyone, talkative, joked around with people (but not too much, in a refreshing kind of way). Of course the victim filed a formal report, but never got a reply. Next, for two weeks, I was helping her monitor the chat, taking shifts to cover 24 hours a day, to see if the two culprits would say something incriminating. For up to 16 hours a day (even longer during the first 3 days), she would stay logged into Crossout, not doing battles or using the chat, just watching. People’s behavior doesn’t change 180 degrees for no reason. And that’s a smart person. And, according to what she said in the general chat on at least two occasions, she’d spent $7000 on Crossout. People like that don’t simply waste their time reading the stupidity pouring out of Crossout’s general chat, with nothing to gain. She didn’t ask me any personal questions, so if she was trolling me for those two weeks, it was very inefficient. The second of the suspects also said repeatedly in the general chat that the BPs and packs were charged back. I was able to track down and talk to a few of the recipients, including a close friend of the first suspect, and they all confirmed the gifted BPs and packs they received form the cybertheft victim wren’t charged back. So she was just a normal, upstanding person trying to brighten someone’s day. According to her, the gift BPs were intended to give new players a leg up - which the first suspect took notice of and started suggesting his friends as recipients, and they weren’t new to Crossout at all. I mean, who makes the extra effort to bum a $9.99 BP from someone? He succeeded in at least one case (the close friend).
After I brought up this scandal in the general chat at least six times, the main culprit’s account seems to have been suspended permamently almost 19 months later, and the other one seemed to have been suspended temporarily, for a month or two. At any rate, they no longer play Crossout. As for the moderator that let them know the victim asked him for help - he’s doing fine, even got a promo account. To my knowledge, there has been no reaction to the support ticket filed by the victim thrugh the support form at crossout.net. As if it disappeared.
So this is Gaijin. It’s a very sad incident, but also a very dumb way to get rid of someone who was spending big money. For example, she bought a deluxe battle pass in the Holy Motors season, and a number of extra levels. She did that to make coins by crafting and selling the Master cabin. But each time she put it up for sale, it was removed from the market by some admin (at least the first 3 times, I guess it must’ve sold some weeks later, when crafting the cabin was unlocked for everyone). Which is another instance of mistreatment by Gaijin employees. Also, why let people buy the deluxe BP and extra levels if they aren’t allowed to take full advantage of their investment? She gifted 10 basic BPs during that season, and could be expected to do so every season after that, for as long as she continued to play Crossout. As well as treating herself to deluxe BPs and packs. So there was some element among Gaijin employees that decided they don’t need that person. I’ve never received any gifted BP, pack, or premium from that player. My only motivation in this matter has been to set things right, and it seems I partially succeeded. Oh, and the reason the cybertheft was possible, the main suspect PMed the victim about a sticker giveaway a popular streamer was hosting on Discord, on 2022.01.03. He then sent her an infected Discord link - which was possible to do at the time. Unfriended her right after that, and a few hours later someone charged 7 puchases totalling nearly $1000 to her credit card. When you’re friends with someone, you’ll trust theyr’e sending you legitimate links. Especially a friend who’s the most popular chat user, sending you a link to a sticker giveaway by a popular streamer. Similar incidents are unlikely to repeat, but it’s an example of what has happened in Crossout. I never got a chat ban for discussing this in the general chat, even when openly challenging said moderator, despite my actions being tantamount to flaming - which is forbidden by the rules. I guess they knew I’d appeal any such bans, and then some higher-ups might find out, and there’d be consequences (such as someone getting demodded and/or no promo account).
