Nerf gerrida

So you want to play omniwheels (because you like them), but you are upset that the legs might have some advantages? I guess you’re still mad about hovers too?

Anyway, I’ve been playing the new legs and I really don’t think they’re better than omniwheels. They do some things better, but worse for other things. And the hill climb bug definitely makes them worse than omniwheels at the moment. Not sure how they’ll be after they’re fixed.

So I guess if you are struggling against the new legs, try to get on top of hills where the legs will struggle against omniwheels?

Have you even played the new legs much? Spend a week playing only them and you’ll quickly see how what their weak points are (and there are many).

Its funny to see these comments , I had a good laugh reading them .
Most of you seem to be missing this crucial point , allot in this game is balanced with clan wars in mind.
Gerrida’s would not be too “op” if you would have a normal interaction but people always like to exploit whatever you give them , I can tell you that gerrida’s are broken once you start pushing into other builds.
Do you remember when they were gonna “fix” wedge builds ? You also remember how they did it ?
They “fixed” it by invoking a tonnage overload when you touch someone. Its the same mechanic being used here.
Its also known as the tonnage bug , which occurs also when you are not wedging any one and merely driving against them. Some trivia ,after update 2.0 wedging is totally back , but they did not remove their “fix”.
This broken “fix” aka tonnage bug is now being abused by many builds, its used to be rampant on bigrams but they were hit hard after 2.0. Now Gerrida’s are using this bug/glitch or as dev’s see it “fix”.
Its a frustrating reality that now this is back , I touch you and you can not escape , its being used by dogs, spiders and even by some hovers . This is an anti game-play mechanic that is toxic and at this time gerrida’s are the greatest abusers of this horrible bug . I want to end on this , wedging is back and we got a really disgusting tonnage bug. Thanks crossout! you can continue this useless back and forth for my amusement, thank you for reading and take care

Gerridas are so easy to blow off, it is honestly hilarious. My triple stillwind build can de leg a gerrida every 3 volleys. I think they are balanced in that way, squishy as hell but fast and mobile. Unlike hovers, gerridas have to deal with all the things us ground peasants have to (wrecks, wedging, map terrain, etc…). Either way, a nice tool for those looking for something a bit faster but don’t want to use hovers.

40x3x3 is 360 for a triple volley of stillwinds. Thats not taking a single gerrida. 4 volleys arent either. Passthough 25%. Exaggeration does no one any service.

Oh no I was off by one or two shots, since gerridas are OP lets get some context here. Omni wheels and hovers are smaller, provide a smaller hit profile, and are more easily armored than gerridas. Additionally, they are ground locked so they remain highly vulnerable to fast wheel dogs (shotguns or fire) coming in and driving under them (coring out their underside). Their low durability does them little service when they are attempting to disengage blighted flamethrowers, porcs also absolutely decimate them, there legs pop off like candy when porc barrels come into play. I stand by my statement as a non gerrida user, they have plenty of downsides to balance out their upsides.

Gerridas ability to balance a build with only a few remaining are the best in the game for legs/hovers. They also can drag a build with only one or two quite easily, unlike the other two legs. Porcs can decimate them, but rarely does that play out like that in high ranking CWs. And as mentioned, they are still quite mobile even after being mostly scuddled.

Wow, people whined for years about wanting good fast legs, now that we got them, they’re whining about exactly what they wanted…
It’s a  world I tell you!

I think Gerridas are OP. I haven’t played them yet but will probably get a fused 10 set when it is time to cash in my lighters. Here’s why I think they are OP.

  1. Gerridas are a ground build that is completely impervious to firedogs. Put some Nothungs or Punishers on a Gerrida and it will wipe out a full Firebug team. They are impossible to pin and fire builds seem to bounce off of them and veer off course. A builds bounciness is a secret stat that I think is real but I don’t fully understand.

  2. Gerridas are not hovers and they have hover acceleration. This means that they are functionally very fast for how tanky they are. You have never seen a fat Humpback spider with near instant 65 kph Acceleration on omni movement before. This is new and somewhat alarming.

  3. Gerridas don’t rock at all while moving very fast. This makes them an ultra stable machine gun platform. When you are playing hovers, your build wobbles back and forth so you can’t have guns on top or you won’t have angles to shoot a charging dog. Gerridas can reverse in full speed while still unloading.

  4. Gerridas have the -spread machine gun perk. The perk means that machine guns don’t have to run Falcon, and can instead run Billie and get much more damage. Hovers don’t have this.

  5. Gerridas are infinitely tankier. The builds can be huge and Pegasus lets you put on as many legs as you want. Legs getting shot off? Try 10 of them. Omni wheels get bogged down after 6 of them and Icarus IV gets bogged down after 8. Also, lose too many omni wheels or hovers and spin in circles. Lose too many Gerridas and drive around fine as Hawk points out.

  6. Gerridas don’t fear Porcs. Who cares about Porcs if your smacking them with machine gun spam before they ever get to you?

I have a full fused set of 8 Icarus IV, and I honestly can say they are now completely outclassed and have no place in the game. Gerrida fills their niche better in every respect.

Sigh, Sigh, oh, Sigh.

The next thing from the next BP is OP also, I can tell you for sure, because I haven’t played it yet.

Hovers are not obsolete. Your old playstyle may not work, but hovers still work just fine.

Just because something doesn’t feel as powerful as it was, does not remove it from being powerful nor does it remove it from being viable.

How many times have we heard “this patch killed my hover build!”… to see hover builds still dominate end game?

Icarus VII feels and performs great. Icarus IV feels outclassed.

I will give Gerrida a whirl before I cry too much more but they do seem to be dominant.

Nothing changed. Icarus IV have always been worse than VII. Always.

We must also remember right now, while everyone is getting their new toys, we will see tons of people using them.
If we see matches with 8v8 or 6v6 with all new spider legs, a lot of that has to do with it being new.

Note: I am not saying they are not OP, only that we haven’t had enough time for:

  1. Everyone to get them
  2. Figure out builds
  3. Figure out counter-builds.

You very well may be correct.

You can talk about morality all day (and yes, I am very judgmental and I WILL judge you for using a crutch) but you ought to ask yourselves a more important question whose substance lies in more concrete and primitive things than opinions on (a)morality:

How far ahead in terms of effectiveness are the meta builds?
How much of a handicap is it to a player to use things that are not mouse steering omnidirectional movement parts or braindead facehugging melees? (Or a combination of both since any Gerrida build can either push heavy builds around or be at the very least completely immune to being pushed?)
How higher is a hover’s chance of winning against a wheeled build with otherwise equal skills and equipment?
How much better is a firedog against hovers compared to other wheeled builds?

I could ask a thousand more questions like this, but here’s the thing: If the answer to all of those wasn’t a variant of “by a lot”, then there wouldn’t be so many players mad at the meta and its (ab)users and likewise so many of those desperate to defend whatever is the best now while lashing out at anyone who calls their tools a crutch.

idk why anyone is crying about mouse movement in first place its not broken

Morality in a video game is defined by the games TOS.
Everything else = creative use of game mechanics.

I like your post.

It’s a skill crutch. Or an advantage, however you look at it.

also no IV have been better for the last year since supercharged VII are terrible literally no reason to use them

idk i play without it seems worse to use it

Is that in CW? If so, I defer to your opinion, in mission pvp, there are far more VII’s because of speed.

there is probably more because they are 400 coins compared to 700

Opposite on XBox. iv’s were 400 and vii’s 1400. Perhaps its due to responsiveness on paddles?

Edit: they seem to be roughly the same price on the box now.

probably i dont know console is like another game compared to pc
