I forget sometimes that Targem is a small team. I forget to praise the game for the stuff it gets right. The Graphics look great. The UI is simple and pleasing, and I love the music.
Due to the limited resources, I understand why the game put Adventure mode on the backburner. It’s because they lack resources, and a lot of people didn’t play it.
My vision of what this game should be is different from the Devs. I need to accept this fact.
I think a lot of people’s frustrations come from things that are built into the F2P model, at least for a smaller indie game like Crossout.
The F2P thing is probably the best way to keep enough new people giving it a try to sustain it, but other models would allow it to be less grindy.
The game needs to be functional and fun for a F2P player, but at the same time they need to give people a reason to spend money if they decide they like the game.
The BP system feels a bit closer to a subscription model, which to me is less P2W than when they only offered packs. It’s not that you need to buy every BP to enjoy the game, but they greatly reduce the grind feeling and the FOMO for less than you spend on Netflix. Not the worst business model.
Everyone I know completed it and forgot it.
There is a substantial lack of reward vs time spent in this mode. They could fix that pretty easy but choose not to.
I thought a break over the summer for fishing might renew the game for me, but there is so much cheese right now it simply isn’t enough build variety’s that are viable vs the cheese. (Athena etc). I mean I have the stuff to make these cheese builds… but the gap between playing an off build and a cheese build isn’t fun to overcome. I enjoyed GL-55’s because they were a challenge to do well with, not because it was press button and melt builds.
There is also the possibility I have just had my fill of XO.
