I think this is probably very on target. This project (cross-play) seems very mapped out and has seen most of it’s progress over the last year. A lot of the tumult we’ve experienced is due to them pushing this agenda. It’s been rough, I think, and I will also be glad when it’s finally over.
I have complained in the past that they needed a white board, and should plan their updates out a little, because the architecture of this game was sprawling out of control.
This last year seemed very planned and methodical by comparison. So planned out that it was predictable, IMO, and that’s good. But, it was rough, and I will be happy to see them get through with it, and would like them to then focus more on balance, and flesh out and refine more of the established features they seem to have abandoned.
Ok devs not only read the forum they actively participate, at least with gajin.
I know this personally, I met one in I’ll-2 Strumovik, back in 2009, started chatting, after talking for a while, I cornered him, where he was getting his info, about updates he knew about 6 mo to year before anyone else even had a hint he fessed up. Thats when I noticed he was always defending his work on the forums. This is where my beef with monkey comes from, he always saying something is good even when the whole community is saying otherwise, not saying he is but that’s what a dev in disguise looks like.
Why would you believe they don’t, their job depends on what people think of the game. Not only is that motivation to read the forum but even put in their 2 cents as well.
The devs have never posted on this forum, and they have made it clear that they mostly just pay attention to Reddit since migrating to the new forum.
Others have speculated that they’re not currently able to engage with the forum because of the war, but I’m not sure that’s true.
I mean, if you can point to a single post from the devs on this forum, I will happily eat my words. But people who pay more attention to this stuff have repeatedly said the only way to get their attention is Reddit (or learning Russian).
Edit: just noticed you’re trying to argue that Rough Monkey was secretly a dev. That’s funny! I think that’s my cue to stop debating with you and give up.
You lost me with that post.
Are you saying they should do balance patches between BPs? Or that they should do them during BPs?
I’m trying to follow your argument, but I’m not sure what you are saying anymore.
Isn’t that what they already do? Or am I dreaming? Seems to me
that between the main BPs they usually do at least one balance patch, and often a second after they get some game data.
And then of course there are usually a bunch of balance adjustments with the launch of each new BP.
Am I hallucinating this?
There’s normally at least one balance update with each BP near the end.
I think they are looking for a more general larger scope balance update but never really state what they are looking for in terms of balance. Right now most things are balanced via statistics out of PVP. There’s a lot of ways some parts could be left out doing it that way too. This is especially true if they are not good at creating synthetic data to fill marginal gaps.
They have absolutely no idea themselves. They nerfed every fast cab by 5 kmh because “we want to slow the game down”, then they buffed hovers +20 kmh 2 months later, released Gerrida half a year after that. Released a shitload of 100 kmh premium light cabs since then anyway. I dare anyone at Targem to explain this thing to me.
And the whole game’s like that. Broken, schizophrenic and greedy.
I’m not actually sure but I think that’s not what they meant by slowing the game down. I had kind of thought about it in terms of item creation and the issue with giving out so many upgraded parts via the BP.
I know that came out at the same time but I think them meant it in more of an overall sense of the game. As they had been trying to remove the grind aspects for a while which is a speed it up feel.
I always assumed the comment about slowing down the game in reference to the light cabin speed nerf was mostly about the people who hate melee and flamethrowers.
That’s the problem with complaining about everything: things you like may get caught in the crossfire.
I’ve always said if you don’t use anything cancer then you have nothing to worry about. The only thing I’ve had nerfed that I thought was unjust was Assemblers, they suffered too much all because of Hovers.
This seemed like what they were talking about too. Generally speaking most people want to play balanced games, and this nerf to… Blight mostly, lets be honest, was 100% the right thing. Which makes it even dumber when 2 months later they throw that logic down the drain and makes the dominant meta besides flamers 25% faster. I mean yeah it’s so much better getting your shit pushed in right out of spawn by hovers/gerridas instead of flamers…
But let’s be real if something needs balancing then they should balance that individual item… for so many years items have suffered due to blanket nerfs which weren’t neccessary, mostly by not targetting the real problem.
So often items were nerfed due to their performance on Hovers for example, they really like to dance around the problem instead of acknowledging it
Let’s watch them not understand that being able to use only 1or 2 Gerrida and still drive perfectly is an actual superpower that should be accounted for when balancing the game.
I mean they missed much more obvious things before lol
Not talking about that, release Kaiju was grossly OP. 55% pen Kaiju + nerfed back to pre-buff state is dead tho.
But how can you sell Thyrsus is Kaiju is S-tier and all over the market for 2k coins?
edit: I think the worst was the fucking blinding fx tho lol. Screen would turn white hot the moment you got kaiju’ed
