Connection issues

Second that for the nth time. These drops and desynch issues along with the tether to starting location are more than " get better internet"

In these screenshots you can see the net test returning okay results for the server, but you can also see that I am not properly connected and stuck at spawn with much higher ping and loss than the net test reports.

Same thing on wheel67.

I tried using a vpn and routing traffic all over the place to see what things might change, and the problem still remains largely unchanged.

So we hit gold in 401k today during Levi CW. The only other NA clan that was matched against us was C0PE. We had 15 minute+ queues. Either all other EU/RU clans are locking their regions or the matchmaking has no priority for NA clans/players. If I set region to Auto it throws me on EU or RU nearly 100% of the time, if I have to play nearly every game on EU to get a match, but I can’t play on EU because I desynch consistently, what am I to do?

If it takes 15-40+ minutes of waiting in queue to play a ~5 minute game I feel like I’m wasting my time.

That’s what I see too

Always wheel stuff when I do the network testing, but I doubt they’re gonna look into it because the person who suppose to is the one dismissing our claims with it’s not on our end it’s on yours when clearly it isn’t on my end at least, I done so many tests, cleaned my pc/cache and tested my 1-year-old PC and less than a year old router. I even spoke with my wifi provider and they said my wifi working as it should, but it’s easier to say it’s on our end then to actually look into it and fix it, as they may actually have to update their servers which means spending $$$ and not just taking it in!

Alright so I isolated a PvP game with the desynch issue occurring on NA servers:

And this is a normal PvP game where I don’t desynch:

Comparing these two we can see two notable things. The desynch game sends me MUCH more data (up to 5x more!). We’ve also observed that it send the WRONG data. Second is the session for the desynch game continues up to 6 minutes and 32 seconds. This about lines up with when the game will kick me from a match in CW as well.

I understand that we cannot feasibly correct every node that drops packets. HOWEVER I retain that we can force the game to send the proper packets at the proper times so we can solve this issue. I know I am not the only one who suffers from it.

I ran ipfingerprints on the server and the port range:
image
I still suspect that there is something weird going on with the routing from the server → client especially since it will loop and get stuck sending you the same packets over and over (like it will send you the packet that you are sitting in spawn constantly). Why does it do this?

According to the powers that be its your internet. No amount of proof will make them change their mind or laziness to actually fix things witch is why I refuse to spend another dime on this game.

It could be great but its bogged down in mediocrity and much as life its easier to blame anything else than to accept the responsibility.

They just want your money so you all have the option to not had it to them

please fix this issue, it effects us most of all around CW time, you load into a game and half your team gets stuck in spawn because the servers refuse to send data to the bloody client, this has absolutely nothing to do with our connection being “bad” I don’t get this issue in any other game, and just the other weekend so many people were complaining it was not funny, your server suck so much, you know about it, and you neglect to do anything about it, fix your servers, fix your traffic routing, ditch the crappy cheap host provider in Netherlands, all THESE servers in yes, i have been keeping track of the servers people have been having problems with any any server remotely close to this server just walk into the data center and, pull out an axe, and start chopping away at hardware, I would rather never join one of these servers, then have them available to play on

The Worst thing is, if you are seeing the battle from yourteammates’s perspective, trought a stream or screen-sharing generally, you can see your vehicle responding to your commands with almost no dellay!

Badically, the server can recieve information just fine, but it literally does not send anything back, which means it is 100% a server problem…

exactly, their no amount of them telling us “its out connection problems” when their are so many people complaining about the exact same problem, I know cross out plans on being cross platform by the end of the year, which in itself will probably bring in some new connection bugs, but hopefully they will smarten up and actually put some time into developing and improving the networking due to this, clearly networking stuff will need to change for cross play, hopefully it at least gets fixed by then
I’m not 100% sure how cross play works like, if pc players can “use” Sony and xbox servers specific servers or something like that, but either way, hopefully a larger pool of server will help relieve some of the connection issues during clan wars etc

On xbox. Ever since the update for Steel championship came out I’ve been getting desynced more often than I usually do. Literally only able to play 2 games out of 10. Missions or raids, sucks especially on raids since you lose fuel. Can’t get my weekly challenges done but before the update I’d have them done in a couple days. It has become unplayable for me. Anyone else getting desynced more often?

Not sure what you mean, does the countdown timer flicker back up and down? that’s the only one I really know of

Yes that’s exactly what happens when you desync. Same with when you rubberband over and over when you try to move

Facing this shit from last 4 months lol this game is dying

how?

If i try to move while the game is locked at the map screen, everyone else will be able to see i move, if i try fire my weapons, everyone else will see i fire my weapons…

This can’t be just lag and rubberbanding, it literally only happens in specific servers…

That’s because your game, client side, is desynchronized from the game, server side. Your game sends data fine to the server but either the server is stuck resending the same packet to your game over and over or your game is stuck requesting the same packet over and over. Something in their netcode, can’t tell if it’s server or client side, struggles to resynchronize. One thing for sure is only THEY, the devs, can fix this. They keep blaming our “Routers” or the route our internet takes to get to their servers, and saying they can’t control the internet, true they can’t control that but they have absolute control on how the game’s netcode, client and server side, handles desynchronization. Seeing how other devs on other games are able to recover from desyncs.

Yeah. we’re stuck with these issues be it lag or and a wheel bug, I went through the report error (bug) process and all I got was this
Skula1975
Your screenshots is a more than one month old.
Please check konnection again and poset newest result (screenshot and all logs )

I sent both new and old screenshots to show this is an ongoing issue lol
And sent all the logs I got!
Now tell me you don’t want to do your job without telling me you don’t want to do your job!!!
And
Quantum_Rage
If you are on an ethernet connection Open up a command prompt (cmd) in administrator and run this command.

netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface Ethernet mtu=1400 store=persistent

If you are on wifi. Or are using ipv6 i would recommend googling “how to change your MTU settings”
I have had some. Success changing my MTU to 1400 in my router, and i am currently testing out setting the MTU setting on my system as well. Please let me know if you have any success

Pretends to want to help, asking me to modify my router, I never even knew you could change your router let alone know how to safely without messing something up, basically a long-winded version of Skula it ain’t on our end it’s your fault lol
Why even implement the report error function with the last update if it just gonna be I’m not doing my job so it’s on your end and not ours …
I can imaging my boss telling me go find a different job if every time a person had issues due to our business if all I did was it’s your problem not mine/ours!

so I have been looking around and playing around with some settings, it appears that changing your MTU currently seems like the best fix for this stupid game at the moment
you can set your MTU setting on you’re personal pc, and in your home router (if you have the password for it)
currently I have only had pretty good successes setting the MTU in my router to 1400, after doing this I have not lagged out in game since however, I know not everyone has access to their own routers webpage so I am currently experimenting with setting my MTU on just my pc to see if I can find a fix that works easily for everyone

you can set the MTU on your pc by opening up a command prompt in administrator and typing in this command, if you are on wifi, or have multiple ethernet connections, or are using a VPN OR you have an IPV6 address, you may need ot change some of these parameters

netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface Ethernet mtu=1400 store=persistent

if you are on ipv6 just simply change where it says ipv4 to ipv6, note that if you are using ipv6 you should not change your MTU to anything lower then 1260 as ipv6 has a minimum MTU of 1260, setting this lower will cause your network to stop working, if you do mess up, don’t worry, just undo your steps and go back to the default MTU size of 1500

if you are using wifi, or a vpn, or a second ethernet port you can copy this command to show all of you’re active network connections, again you may need opt change ipv4 to ipv6 if you have an ipv6 connection, if you are uncertain about your network this is step 1

netsh interface ipv4 show subinterface

please let me know if any of you have 100% success with any specific MTU setting testing if the setting works or not takes allot of time, since, the problem of “the game is lagging it’s brains out” only seems to be happening during clan wars times when the servers are most active, and as you will all know you wont lag out every single game, it might be case where you lag out 1 in every 10 games etc, which makes it hard to know if the changes are working or not, i would say if you go for like 2 week + without a single lag out, it has probably fixed the issue

jus so you know wolf, I’m not a moderator or admin of crossout in any way, I’m a player just like you looking for a solution if I had the power to do so, I would 100% walk into the devs office and slap them in the face if I could, I’m not pretending to want to help, I’m literally doing everything In my power to help, mate, if I get enough feedback form users “trying” my fix, I will make the fix as simple as downloading a file and running it, I know how to do a small amount of coding in batch (which I can use to run commands in the command prompt) I can make a problem that detects what network you are running crossout on, and then change the MTU of that network, I can also make another small program to “undo” the changes if the user fined having a lower MTU is causing issues with lets say, streaming software for example, that is high bandwidth, high data transfer. I am nothing like skula, I’m actually trying to figure out what is causing the issue, and I am trying to bring people a solution, skula just sits here and talks BS to people online

I can’t wait for the developers to just go and inplement a “fix” in the game after someone from outside the development team finds a definite fix, and the developper’s fix happens to be the exact same as the player made one…

Well then thank you for trying to help, I just thought you were a Dev/Mod pretending to help while saying it’s not on our end but on yours, mainly because Skula only says that as you can see his response to me, I apologize for thinking you were a Dev/Mod and thank you for least trying to provide help, but when I contacted my Internet servise provider one of the things they checked was if my router was functioning correctly and up to date, like I said before I didn’t know you could change your router settings, and not sure if I am legally allow too in my country without my ISP permission, I google how to change your router settings and mostly got " you use our website to change it" no thank you, then googled if it was legal for me to change my router settings in my country and it lead to no it’s not you need your ISP to change it for you!

It’s pretty clear there is a server based / netcode issue.

  1. The current Crossout netcode is not able to handle loss this causes a ‘desync’ state.
  2. Server’s / netcode does not have any code to ‘resync’ - so once ‘desynced’ people can not play.
  3. Once in a ‘desync’ state game servers keep sending very large amounts bad/old (as show by delraith).
  4. This is overloading your servers and making them more likely to ‘desync’ others (this is like why the issue is worse in CW).

This ridiculous and lazy development most online games resync functions to handle this

Skula1975 if you need logs how about you get the server admins teams to do their job collect logs server side of people that join a CW matches and are then disconnected → hand that over to the dev team and get them to design a resync code.
