Where is the joy in this game?

yeah well, its true, you can grind for 100h or buy a bp for 10 bucks, youll get equally far.

to not call this p2w is however a very flawed sentiment. im guessing youre on team “its not p2w if there isnt a button that says win after i paid”?

the only way to grind with non absurdly low payout is clanwars and it sucks hard if you dont pay because youll be at a constant, massive disadvantage. however, at least the rewards are somewhat decent.

grinding for years to be “competitive” in 9k ps is testimony of how p2w this game is.

Do you really think it would take years to grind out a competitive 9kPS build?

I think the whole P2W debate is more about how we define “win”.
Within Crossout, “winning” doesn’t really have a clear universal meaning.

no i dont think so. the point “ive grinded for years without paying and im competitive in pvp so therefore the game cant be p2w” is wrong.

i have 3 relics i didnt pay money for, i paid with blood and tears in cw instead. which is exactly why its p2w, its either pay or suffer.

its not a good faith argument to say it isnt p2w as long as you stay in low ps forever. because as soon as you play in the ps where the fused bp stuff comes it isnt true anymore.

and i even more strongly disagree with the ambivalance of what winning means. many art builders and casuals in here like to hate on the “metaslaves”. ive read quite a few posts about how its sad to play for the wins, and how cool they are for only playing for the fun of it.

fast forward 2 days and the same people post about how “it just isnt fun anymore”, “matchmaker”, “groups in pvp”. and why are those issues? because they make people get rekt too much, meaning they lose a lot of games.

so it seems winning (enough) is very important to metaslaves and artsy fartsy types alike. how can winning mean different things when the two diametrically opposed factions agree fully on what it means?

no, the rift is between winning in an ethical fashion (artsy fartsy) vs winning by all means (metabois).

where winning by all means equals exploiting the poor balance, namely getting the op p2w stuff asap by buying levels. in the meantime the artsy fartsies hate the player because its easier than hating the game theyre addicted to.

the game is an addiction machine after all, it only works as long as there is a carrot dangling in front of your head. and this carrot is" feeling epically awesome when beating an opponent" which is also directly coupled to what the games defined winning conditions are.

I disagree almost completely with your entire post.

But since I’m still not clear on your answer, do you actually believe it takes years to grind out a competitive 9kPS build? I’d say maybe a couple months, but could be done much quicker if you set your mind to it. Why exaggerate so much?

gone, reduced to atoms

A couple months? Lol no. With how badges are set up now, and with the weekly limit, it’s probably strictly impossible to have a “competitive” 9k PS build in two months, even if you have no life and just sit in front of XO 8h/day.
You ain’t building anything “competitive” until you have like 80% of the structural parts anyway, and that takes a long, long time.

How are you defining competitive?

My definition is a build that can accomplish a 50/50 win/loss ratio for an average skill player, and that is good enough to get a reasonable amount of kills in confrontation mode. No one should think they deserve to win every match, or even most matches. Competitive doesn’t mean “best”, it just means good enough to compete.

Yes, not having all the structure parts will make that trickier, but if you are smart with spending badges on the right parts and if you max out your reputation bonus with decor/flags you should get the basics of what you need relatively quickly.
As far as weapons go, the free packs have some decent special weapons that can work at that PS, and it really doesn’t take long to grind out some epic items.

I look at what I can grind out for free in a week, and it’s not complicated to see how that would play out over a couple months.

Now if that hypothetical new player dropped a small amount of money on a BP, they would get there even quicker. Or if they bought a couple cheap packs to get enough of a bankroll to play the market.

I’m pretty confident in my two month estimation, in part because I watched Rough Monkey grind out a decent 9kPS build over just a few days with his PlayStation account. Yes, he bought a couple packs to get some stuff to play the market with, but that’s why I said two months instead of two days.

I’m starting to wonder if I’m just better at grinding than many of you? I don’t even play that much, and barely play the market, and I have new toys to play with every week. How long does it take you guys to grind out an epic item?

Edit: why are people still crying about the badge changes? The only people making less badges now are the ones who previously grinded solo at an absurd level. The average player should be getting more badges now, unless they are refusing to join a clan. Even then, there are still a lot of solo badges currently available.

Im in a freakin clan and I havent got any badges since I joined one month ago, I dont play that garbage bc I have better games to play. Why I dont have any badges collected?

There is a minimum participation level to get your clan badge weeklies. It amounts to logging in and playing a few games.

Ehhh that sucks :zipper_mouth_face:

I guess I should have specified that you need to actually play the game to get badges. I assumed that was common knowledge, but I guess it wasn’t!

You need to be doing challenges as a clan to earn badges, being in a clan and playing doesnt just earn you badges, THERES ALOT to the game its not just load it build it and hope to win, this isnt Call Of Duty.

It does indeed work this way. I regularly log on and get notified of hundreds of badges that my Clan earned for me while I was at work or away from the game.

People are too used to ADHD games like Call Of Duty where you just hop in and automatically be good at the game and just shoot things, people find it hard to dedicate the time to the actual game it self cause they were too hyperfocussed on running around a square shooting and respawning thousands of times. Sure it might take a few weeks to a couple months to get some solid builds, but thats what a video game is, you spend time on it making it better and progress further, weather its Minecraft and getting recourses to build a town, or Madden to strengthen your fantasy team, or Zelda the Breath of the Wild where you get better items to beat bigger bosses, you either have to spend TIME to make your builds better, OR YOU CAN SPEND THE MONEY. Just like you said, to say that it IS ONLY PAY TO WIN is a very flawed statement, we both have opinions, thats basically what this is. My opinion - its a free game, usually a game is $60 maybe it wont hurt to spend a few bucks? This week it only took a few hours after work for 3 nights to fully fuse 3 Emilys on a toxic 2499 build FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Whether the game is pay to win or not, I thoroughly enjoy blowing other people up in Crossout. Maybe I’m just a troll.

I would really find more joy in this game if more weapons would be viable

Even on this day things like 4 Arbiter hovers can just have fuel tanks hanging out in the open and annihilate whole teams with ease, even if they’ve supposedly been nerfed lots of times.

I was tired of fighting the same OP crap since supercharged, and it has not moved into any meaningful direction, Largest change in the whole past year has been Cyclones becoming super viable again, but other than that the same things that were OP pre-supercharged update are still OP and the other stuff can’t perform at all. In fact the armor changes made some ok weapons plain out suck, further bloating the OP-nedness of the OP stuff

Why can’t I strip a singe rapid fire machine gun with three executioners even with a direct hit while said rapid fire machine gun build tickles my huge guns off instantly even if not even aiming at me? Why are things like explosives and missiles tanked so hard by almost all parts, that can’t take more than 1 second of minigun fire and maybe 3 shots from a shotgun at max? Why can an halfway across the map spray and pray 4 arbiter build cause more damage than any sniping weapon while requiring a fraction of the aim and direct hits needed?

I am not asking for much but just a fighting chance for the non-meta weapons that includes like 70% of all guns and parts, even at maximum sweat I can’t get anything done but then play a no-brain little omni machinegun build and just spin in a circle and do way more damage to all builds than any humongous big power weapon, that logically should do way more damage. Or just W with meelee and absolutely chew up builds faster than 20+ cannon shots could ever do

I can agree with this, I have a machine gun build that shreds big weapons if I get my shot off first, I have noticed that machine guns tend to destroy my guns and other parts a bit quicker.

I know that weapon placement is vital, but how about armor? For example If I had a build with an armor piece on the front and the rear above each wheel, the front part armor piece is attached to the cabin and the rear is attached to just another armor piece, I believe that the armor is not as durable as attached to cabin / frame, correct me if im wrong but it seems like parts like mounted on other parts fly off easier.

Since I dont play the game I dont have to know that, all I remember there was one monkey here who was promoting new badges system and I follow his words. This is what he was saying… looks like he was wrong and it wasn’t the first time

Anyway thx for explanation. :+1:

I’m beginning to think that anything anybody on console says can be just ignored by those of us on PC, like if they were talking about Candy Crush, or Fallout 4. It just seems so out of touch with what I see on PC, like an alternate universe.
