Crossout=pay and win

“Available” It’s what aces can access.

Nope - all items are available.

Just because they don’t have them does not change their availability.

I guess it’s been a while since you were an ace, but not everything in the game is “available” to them.

I refused all mine during the first event for +explosion radius. I fused a harpy with + mass.
I dunno how accurate people thought they needed to be tbh. They over heat in 6 shots. I never get more than half way heated. Never use coolers or rads.
I think playing scorps in cw’s for so long, really helped in how I used them. (now you can basically just spray and win), used to the cloak->shoot once and hide again.

Funny thing is, now that they are all buffed up, I find them boring to play.

It’s hard to have a discussion when you can’t agree on terminology. Often there is a language barrier that is understandable, but in this case that shouldn’t be an issue, but it is anyway.

This is why we use dictionaries, right? In this case “Available,” and “Technique” are relevant terms with very well defined meanings that are simply being ignored, because it’s convenient.

The definition thing is kind of messing the word META up.

I have a story about my life that will explain my definition of the word.

For me the word META all started with Magic the Gathering. (Yes the card game)

I started playing a year or so after launch.

In competitive Magic they basically call the top 3 or 5 deck lists the Meta. These are the best of the best of the best cards and most of the time these decks are worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

If you don’t have those cards, you can’t build a META deck, I don’t care if someone says “well this is the best deck I could make with what I have available.” His deck is not META and I’m not going to give 2 :poop:’s when I stomp him with the META.

You can’t log into Crossout for the first time on a starter car and be like “I’m playing a META build because this is the best items I currently have available.”

In essence, a “meta” in gaming terminology is a generally agreed upon strategy by the community . Said strategy is considered to be the most optimal way to win/ has the best performance at a specific task. Some people have defined meta as an acronym meaning “most effective tactics available”.

Then maybe people should find a different word to describe what you’re talking about, because “best items I currently have available,” is nearly literally what the acronym stands for. You can’t have successful discussions and just change definitions of words to suit your perspective. That is preposterous. It would make more sense to just wrestle.

No one is changing the definition. Your using a different explanation for the word “Available”

In the case of the word META - “Available” literally means “everything available in the game” and not just the items available to you.

As explained in my story above.

This might be a good thing to be honest

But I doubt people will stop using it.

No. That is not what it means. It means “most effective tactics available in the game” not “most effective parts I have available”.

Those are two very different ideas you should learn to separate in your mind.
It is illogical to think " I can go to war on a horse" against an enemy in tanks and it call your horse META. Your horse is not the most effective tactics available to you. Building a tank to compete with is.

Now, META does not mean end game in XO. META is a style of build that offers exceptional effective health while providing the most damage for purpose. However end game will always reflect the META.

A META dog build works good at 4k or 14k BECAUSE it is the most efficient tactic available.

This is the way.

Also, “items” aren’t a part of the definition of META, if that’s to be considered an acronym. It’s about what you do with them. It has nothing to do with what they are, beyond them being “available.”
For example, perhaps the parts you are given at the beginning of the game (none others being “available”) have a more effective arrangment. That by definition would be M.E.T.A. Unless their is another definition. I don’t know what that is, if there is one.

As far as I can see PatentsPending posted the most widely accepted definition of the term.

You are wholly omitting the reference to availability like it’s irrelevant. The “A” is in there for a reason, right? Not on Thursdays?

I have an example from XO

Is the below build Meta?

spaced armor? Check
Hovers? Check
Avengers? Not check

Before the avenger nerf, I would say this was a low PS Meta build on Xbox.

But now this is Mid tier at best - even in its PS bracket.

Your getting to trapped up in my words, I’m not a writer. The meta includes everything

Build, weapons, driver, armor and so on.

I’ve been using this word like a 1/3 of my life, and I’m 50… there is no possible way I would change what I define the word as.

I agree completely. That is why I said “nearly literal”. I think I clarified that with a subsequent post, after pondering that quote (of mokey’s, not mine). I do think it’s an important distinction. It’s not about the goods as much as it is what you do with them (according to the acronym).

This :100:

This is the way.

This explains it well.

Not even a dictionary? I mean Google is not really a good standard, but with words like “META” that’s all there really is. That’s unfortunate.

You know, we have a writer here on this forum (ObsidianFang). Maybe we could get him to write a book about gamer etiquette, like how to handle trolls, why they do what they do, or WTF is META? Why are ALL CAPITOL LETTERS SO OFFENSIVE? As far as I know there is no such manual for internet etiquette. There should be, if there isn’t.

Not even a dictionary.

This post above explains it well.

UM.

  1. META is capitalized because it is an acronym.
  2. Not all capital letters are offensive. Entire posts filled with them for no communicative reason are.
  3. Internet etiquette is just like real life etiquette, the community sets the standards and you learn it as you make mistakes. Different communities may have different etiquette, though it has been accepted for at least 3 decades I know of not to post entirely in caps. That is life in general, not just internet.

I like Fang and his creativity, but he can kind of go a little weird with his stuff

:two_hearts:love you fang!

Maybe we can call him from the depths.
