Why is the vindicator so unpopular?

The build I got made on icebox is decent(I don’t have torero). I am having fun playing with it and usually win most close range encounters. The weapons don’t get shot off easy and my build is tanky as well so there is that. I’m doing decent with it I am just saying I can see why people don’t use it but was wondering when it got nerfed. I don’t know if I am misremembering but I think the spread growth got nerfed in one of the patches so burst firing became much less effective but I am not sure.

Yeah  I’m not suggesting to play it on torero

But I do think they might make thing under power due to stacking buffs.

I’m not sure it did. I think other things are just better that came out or other things for buffs.

I think spread growth got nerfed in one of the patches so it became harder to even burst fire with it. I think that is what it was because people use to burst fire with it on nova cab/bigrams then i think after one of the patches I stopped seeing that build.

That was my experience with Vindicators. The durability is good but the atrocious spread makes these extremely unpleasant to play.

I like Nothungs.

I had Vindicators when they first came out in the season 5 Guiding Star battle pass. They haven’t changed and the spread was always that bad. I used Bigrams and Jade to get workable spread on the standard 5 Vindi Nova spider.

Nowadays, Falcon has the same spread perk.

I also use Bigrams.

Forgot about their perk.

Yeah the spread change was probably what killed it, i remember when they first came out and everyone used them tap firing them was as accurate as nothungs

So now everyone who was using vindicators is using nothungs
Should have probably gotten them myself but with how good they were from the get go I was thinking they’d nerf them at some point. Who knows might do that at some point

Though how they are handling the game these days i am sure they’ll nerf Gungnirs instead and buff the Nothungs and release a mini battle pass where you need fused kings (not part of the mini pass rewards btw) to craft nothungs

Bigrams + Flacon + spread fuse = laser guided bullets

I swear to god they nerfed the spread in one of the patches or they nerfed it behind closed doors or something without telling anyone. Something drastic must of had to happen for it to drop from 3300 coin on pc to 1300 coin where it is now. I don’t find nothungs any better than aspects from what I am aware of and aspects were always around so I don’t think it was completely because of the nothung making it obsolete.

I think a big reason is because the BP that had them was released 2 years ago. People probably forgot about them or are oblivious of their existence completely.

Because they focus on new toys instead of playing with the ones they have.

New stuff came out. Vindicators gather dust. No one sees them in games, no one interested in buying them.

Plenty of supply, low demand = lower prices.

There’s a few differences between Nothungs and Aspects. The damage is similar, but with an Aspect, especially before the recent buff, you couldn’t use the perk unless you had a macro that could tap fire the powerful but finicky perk.

Another difference is that you must always tap fire Aspects, if you hold them down, the spread goes wide like a Punisher. Nothungs have a nice tight spread whether you hold the button down or tap fire.

I think Nothungs are longer range, or the better spread makes them seem longer range.

The tradeoff is that Aspects require only 1 Seal/Shiver to work properly while Nothungs require two Shivers. That’s a lot of energy, 14 points, to hit 2700 damage on the damage ball.

I think the downfall of Vindicators, is that the new camera steering and the Omamori allowed you to box in machine guns much more efficiently than before, so Vindicators suffered because flimsy weapons like the Nothung have great durabilty when they are mounted to an Omamori and sandwiched between train plows in the middle of a hover with armor along all sides.

This V hover setup, on either Beholder, Griffon or Kami is so effective that it became the meta for machine gun builds and outcompeted small machine gun spiders for the same niche. As Vindicators are tied to spiders, they suffered. They may become more popular with the Gerrida leg becoming a rival to hovers.

Omamori makes a bunch of weapons shine.

I just counted the taps, but that was back when spider pancakes were in. Then tap, pause, tap, pause tap, etc.

Aspects are great. Nothungs are great.

Nothungs require far less skill.

Looks like vendi is getting a buff

Glad I didn’t sell mine!

Gonna make another machinist vindicator build, and see if that cabin/weapon combo is more useable now. I enjoyed it in the past, but it was way too slow.

It still might be fun, but the speed will be an issue.

I’m not sure a cabin that increasing the durability makes this gun better. The patch already did that.

You might want to consider a different cabin.

We’ll see how much more responsive the changes make the cabin feel. The problem with machinist is that lack of speed meant that the perk didn’t help that much, unless your weapons were already very durable. I found that lower durability weapons still got shot off before I could turn to face the enemy.
The only machinist builds I could ever get to work were vindicator or Kaiju spiders. Although I think I’ll try some cannons on it now, and see if I can get them to work.
