This is the real reason that the game is dying!

How is that anyone can watch a video or read a description and not see that it is an apocalyptic vehicular combat game. See this is where your running into problems game image and game reputation are two very different things. If you want to talk about the games reputation yes that is pretty bad at the moment. Could the devs do better yes I think so.

I guess you missed the shotgun buff in the last update? Tritons are a special case the entire goblin line has always been problematic. Same with flame based weapons they’ve always been overly strong do to their innate dmg boost.

What features would you implement better and how would you do it?

low PS madmax art car.
thats how far the apocalypse aspect goes.
image

both are very bad and are still getting worse

shotguns arent “close” close range.
tritons and flamethrowers are different

i would unimplement (or reimplement at the very least) mechs, rotors, drones, mouse-aim, hardly anyone above npc-level piloting ability will enjoy these features.
then there is a plethora of low quality features sprinkled in all parts of the game, such as the new blueprint UX.
i could list a hundred more things that would need to change, but thats not as much about feature implementation. (balancing, monetization (broad topic), maps, gamemodes)

this video i found on youtube nicely sums up the balance aspect of whats wrong with this game.
to put it politely, its a laughable shitshow

Do you mean the mouse steering or actual general aiming with the mouse? As you can turn off the mouse steering. I don’t see why an optionable setting would be that much of an issue? As for crosshairs for aiming I wish we could change the line size and sometimes the shape.

What issues do you really have with the mechs and rotors outside the obvious you just don’t like them? Mech move fairly close in style to any of the other omni parts outside of special abilities. The only oddity with rotors is the normal keys for up and down would be inversed in most flight games. (i.e pulling the yoke would have you go up and pushing the yoke would dive.) I think it would be worse if they did that as some of the heli’s do have normal movement parts too. How would you actually improve the controls since you don’t think anyone above normal npc-level piloting ability would enjoy them as is?

Doesn’t really bother me but I’d still like to be able to reorder the blueprints.

So list them and fixes you think would help, just complaining about them doesn’t really help anyone.

The elephant issue is odd, I like the idea of cust blueprints that change weapons behavior but the extra upgrade slot I think should go away. I would say the same as the cust quasar that they put out. I generally would fault low effort monetization for this type of issue. As it’s simply remarketing a already made item with some new bells and whistles.

The issue with Daze is a classic problem, mute and paralyze type effects in other types of games are normally almost always broken game mechanics. They are even worse when used in pvp environments. It’s fixable but they would really have to shorten the active time of the item or fundamentally change how it works.

I generally think they need to speed up their balance fix cycle by making more but smaller changes.

it removes any skill required to play omnidirectional parts. it plays like a first-person shooter, rather than driving combat vehicles.

mechs are slightly more acceptable than rotors, even though they still dont really fit into the game.
both movement parts completely rely on mouse aim, and not only that, but there is literally no way to actually control them properly. you physically cant control yaw and pitch.

this sort of gameplay infantilizes the game and is an unserious arcade (not saying those are bad, but it doesnt fit into crossout).
it would be a disservice even to roblox or fortnite to compare crossout to them, because of how low quality the gameplay is.

it works alright but its much more overcomplicated than it used to be, and every time i edit a build i struggle to even save it / unsave it. it feels brittle

this wouldnt help. their balancing is intentionally horrible, the main way they make money is forcing players to buy p2w.
if they wanted a balanced game, they could make it, but they wont

i pasted them here:

You normally do that with the mouse/aim control for pitch unless you turned it off and yaw is A and D unless you swapped your controls.

It’s no more unserious then the rest of the controls in the game.

If you use the favorites bar you can lock/unlock and save right from there, there is 3 options on each build. Saving is just called overwrite and you can just click on it to save. Not saving just switch builds and it will prompt you to save or revert the build to it’s last state.

Who twisted your arm? If your buying something, it’s cause you wanted it in some way.

I’ll look through them later.

isnt A and D for just moving sideways?

i think helis are much more unserious, although the gap is tightening with every new unfortunate update

yeah, you want it to win or to keep up with meta

This is a problem you’ve created for yourself.

You don’t need to “keep up with the meta” in order to win matches.

You talk so much about the devs manipulating the players, but have you ever considered that you have so much anxiety about keeping up and being competitive for reasons that are independent of the game itself?

Have you ever wondered why you can’t just relax and play the game, instead of obsessing about it being unfair if someone else kills you in a match?

i dont care about being competitive or keeping up, nor having the latest and greatest meta.
im complaining about P2W

A and D if you’re still can move a little to either side but if you have forward momentum It’s actually a turn but it feels more like what a plane would do for a soft banking turn then a heli would normally do. The strife keys are roll control with forward momentum it’s like a hard banking turn. The mouse/aim left and right are the closest analog to the cyclic rotation control with, I think you are attempting to call Yaw instead for that (now that I think about it more). Normally cyclic rotation would be handled via a tail fan using a left and right peddle set. Gyrocopters which the 3 main blades from the bp are don’t require a tail fan though and work differently than a heli would anyway using a plane like rudder. Maple is the only true heli blade that requires a tail and that they programed just to respond passively to the other controls. Then we also have the hummingbird props too which are more like quadcopter blades. Those similarly don’t require a tail. This turns into a problem as all of these parts normally have slightly different flight controls and on top of that all of the parts are required to be potentially used at the same time. So what we have for controls are fairly generic 3d space flight controls that work for all of them. Just because it’s generic doesn’t make it unserious.

There are things I think that could be done a little better like I’d like to be able to keymap and configure some settings per vehicle as overrides to what I have set as defaults for all builds. Right now we just have assignable weapon groups.

It’s kind of the same thing.

My only complaint about P2A (pay to acquire)/time limited items is the effects on the market. I could care less if these parts come out first in packs or BP or another event so long as they matriculate into the main game as normal craft-able items. Even if they came into the game a later it would still be fine with me.

The issue with these P2A items is the artificial market shortage that it creates and the ramifications that follow like inflated prices. This then bleeds into how it effects newer and F2P players each time they are used in crafting recipes for subsequent BP’s and other events. The newer player that just wants to buy a BP when these limited crafting items are used in the recipes make it so they suddenly can’t just make the single purchase anymore they need a pocket of coins just to craft in the event they just paid for. While the F2P players and paying players face a largely inflated market.

They really need to fix this as it’s horrible for onboarding and retaining new players, its punishing for F2P players, and fairly irritating for players that normally purchase some of the passes.

(edit - fixed some typos)

Normally I wouldn’t quote myself but I see on issue with suddenly putting old BP items into the game.

As it’s a game we normally should have some type of game progression involved if you haven’t already unlocked the item. The old style of game progression is really grindy. I think everyone recognizes that and the cross-fraction groupings of some of the BP’s don’t really match well with the old system. So instead we need some type of a system that meshes well enough and is still fun. What can we come up with that is a presentable idea that fits well for this?

Issue two: While doing this not crashing the market on all the high tier items. I don’t think any player wants to be wiped out over night just because of their inventory holdings. So we need to be able to gradually increase the supply rather than flood the market with the ideas. The last thing we really need right now is to lose more players so we have to take this into account.

Few of my ideas:

Missions for Sub-factions is one of my ideas that might work. For example the mentioned the alliance in the last live stream but they said they didn’t know if they might make a new faction out of it. If they did they could attribute task lists to unlock some of these P2A items to make them permanent or semi-permanent access meaning they could rotate through a list of available items. Unless the batch of missions is updated this would slowly get boring for players though much like raids.

I’ve previously suggested adding them to the badge exchange but that really doesn’t add much to the game outside of acquiring the items. That is the shortest route I could think of that is market viable due to the potential of limits on purchases and existing badge limitations.

What type of progressions would you enjoy or think others might enjoy if it meant getting these P2A items into game? I think this is one of the biggest issues outside of getting more players and the nerf/buff cycle that effects the game negatively right now.

its not just generic, its incomplete. missing pitch and yaw in a helicopter gamemode is pretty hilarious

if the game was perfectly balanced, my builds would be adequate. but beacuse of meta parts, there are hard counters to not only my build, but all other builds as well

not only this, but also some of these limited items being overpowered

It’s generic and you say it’s hilarious but you don’t enjoy it. How is that?

So only your builds are perfect that’s going to be fair for everyone else… Did you ingest a radish in your bottom today? If you want to show us You playing if that is what you want to talk about.

One thing at a time lets get them in first. Are we all in for getting them in? Lets hear a raiders cheer!

why would i enjoy it? its hilarious but only in a bad way

P2W parts and OP meta getting fixed would be fair for everyone else, including me

What do you have that’s better? Why are you here? You say it’s in a bad way but how would you make it better? Your list didn’t even mention controls.

I don’t have a problem with that but it just feeds into the nerf/buff cycle that has to at some point stop.

Why must it stop and new players not have to endure the same sort of grind? It WON’T ever totally stop, that would be like quitting the best vocation yet.
Besides, this is Not why.

StickyTackyGoat… without meaning to annoy you.
I have to say that you are wrong and the game is in the worst state it’s ever been…
i’ve already explained how, by how long it takes to get into a game compared to say… 5-6 years ago when consoles and pc weren’t even merged, you could get into a game within 10-15 seconds.
The fact the 99.9 of all coin exists through online purchasing and if people stop buying…the market will be in trouble eventually since there’s a 10% tax when selling items… the gradual increased grind since the begining(adding plastic and batteries… constantly changing the stats of weapons with crippling nerfs that erease the value of weapons, hardware and movement parts…the prices of delux pack bundles have increased…
So many strategies to gradually thin the herd (player base)
With all this being the case it’s not surprising that the game is dying…
Crossout is a good game…used to be great but the developers saw to that
i still play it on occasion but not concerned about making progress anymore.
Although the developers have made some good changes like increasing the range of machine guns and adding mech legs…
The bad far outways the good…
Oh and it doesn’t help when veterans use low powerscores with all fused items and in a group taking on the new players.

these two things should never be in the same sentence as one another. mech legs were a mistake to add into the game and it shows itself through practically every match i go into.

its not just that, the game has been stale for years and we have been dealing with the same crap over and over again for a long time. there is no significant amount of content that has been added into the game. tell me when the last new PERMANENT MODE was added into the game? its been forever. a bunch of people, who im convinced had escaped from the nearest insane asylum, said that the game is “a pvp only game and we dont need pve” to which i reply with “if this game was solely pvp then i wouldnt be playing this nor would a majority of the playerbase and it would be ALOT smaller then it is now.” the game needs more to do in it. the devs added “new” stuff to the game but completely abandoned it. adventure mode, leviathans (even though they been in the game for ages they only allowed them to be used in clan wars and invasions, a massive waste.), the revamp of the codriver system to which they havent touched in literal years… etc.
literally everything we been getting in here is temporary. temporary brawls, temporary events, temporary taunts (which is a crime in and of itself, charging us money for stuff that expires), temporary blueprints (which again is a crime in and of itself. they are using these blueprints as a fomo tactic and also using them in other future blueprints to create a demand for the item to sell more packs / mini battlepasses. a very scummy tactic and people are getting tired of it.).

heres a little story to, i went into world of tanks before and seen how the game was, i thought it was ok till i seen just how heavily and how scummy the monitization was in the game. premium ammo was a thing, you had to pay for garage spaces to for more tanks, i noped out of there so fast and i never touched the game again. and i can tell you right now, if i was a new player and i seen and found out how crossout functions on fomo and how scummy they have been with bp’s and mbp’s id nope the hell out of this game to. i dont blame players for not coming back.

on top of this, i brought up how squalls shouldnt be 800 ps and they shouldnt be able to be brought in to seal club newer players, well the whales over on reddit kept trying to justify their nonsense saying its “fine how it is” and that the ps is based on ps x 200 by the amount of energy it costs which is a stupid mechanic. sure, let me bring in a stupidly powerful legendary into a match with literal beginners and get them killed over and over and over again so they leave the game.
im beginning to think the people on reddit just dont care and are to afraid to have competition.
this is why you dont ever let whales run your games because they will ruin it, not just for the devs but for everyone else to.

sorry theres just ALOT that frustrates me about this game…

well to say the least you stated many facts there, i suppose your right about the mech legs to… they do appear alot now in raids and modern pvp matches…
fact is I wouldn’t help your irritation because I use them to, however i do sympathise with your opinion on mech legs… there’s nothing worse than when something is added that you feel makes the game worse
The only crossout event i truly enjoyed was reptile vs drones which was out around Halloween time.
As for your statement on leviathans, you made some good points there, i also wish more events were created for them and it would be nice if you could win plastic or electronics instead of just copper.
I tried world of tanks to, and yeh it’s a very sh!te game as far as the grind and pay2win options go…
As for the squall i’m usually always against nerfs but that weapon has become a slight problem in crossout to say the least and using them for seal clubing won’t do the game any favors…
