I am confused by your post.
I don’t see anyone posting any explanation of why items would have changed status.
And now I’m not even sure if items did change status, or if the OP had accidentally locked the paint.
Did I miss something?

I hate this so much, I personally see it as a punishment from the devs because people like me who buy something and keep it permanently or for a while instead of buying and selling my inventory every few days. I have literally dozens of untradable parts/paints in my inventory which I crafted and bought not tied to a BS/event that became untradable because it sat in my inventory for a pre-determined time/too long for the devs and boom they all became untradable, the kicker is that a lot of those become unsalvagable for resources just for those upgrade things I hardly ever use, I don’t care if something doesn’t take up storage space if it becomes untradable, the issue is just because I ain’t a seller of my inventory every few days doesn’t mean there ain’t times where I want to sell stuff…
But this turning tradable stuff into untradable stuff has been going on for years, well before they introduced the BP meta!
I am. I just logged in to check this situation for myself, and paints I bought fairly recently are now unsalable, like the Lava paint.
It’s hard for me to tell what the extent of this new issue is, since I got hacked a few years back and part of the developer’s solution was to make all my crap unsalable. So I’ve had a lot of unsalable paints since then, but I know I bought Lava fairly recently, and now it’s marked as un-tradable on the market. My Ice Crystal is too, but I can’t remember if I bought that or earned it through some event…I think I bought it because it was cheap due to a pack sale recently, but IDK.
I’m wondering if it’s related to that mysterious shut-down of all the platforms we had recently.
It looks like a difficult bug to fix, and I bet it doesn’t get fixed. So far the developers aren’t saying anything about the possible DOS attack (or whatever that was), or this new issue, and I’m wondering if they are related.
I don’t think this justifies the change, but… (insert silver lining) what if they are trying to make everything the same on all platforms for crossplay?
For example - Lava paint was never tradable on Xbox.
One can dream
I couldn’t find “Good Cop” or “Lava” on the market at all…That doesn’t mean it isn’t there, but I didn’t see it. I looked through the list twice.
Goddammit, Monkey (always there with the corporate apologies no matter how absurd)…that’s actually a good theory. I personally think the hideous new menus, the controller update (mouse steering), possibly even the clan-war and the damage model updates, are a lead up to Crossplay. This bug/feature would fit into that hypothesis well. How can we test it?
They’ve re-written almost every feature in this game this year, and clearly don’t DGAF about how we protest some of their drastic changes either. It’s like they are on a mission.
I’ve suggested it myself a couple times; some of this weird schit they are doing this year looks like it could potentially lead up to cross-platform gaming. It makes sense why they wouldn’t announce these supposed motivations for turning the wasteland upside down. It would drive their fan base nuts on the forum and reddit with all sorts of begging and prodding, if they knew that was the gig.
I think many of this game’s issues could be solved to a good degree by simply having a larger player-base. Crossplay would probably do this game a lot of good.
Apologies? No - I can’t apologies for something out of my control.
Theories? Yes - I do agree with peoples frustrations on this subject, but I always “hope” and even a little “pray” that they have a plan to go cross-platform.
I think it’s a good theory, and would be consistent with some of the other updates we’ve seen. I also think crossplay would solve a lot of issues with the matchmaker that make PVP so brutal.
When I say “apology,” I mean it in the classical sense, as in a form of argument that that supports an alternate perspective in a debate…not “I’m sorry.”
Ah I get you. My bad.
Alternate prospectives are what spark conversations or in some cases enrage people to the farthest extent. I prefer the conversation lol
Welcome back Doc.
What would help give credibility to this theory is a list of paints that aren’t available on XBox, but are available on PC, because the "Lava"paint fits this profile, and having a list of other paints that fit that profile would be useful so I could cross-check it against my inventory…well, my inventory is a little wonky because of the hack-fix (it would be difficult to verify commonality), but somebody else on PC who didn’t have this done to their account could reasonably asses if this was a commonality (available on PC but not XBox).
Good Cop is available on XBox, isn’t it? It’s no longer available on PC. It’s not anywhere on the market, and it used to be.
Didn’t someone used to have a paint spread sheet posted on this forum?
Not sure, I’m not on Xbox right now.
I didn’t look at it yet, but I did find this thread.
I hope that helps you on your journey.
Ya…but as I look into it I’m not picking up any pattern. Lava and Good Cop are just gone from the market and those are the only ones I can see that are missing.
It’s hard to know what’s no longer in the picture. I have Ice Crystal on both of my accounts (Rex and I), but it’s unsalable on this one, and salable on the other, and it is still available on the market too.
Is it possible I picked up Ice Crystal in a recent event and that’s why it’s unsalable? You’re probably the wrong person to ask, since you’re not that into the paints, but if anybody else knows, I’d like to hear it. It’s an odd anomaly. I think I just bought it recently because it went so well with Violet Gloss…or visa versa. IDK.
The Crossout Wiki has a list of paints. I’m not sure how complete it is for making a comparison, though.
It looks pretty complete to me, but identifying what might be missing from it seems pretty difficult to me. It might help in my research though, and I’ll give it a look.
Looks like Bad Cop is also AWOL. The only pattern I can sort of see is that these paints are related to packs. However, it doesn’t seem to effect all paints available through packs. It’s just that these paints that are effected, are also available in packs that are perhaps obsolete. I haven’t bought many packs, and none in the last several years, so I can’t be sure.
I picked up a can of Willow Wisp just out of FOMO while I was digging around. the price was good. I like the paint. I like the paints in general.
Did we get ice crystal as an anniversary reward? Can’t remember.
Yes, I think that’s it.
If this turns out to be true, I’m ok with some stuff becoming untradeable.
I’m not super optimistic that it’s coming soon, but I have not given up hope on crossplay.
WTF? The hell you say? No, you are indeed super optimistic, almost to a fault (almost). I’ll be hearing none of that. Utter nonsense.
But seriously, I don’t mind having unique unsalable paints. I have no intention of selling my paints, never did, because I like them too much. When I started playing, I knew instantly paints were something I’d be collecting, with “Death Mask” being my first real objective in the game.
Also, flipping paints is a horrible way to earn coins, IMO. I’ve usually gotten screwed on that, and gave up on it.

I think Ice Crystal was part of one of those Locust Icebox packs.
If I could make some of my paints unsaleable I would. I don’t like it when other players are using my paint.
It was, but we got one as a 7th anniversary “untradable” reward version if you had played for 5+ years I think?
Or some other shiny paint lol
And we got hubcaps. I’m off work, I’ll have to go look.
