Been there done that too. It was not that either. There was no “strategy” or kids getting out played. They simply met the enemy and got pulverized near immediately. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Exactly. A good dog/melee player on the right map facing the right enemies can just shred through the whole team, but might not even get 40 points the next match. Ditto for artillery.
i was running 8k yesterday , multiple times id find myself with teams 11-13 k
Odd that the edit feature will not allow me to correct the word “enemy.” I’ve tried 3 times.
What motivation would the devs have to secretly nerf the damage of one team over another?
The same motivation behind de-ranking. To limit the farming of resources, or to promote the 50/50 win-lose ratio. Take your pick. Personally, I think it’s to limit resource farming. If I was an optimist, I might suggest that it is so bad players can feel entertained too, and everybody can have fun.
In regards to yesterday, I think they were trying out their new software. I think they typically achieve these ends through power-score penalties and bonuses (like Panda alludes to). I think they are looking for a more subtle method. A method that is showcased in a currently running Brawl (Sudden Death), so it’s not like they need to develop more software to achieve this. they already have that software and are showing it off in public as we speak. So, whether they have the software to do this or not is very clear. They do.
There are many much simpler ways to discourage resource farming, and I would argue that the small difference between the resources you get for a losing and winning match is evidence that they in fact want to encourage resource farming.
Think about it this way: one of the biggest hurdles for a small F2P multiplayer game is making sure the queue times are low to avoid a death spiral. Changing consoles to 6v6 is evidence of that. To help achieve short queue times, they have sacrificed balance at times. All the weirdness of the MM looks more like a system designed to throw together matches at quickly as possible without caring too much about balance.
So much heresy in this topic… Why didn’t anyone mentioned cheats?? Like cheat/hacks for damage? Been accused of that a lot whenever someone tries to create excuses for his poor perfomance.
Oof, that sounds so awesome?? How will that even work? You do realise that means enemy team gets this supercool boost to their weapon? Will they see numbers of 1000-2000 damage in one second?? Or will they see false numbers of suddenly reduced durability? Like bang! 40 damage to APC wheel with first shot and it falls of!))
Yes, (redacted derogatory expletive). That’s what I’m saying. Somebody noticed. I noticed. It was sudden and irregular, and effected more than just me. It effected everybody on multiple teams, multiple times. Otherwise, I would not have mentioned it. “How would that work?” Gee, I wonder? Considering there is a brawl based on this mechanic in the rotation right now, I can’t see how it’s mysterious.
The guys from other team. Their weapons must have felt times more powerful of a sudden, you do realize that? Anyways, if anything like that is possible we will soon see load of people complaing. For now is just some fantasies about balancer fortified with nothing, ancient theme really.
Ya…you seem pretty obtuse, so IDK. People ignore the obvious all the time, but I don’t know that they didn’t actually notice.
I know nobody is ever going to complain about a win, but if you think I don’t notice that my builds are often more effective than I thought they should be, and have said so, you are wrong. I have noticed it before, and there is a known and open mechanic in the game that facilitates this. Why do you think the game tells you that you “Would be more effective in battle after a rest?” That’s not even a new or updated mechanic.
All of the things I am accusing them of doing in secret, they do in the open. Usually exemplified in brawls, or seasonal events (updated software), like the de-ranking. They openly do that in brawls. They also openly tell you your car will be more energetic after taking a break, and suggest that you do. It’s not theoretical. They openly practice this. To think they wouldn’t do this or update the software that allows for it is really naive, and dim-witted.
If they kept it up, I assure you they would complain. They just might not know what is causing their issues…blame it on hovers, maybe. People do complain about this very topic. So no, it’s not new, but I think it just got an update.
I never noticed my MGs do any more damage than they should. Or less. I do get some lucky strikes on unaware campers and such to safely pour bunch of precise damage. My Mgs deal 1000 damage in 4 seconds. Cannon deal tons of splash damage. A dud pops at wrong corner and get fired upon by 4-5 players and destroyed under 2 seconds - oldest story in the book.
I never noticed any solid proof of any serious cheats or any(speedhacks, damage, etc) and it’s probably impossible due to all that info passes through server. And this… All I can suspect is secrete performance rating but still. I get long uninterrupted 85%+ winrate streak playing on strong builds. And I’ve seen it with other guys playing good their strong builds. That weird placement of some dudes to opposite teams 80+% of the time instead of 50% is all I ever noticed. Keeping track of everyone’s performance is rather complicated and would still produce some numbers that could be pushed on coincidence.
I don’t think the reminder to take a rest signifies that the game will get harder if you don’t. Just seems like the usual warning you sometimes see in games that it’s not healthy to play for extended periods. Their lawyers probably tell them to.
I know you are a firm believer that the matchmaker has certain powers, and I used to share some of those beliefs. But the reality is that none of us really know, because they’ve never actually said.
The closest they’ve come as far as I’m aware is when they were asked in a live stream if there were any plans for skill based matchmaking in PVP, and they answered that their only attempts at that were the arena brawl, and that they don’t anticipate expanding that further.
Of course that doesn’t mean they haven’t implemented something since then, or even that they were being honest, but I’m inclined to believe it.
As an experiment, try playing devil’s advocate and play a session with the low playerbase/groups messing things up theory as your point of reference for everything you encounter. You might be surprised at how much it can explain if you look for evidence from that viewpoint.
Chrisiege was playing a dual Parser and dominating. Even so, he lost he was with me.
Here’s some real conspiracy thought for you… Put on your tinfoil hats…
I sat at 10 of 12 Get The Batteries through that screenshot I posted. Considering they’re obviously nerfing the ability to farm resources…
Vladimir Putin has openly suggested (demanded?) that video games in their country be managed in a way that does not promote addictive gaming. I always assumed that was what that blurb was about. There are probably laws in Russia that regulate this, but then Russia has been widely and historically known for it’s corrupt and regularly bribed police force. Not a secret. Just ask a Russian. I’ve heard them say to avoid certain areas of towns, not because of the crime, but because of the police. This testimony can be found on websites for tourism. That’s where I came across it anyway.
I have certainly noticed that the longer you play the harder it gets. Patrols are sort of vanilla, and not as dynamic this way…well they didn’t used to be, but since the update, I’m not so sure. The reason is the very limited amount of resources you are able to farm in patrol. This excludes gas entirely, which is probably the resource that most closely equates to actual currency. I think they put a tighter lid on gas than other resources. Uranium too, probably…well, obviously. I don’t do Clan Wars, so that not something I’m familiar with.
Ask the Monkey for all things Clan related. He might say crap that rubs me the wrong way, but I am confident he knows two things: the META (just don’t ask him to tell you what it literally means), and Clan Wars. But I doubt there are a lot of people more familiar with PVP than myself.
Really? Again, people, let’s not go into politics here.
Maybe you just get gradually tired of the game
The ability they cannot nerf. The possibility and the outcome is what they can affect. Ability is your own skill. Possibility is the 8 red enemies and 7 blue enemies matchmalking. Outcome they have already nerfed long time ago (used to be a lot of wires and batteries per battle).
Ya, sorry. For the record though, I like Russians and their culture, and I can’t say my government is any less corrupt…but ya, good call. Sorry.
As for the rest of that; nah, I disagree, but I’m tired of the topic. That horse looks very dead to me.
It’s like arguing which excrements stink less
Either way, it’s a rant topic, as stated in the first post. MM says: after the update I figured I need more wires and had to sit through a couple of missions. For some reason almost all of them (about 13 that day) were favourable for me.
Was the game rigged from the start? You tell me, pardner
But I liked it more when I scrounged enough coins to buy 2 Astraeus and 2 Cyclones.
So the final solution is: if you’re experiencing a losing streak, don’t tilt yourself and just take five/ten/fifteen/an hour/a day from the game. It’s not going anywhere (and in the event “if it is”, it means the game is not worth it).
In other games, I’ve heard that modules and weapons have RNG health inside of a bracket .
E.g.
imagine that you have two guns, the HP pool between 50 hp and 3k hp, those two guns receive a random value game to game… And you never know.
yeah, at first sight, i think there are things (variables) that no MM can coup, like player age, for starters or playing under substances and so on
I believe you don’t need to be good or bad playing a build or a type of build, even if you are bad, the experience you have playing a given game and a certain maturity will raise the quality of your gameplay by default. You won’t get MVPs, UYELDINGs, you won’t be an high profile player, but you are there, middle of the pack , an average player but a solid player.
Now, let me put you in a team with a bunch of kids, a drunk or two, the team do the first corner, disappear behind a dune or whatever and they die in 40 seconds from the start.
So, at first sight you could be surrounded by META builds but… there are variables that can break the MM.
I think I understand that premise, but I’m telling you, it was not like that. It was steam roll after steam roll, and I’ve never seen anything like it. An unstoppable rush where if the enemy hit you at all, you were done. Cancelled. Non of the Bots are particularly weak these days either, and I’m sure that most of them weren’t drunk. Olivia may like a nip every once in a while and then go bang her head on the wall, but you can’t just go in there and bitch-slap the bots at 7K, not any more. Even if the random PVPs are drunk and disorderly, which I do not see that as unusual, and find it unremarkable, that’s the norm. What I’m saying is that whatever was up yesterday, I’ve never seen before. Those kids barely even got a shot off. Look at their scores. Bots too. It isn’t all the same people involved in these matches either…this horse still ain’t moving, is it?
May he rest in peace.
