Isn’t that a forum standard, though? Maybe it means things are close to normal. It must mean that nothing else’s wrong with the game that’s worth mentioning.
My only real complaint is that there hasn’t been a Battle Pass in a while. I’m sort of bored. The choppers are fun though, so that helps, but the Event bench isn’t worth mentioning. There’s nothing wrong with it, but at the same time it’s not very interesting either.
That would make since being that it’s a rather unique game in that you BUILD your “character” from scratch. Virtually every other game, you can modify a certain few aspects of how base character types look, but that’s about it.
Tjis is the only one that allows such creativity (that I know of) … Makes some that it would attract creative types.
A little off topic, but thought you’d appreciate this.
My buddy Tommy and I both took up guitar at the same time. His raw talent made it clear to me the instrument wasn’t for me. So, he continued playing and I did a good job listening.
We were browsing junk shops and pawn shops one day (this was back in the early 90s) and he spotted a guitar that didn’t look too special to me for $400 that he HAD to have. He tried to explain to me why it was so friggin awesome and a steal at $400. I didn’t get it since it wasn’t my thing, but when your buddy is freaking out wanting something, you help. So, I loaned him the money which meant going to different ATMs since back then, you were limited to $100 per transaction & couldn’t repeatedly hit up the same machine.
I don’t remember the exact name of the guitar, but it was some special version of the Gibson Les Paul. He had it appraised a while later at just over $8000. It was something like one of 12 made, and it looked like it’d never been played.
That is nut’s sounds like a very lucky find. Wish I had a pawn shop like that around here. My local pawn shop would never let nothing like that slip thru the cracks. Good story.
Your buddies gibson guitar is probably worth more than 8000 now. Price of guitars is thru the roof, I paid 1300 for mine and if I had to resell it I would get at least 3000 for it dings and all and if it was in a little better shape id have no trouble getting 5000 if i could find someone to buy it cause I am a lefty lol. I always got to sell my guitars on ebay cause it is very hard for me to sell locally.
Oh, I’m guessing he bought it in 93. God knows how much it’s worth - assuming he still has it. He got hooked on some pretty serious drugs, so he probably sold it or lost it somewhere along the way. When his coke habit got more important than life, I couldn’t hang with him anymore. I wish I could remember what was so special about the guitar, though. I do know it had a mahogany neck, real pearl or mother of pearl inlays, and some special paint job etc… was already an antique in 93.
My buddy was a Lefty, too… didn’t realize they made guitars with left-handed cut outs until he’d learned to play “upside down.” He was really good, too… could listen to a song once or twice and play it back for you. Almost savant level.
I can play upside down too somewhat. Playing individual certain chords is harder but playing solos and going thru the scales is nearly just as easy as playing regular. Sucks about your friends drug habit. Reason I abstain from drugs and alcohol altogether is because I got a really addictive personality. Only thing i does these days is vape nicotine and having a hard job trying to kick that but at least it is a habit that don’t break the bank.
It would be considered classic or vintage to be antique it has to be 100 years or older. They are all basically 1952 (first year manufactured) or younger. There’s a few years that are noted as being special because of hardware changes to the guitar I.e. changes in bridge, pickups and similar. More than likely it was a first year of one of those changes. Early Left handed LP are really rare too.
You shoulda seen my frakenstrat, Right handed chinese copy neck with the nut flipped around on a left handed usa strat body, whoever’s genius idea to butcher a strat like that leaves me scratching my head. sold it for 900 on ebay with chinese parts, paid 600 for it but after ebay fees wasn’t much of a profit. Had to sell it on ebay because reverb took it down for copy right infringement due to the chinese neck. I thought it was a 100% genuine usa made strat too until reverb told me so it was 50% real and 50% fake.
It happens I have a few that I’ve put together from parts over the years though I’ve never done left handers though. It’s fun to do custom wiring for them.
There are neat things that can be done in terms of adjusting tone that doesn’t require much skill. Beyond that it’s not for everyone. I have a few older friends that are into it. The more you get into it though the more fun it generally ends up being. Some of the the tone stuff is as easy as installing some extra switches and capacitors along with a few resistors. One of the simplest that can be done is a treble bleed: Basic Guitar Electronics - Treble Bleed Circuit Wiring (aka Volume Kit) - Humbucker Soup
I am no guitar tech hell I only tuned my guitar for the first time last month in 2 or 3 years. My guitar stays in tune that well anyways but that is what I am like, too lazy to tune my guitars let alone picking at the internal electronics. The pandemic and Crossout got that done to me, made lazy but I am getting my act together after new years I hope.
I can understand. It takes me a while to get back into anything once I’ve put it aside for a while. Most of the stuff I’ve been messing around with these days as far as music goes is all digital but I can’t say I’m that great at it yet. I have trouble making enough time to practice enough to become proficient.
Needs to stop playing crossout and you might find some practice time I says. I got 5500 hours dumped in this game if only I used that time playing guitar instead. I might play it like 10 minutes a day compared to 10 hours of crossout. Time to lay off this game I thinks and do something lol.
Crossout doesn’t take up much of my time actually, I mostly do the dailies and then log out. Even with the heli event I play till I win twice and stop. Reading and thinking is what actual eats up most of my time. I also have a lot of other hobbies and can’t fit them all in so that’s also an issue. I’m reluctant to give any of them up.
If you want a good book for going through scales and chords and other principles for guitar one of the better ones I’ve found is this book set: https://www.guitargrimoire.com/ There’s some youtube vides out there for them too but they are kind of 80’s metal cheese but useful.
