The packs in the on-line store are very overpriced. That’s hard to deny. Crosscrowns are a bit of a scam too, and the decor they sell with it is not that great, and is also very over-priced as well. For a game that seems to still be in a beta test phase, this is sort of unheard of, isn’t it? Even games that are finished tend to cost less, but I assume this “beta-test” thing is also a scam, and a legal loop-hole to avoid scrutiny over how often they turn this virtual-world upside-down with nerfs etc.
It all seems very unorthodox to me, and the developers appear to fly by the seat of their pants, making it up as they go along. I’m sure their reputation precedes them considerably, so nobody should be surprised by any of their antics. Buyer beware. This game runs hot and cold, and switches game-mechanics like the wind. Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s not. It is what it is. It’s no secret.
But, what exactly is this game supposed to do for people, I wonder? This game is advertised to allow you to drive about in rusty, cobbled together, self-made, combat-cars in a post-apocalyptic landscape, and shoot at other players until they blow-up, for free. It does that. I do that here, anyway. No problem.
I spent less than a dollar on this account, and I build all kinds of cool cars and drive around shooting at players in PVP. My kill average is between two or three players a match. I don’t expect more than that. Am I supposed to do better than that? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t, but the teams aren’t really that big. Should I expect more from this game? Like what, I wonder?
Should I expect more from this game if I spend a bunch of money on it? I think it would be unfair to the public if I did any better competitively by virtue of a credit card. I’m not sure anybody does any better, do they?
I think I would be hard pressed to squeeze a $2000 value out of this game, unless I did it over a decade or so. That’s equivalent to buying every pack they sell twice, and then some. But, I’m certainly having no trouble getting my 99 cents out of it.
If there’s another comparable game that will let me drive around a scenic wasteland and blow-up players in anything nearly that cool for free, I’d sure like to hear about it. Maybe people think I got ripped off? I don’t. I like that car. It seems like a bargain to me.
A premium subscription to Newsweek is $9.99 a month, just for reference. I’m not sure I could justify spending more than that on a video game, personally, and if it wasn’t fun, or I felt ripped off, I’d terminate my account.
